MINSK STREAMS NEW TRACK "TO THE GARISH REMEMBRANCE OF FAILURE"
Atmospheric sludge metal band Minsk is streaming a track from their new album (check it below). Here is the press release:
"Scattered between the sleepy city of Peoria and metropolis of Chicago and drawing inspiration from a remote Belarusian city that has been burned to the ground only to be rebuilt like a phoenix rising from its own ashes, MINSK has been cultivating sonic exploration and alchemical outpourings since 2002. Rooted in the post-metal landscape that brought forth visionaries like Neurosis and Isis, with their latest opus, "The Crash & The Draw", MINSK step out of the shadows of the giants of their genre to create a psychedelic blend of tuneful, trance-inducing heaviness.
Set to drop via Relapse Records this Spring, The Crash & The Draw follows the eclectic collective’s six-year hiatus and boasts eleven arresting psalms that transcend far beyond the boundaries of post-metal, sludge and psychedelia. An instant contender for one of the most forward-thinking metal records of the year, each cascading movement is a crucial sonic passage through dark and light. At once crushing, hallucinatory and at times, spiritually illuminating, tracks ebb and flow with a pastoral elegance and tangible urgency.
Reflects co-founding member Timothy Mead (vocals, keyboards) of the recording: “So much attention and care have gone into this process, this renewal. We knew in order to really move MINSK forward in a meaningful way we would need to raise the bar all over again. This realization lit a fire within us to transcend what was. Lots of changes, to be sure, and yet the results are unmistakably MINSK.”
Adds co-founder Christopher Bennett (guitars, vocals): “This new album will present inroads to some of the musical archetypes we initially discussed when starting this band, but ones we have not yet touched on in the macrocosmic sense. It embodies the furtherance and expansion of MINSK in ways desired in the past, but not realized until these songs began to show themselves to us. The aggregate elements combining into a solid form. We hope to reveal this process to any and all who have the ears to hear.”
“We are very pleased to finally be able to share an actual piece of the record,” Mead continues of “To The Garish Remembrance of Failure,” available for the first time today for public consumption. “As always with MINSK, it’s incredibly difficult to lift out one piece of the narrative and imply that it is fully representative of the whole, but I think that ‘To the Garish Remembrance of Failure’ is a fitting first taste, something succinct, and something that feels really good to turn up loud. The phrase alone, to the garish remembrance of failure, is exceptionally meaningful to us, and we are proud to share a first glimpse of some of what is ahead. Raise a glass, feel and know the vivid memory of what has gone wrong and what must change… to the garish remembrance of failure.”
Recorded almost exclusively in The Prairie State, The Crash & The Draw was captured by the band alongside Sanford Parker (Twilight, Voivod, Eyehategod, Yob etc.) at Earth Analog in Tolono, mixed by Parker and MINSK at Hypercube in Chicago and mastered by Collin Jordan (Eyehategod, Indian, Wovenhand, Voivod etc.) at The Boiler Room in Chicago with additional vocal tracking by Scott Evans (Kowloon Walled City. Old Man Gloom, Floor etc.) at Antisleep Audio in Oakland, California and further tracking, editing, and mixing by Kevin Rendleman at Trash Rocket Audio and Aaron Austin at We Know Who You Are, both in Peoria. The record includes the striking cover creation of Orion Landau (Yob, Inter Arma, Red Fang etc.), a reinterpretation of original artwork by contributing artist, Corinne Reid.
MINSK’s The Crash & The Draw will be released via Relapse Records in North America on April 7th, 2015, April 3rd, 2015 in Germany, Benelux and Finland and April 6th, 2015 in the UK and rest of the world and come available on CD, double LP and digitally.

DEATH METAL SUPERGROUP GRUESOME RELEASES "SAVAGE LAND"
Here is the press release for the release of death metal supergroup Gruesome´s "Savage Land" (check the preview below):
"GRUESOME is a debilitating death metal faction featuring members of Exhumed, Possessed, Malevolent Creation and Derketa. A respectful celebration of the sound of the early Death records, the collective was borne out of guitarist/vocalist Matt Harvey (Exhumed) and drummer Gus Rios' (Malevolent Creation) mutual involvement with the Death To All tours -- Harvey serving as frontman for the original nine-member mini-tour and Rios performing "Baptized In Blood" and working with DTA drummer Sean Reinert on the following US tour where Exhumed filled in as support on a several dates. The pair stayed in touch and discussed their mutual love (obsession?) for the early half of Death's catalog. After deliberating and ultimately discarding the idea of putting together another incarnation of DTA to focus exclusively on the first two albums, Harvey half-jokingly suggested writing their own songs in that vein. It wasn't long before the idea gained traction, and the "band" had five songs written. With Harvey composing in California, Rios recruited Possessed guitarist Daniel Gonzalez and Derketa bassist Robin Mazen to record the material in Florida, while Harvey tracked his vocals on the West Coast. The result is eight-track debut, Savage Land, a truly gruesome slab of late-'80s/early-'90s Florida-styled death metal. Tragically, there will never be any truly new Death material, but GRUESOME is humbly determined to keeping the band's classic sound alive as faithfully as possible."
"Elaborates Harvey, "We had such a blast writing and recording this album, I just hope people enjoy it half as much as I enjoyed doing it. It was a great experience working with my friends in Florida and getting to write and record my take on the Death sound. I'm beyond happy with the way everything came out and I hope people take it as the loving, respectful piece of work that it is. I know that sounds counterintuitive for a death metal album, but the whole band is really a super nerdy fan letter to Chuck [Schuldiner], James [Murphy], Rick [Rozz], Terry [Butler], Chris [Reifert], Paul [Masvidal], Sean [Reinert], and Stevie D [DiGiorgio] for making records that have given me literally decades of enjoyment. Having had a chance to meet and hang out with all of those dudes from the early Death days, with the exception of Bill Andrews, has been nothing but humbling, rewarding, enlightening and has only deepened my love for the band and made it that much more personal. So I decided to write an album about '80s horror movies and deadly diseases, which is what anyone would do under the circumstances, right? Anyway, if you like late '80s Death, I sincerely hope you enjoy our take on it, which is really what this album is, with all the drippy blood and inverted crosses in the logo that that implies.""
""Savage Land" was recorded by Rios and Gonzalez at Riversound Studios in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, mixed by Jarrett Pritchard at Mana Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida and features a guest guitar solo on "Closed Casket" by James Murphy as well as cover art by legendary illustrator Ed Repka (Death, Megadeth, Massacre, Athiest et el)."
"Savage Land" Track Listing:
1. Savage Land
2. Trapped In Hell
3. Demonized
4. Hideous
5. Gangrene
6. Closed Casket
7. Psychic Twin
8. Gruesome
""Savage Land" will be released in North America via Relapse Records on April 21st, 2015, April 17th in Germany, Benelux and Finland and April 20th in the UK and the rest of the world on CD and digitally. "

EPHEMEROS RELEASES "ALL HAIL CORROSION" ON VINYL
"Portland death doom collective, EPHEMEROS, is pleased to announce the wax edition of their critically-fawned upon, frown-maker, "All Hail Corrosion".
"Initially unleashed on CD via Seventh Rule Recordings in 2013, "All Hail Corrosion" was tracked and mixed by Fester (Atriarch, Stoneburner) at Haywire Studios, mastered by Brad Boatright (Sleep, From Ashes Rise, Nails) at Audiosiege Engineering and bestows its listeners with forty traumatic minutes of measured depressive harmonies, soul-crushing growls and haunting chants centered around the imminent decay of humanity. Nodding its heavy, sullen head to the likes of Mournful Congregation, Loss and Asunder whilst delving into deeper, darker, more acerbic death/sludge territory "All Hail Corrosion" is a gutting onslaught of slow, suffocating riffs, scorned vocals and a profound sense of misery, one that Pitchfork dubbed, "the sonic equivalent of oxidizing razors and toppling gravestones," Echoes And Dust likened to, "the soundtrack to one of those nights you're reaching for a bottle or hallucinating a life you never lived and/or never fucking wanted," and Cvlt Nation commended for being, "so simple yet so overwhelming in its emotional structure and ritualistic vibrations."
"All Hail Corrosion" is now available to bring you down on limited edition vinyl, courtesy of Parasitic Records. Contained to 500 copies, the record comes on standard black wax with chipboard jacket a double sided insert and is sure to rumble the infrastructure of your home upon first listen.

OCCULTATION RELEASES "SILENCE IN THE ANCESTRAL HOUSE" ON VINYL
New York doom metal band Occultation will release their album "Silence in the Ancestral House" on vinyl. Here is the press statement:
"The apparition known in physical form as OCCULTATION materializes with its second full-length LP, "Silence In The Ancestral House", expanding on the twisting, malformed post-punk and cast-iron dark doom first revealed through its "Three & Seven" debut."
"Under the light of the moon, OCCULTATION creeps, crawls and crushes like a many-tentacled abomination using seductive power and hypnotic conjuring on the nine curses contained within. Captured from air in a far more powerful and convincing manner than ever before by Kurt Ballou at God City Studios, the band strikes a mood both sombre and grim, reflecting a contorted, wrecked expression in a cracked mirror through eminently listenable heavy metal sorcery."
"Following its release through Profound Lore Records, 20 Buck Spin through the mist unveils the waxen edition of OCCULTATION’s "Silence In The Ancestral House" for the North American market, which includes the fantastic visual interpretation by Adam Burke on both the cover and the included poster. When ordered direct from 20 Buck Spin the LP comes on gold/black with red splatter, translucent red, and black variants, all includeing a poster and immediate download."
OCCULTATION can be witnessed live at Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus Bar on March 22nd with Dispirit, and at this year’s Treefort Music Festival in Boise, Idaho March 25th through 29th with Wolvserpent, Kowloon Walled City and many others, with additional performances to be confirmed.

WARHORSE RE-RELEASES "AS HEAVEN TURNS TO ASH" + TRACK STREAM
Here is the press statement: "With its official reissue now just days away, today Vice Magazine levies the heavy with a stream of "I Am Dying" from legendary Massachusetts doom weavers, WARHORSE (check below).
The gargantuan psalm comes by way of the band's final EP of the same name, initially unleashed in 2002 and now available as a companion to the band's "As Heaven Turns To Ash..." full-length, both given the reissue treatment by Southern Lord Recordings.Long out-of-print, fervently sought after, and unconditionally vital in foreshadowing the glut of current bands that indulge in slow, self-possessed, infernal low-end sound excursions, WARHORSE's "As Heaven Turns To Ash" and their subsequent "I Am Dying EP" still reeks of brimstone, bong smoke, and burning tube amp nearly fifteen years since their respective releases! Both slabs of doom domination will be combined and reanimated on double LP and digital formats courtesy of the Lord.
In commemoration of its release, Vice Magazine kicks off your weekend with the sonic enormity of "I Am Dying" noting, "Doom is a careful and meticulous art, and WARHORSE did it right. They blended Sabbath-era blues riffs with obliterating vocals and enough dark walls of sound to transcend all of the usual run-of-the-mill stoner metal. It's a heavy dose of sludge... While bands like Sleep and Electric Wizard encouraged us to 'drop out of life with bong in hand' or mount the dopethrone, WARHORSE conjures a genuine sense of exuberant doom and despair."
Forged in 1996 and lasting the best part of a decade, the output of WARHORSE wallows deep down, grooving at the kind of frequency usually associated with imminent natural disaster. But in addition to their intricate delivery, WARHORSE exuded an experimental, subtle psychedelic swagger which gave rise to gritty and memorable riffs, and saw them sharing stages with the likes of such amplification legends as Electric Wizard, Khanate, Acid King, High On Fire and Unearthly Trance.

ABYSS RELEASES "HERETICAL ANATOMY"
Here is the promo statement: "Decibel Magazine is now exclusively streaming “The Atonement,” the first single culled from Toronto-based death cult, ABYSS’s "Heretical Anatomy" debut, impending release through 20 Buck Spin mid-April. The second of eight grisly passages bound into the album erupts with a whirlwind of debilitating and utterly sadistic grinding, percussive, death metal and never relents, much like its seven counterparts, which collectively burn all modern metal trends to a sulfuric, insignificant dust."
"Heretical Anatomy" will see release through 20 Buck Spin on LP and digital formats April 14th, 2015, guaranteed to attract fans of Napalm Death, Exhumed, Repulsion, Impaled, Noisem, Terrorizer, Carcass, Axis Of Advance, labelmates Mammoth Grinder, Bone Sickness and the like. ABYSS will also trek the barren North American plate spreading their diseased hymns throughout the year, with new tour dates to be announced shortly.
Exploding with a tenebrous style of Stygian, grinding death metal, witnessed through two prior demos including "The Reins Of Horror" via Dark Descent Records, "Heretical Anatomy" documents the first fully realized glimpse into the dark surging ABYSS. Hideous shapes and bloodthirsty rites of the Old Ones are viciously summoned upon the bones and bowels of the Earth, through eight odes to nameless terrors and protean revulsion mercilessly ripped from the flayed life of the cosmos and dripping with crimson adoration. The frenzied blasting of early American and UK death metal and grindcore, before a distinct separation between the two existed, is a hallmark of Heretical Anatomy, yet the overwhelming speed scattered throughout the album’s duration is expertly applied, never descending into a one dimensional space where only velocity is the basis for existence. Songs are crafted with the care of the elder gods, rigorously refined with a seasoned sophistication, always maintaining a sharply primitive ferocity. Joel Grind of Toxic Holocaust adds his touch to the production, mixing and mastering this malformed death metal and the horror of its Lovecraftian persona.
CONTINUUM RELEASES "THE HYPOTHESIS"
Bay Area death metal henchmen and recent Unique Leader signees, CONTINUUM, are readying to unleash their debut full-length, "The Hypothesis", this Spring.
The brain child of lead guitarist/composer Chase Fraser Decrepit Birth, Animosity), CONTINUUM was forged in 2009 and features the current working lineup of Fraser alongside guitarist Ivan Munguia (Arkaik, Deeds Of Flesh), vocalist Riley McShane (Son Of Aurelius), bassist Nick Willbrand (Flesh Consumed) and drummer Spencer Edwards (Son Of Aurelius). Together the CONTINUUM collective provides a sound that rocks the very foundation of modern death metal.
Recorded mainly by Fraser with additional tracking and mixing by Zack Ohren (Suffocation, Fallujah, All Shall Perish et al.) a tCastle Ultimate Studios, "The Hypothesis" delivers a scathing assemblage of engaging and abrasive compositions steeped conceptually in the mysteries of the infinite and the early but no-less-relevant and unsolved theories of the “continuum hypothesis.” This hypothesis was studied by a number of mathematicians including Georg Cantor in 1878, all of whom committed suicide before reaching a conclusion to the unfathomable question of infinity. This theme is brought to life by the lyrics of Mcshane, the artwork of Raymond Swanland (Deeds of Flesh, Psycroptic, Suffocation), and the mathematical compositions of Fraser. A monolith of progressive technical death metal awaits!
The Hypothesis Track Listing:
1. Hypothesis: A Profound Discovery
