Recorded once again at Berno Studio, where the previous two albums and several EPs were recorded, The Hallow Mass is indeed a MASSIVE experience, comprising seven epic-length tracks in an incredibly visual 63 minutes - or put more accurately, six central songs and one intermezzo, underlining DENIAL OF GOD's undeniably cinematic approach to metal. Indeed, within that cinematic experience lays the band's most varied and diverse album to date, and boldly do they begin with the 15-minute sorta-title track "Hallowmas," which includes a compelling middle section consisting solely of keyboards - even more bold for DENIAL OF GOD, as they generally end their albums with the longest track. Nevertheless, The Hallow Mass ends on a high note with the straightforward-yet-twisted "The Transylvanian Dream," and in between those two tracks do the trio somewhat subvert their trademark melancholy: more aggressive overall than, say, the solemn Death and the Beyond, but dive deeper into the material and discover that same strong sense of melancholy, built upon their characteristic horror aesthetic and theatrical performance. Of course, backed by outstanding drumming from Galheim, frontman Ustumallagam gives another commanding performance which further underlines DENIAL OF GOD's ever-unique nature: raw, blackened vocals that never become senseless screaming, but which actually make the lyrics relatively easy to understand and penetrate the listener's consciousness.

Topped off by stunningly atmospheric full-gatefold artwork by Markus Vesper, who delivered the unforgettable art for Death and the Beyond, DENIAL OF GOD's The Hallow Mass is the timely return of true BLACK HORROR METAL!

Formed in 2017, Coffin Rot quickly set to work on their first demo, following it a year later with another one as well as a split with comrades Molder. Wasting no time, now comes their full-length debut, A Monument to the Dead, displaying their swift mastery of the metal of death. Aptly titled, A Monument to the Dead is a timeless and trend-free synthesis of various eternal strains of death metal: Grave's proud 'n' powerful surge, Obituary’s no-frills crush, and the urgent depravity of early Cannibal Corpse, and a whole host of other equally stout influences. However, it's the manner in which Coffin Rot are able to rearrange these parameters into something horrific and, above all, immediately memorable: while by no means sticking to predictable verse/chorus rock-music structures, A Monument to the Dead retains an infectious catchiness whilst remaining resolutely and utterly dark and deathly. Death/doom metal band ESOGENESI have concocted a sublime blend that harnesses the power of death metal with the poignancy of doom metal, backed with an able, organic yet powerful sound that the band can call it their own. Even though this is only their debut, the quartet have outdone themselves in creating music with unfathomable depth and emotional poise. The five songs plod along with subtle but effective changes in mood, tempo and groove, and it often becomes imperative to revisit them to catch the brilliant nuances ensconced in the rumbling death metal-spiked parts. This is as good a debut as any to come out in the genre and it only solidifies the band's place in the increasing death/doom roster of Transcending Obscurity.

This EP consists of two new songs, “Ufrivillig Donation Af Vitale Organer” and “Man Binder Ikke Et Dødt Menneske”, both in the typical heavy down tuned style of brutality from the Danish band, similar to what you heard in “Misantropologi” from 2017. In the other hand, there’s an incredible rendition of cult Finnish masters FUNEBRE and the classic “Grip Of Insanity,”, the song that closes “Children Of The Scorn” from 1991. And if that’s not enough, the EP ends with a live version of “Indhentet Af Døden” from their 2010 debut with the same title. All in all, a great appetizer for new sickness to come by these butchers… Mandatory if you’re hungry for some steak!
