Italian Death Metal Band SONUM have signed a licensing deal with Wormholedeath for their album "Visceral Void Entropy", which is due for release on July 8th, 2022.

Signing statement:

"We've spent the last two years working hard, refining the compositional method, curating lyrics, sounds, arrangements and making sure our music reflects as truthfully as possible what the SONUM project is at its core. When you find someone who believes so much in your work to decide to become your partner is a wonderful thing, and this is what Wormholedeath has set out to do. For us, signing the contract is undoubtedly the culmination of a journey, but it is also the beginning of a new adventure, one that will hopefully be fruitful."

The band, talking about the album, said, "VISCERAL VOID ENTHROPY" is the culmination of two years of work, a musical path that has taken shape. If on paper what will be published will be to all intents and purposes a debut album, for us it will represent the point of arrival of an evolution started in the ep "Monolithic", with its cathy reminiscences, passed through the mini "Divide et Impera", in which the musical development has become more complex and intricate, and culminated in nine tracks composed and assembled to drag the listener into an infinite oblivion, in an abyss with no exit. As we wanted to write in our biography, the starting point is always Death Metal but without ever renouncing to the widening of musical horizons, fearlessly drawing on solutions typical of prog, rather than psychedelia or post-rock, moving away from the most traditional stylistic elements of the genre. Between moments of controlled and reasoned violence, we let ourselves go to explosions of savagery, but also to moments of respite, of apparent calm or icy quiet, constantly impregnating the record with a "pleasant" restlessness...we hope that listeners can appreciate."

• OBSCURITY, RAGE, DISSONANCE, DOOM • From a Death Metal base, exploring new dimensions of extreme Metal universe, feeding up sadness and wickedness… The line up is made up of experienced musicians who joined the project after years spent playing in other bands. After two EPs, (“Monolithic” 2020 and “Divide et Impera” 2021) in which the compositional approach and sound performances have evolved and matured, the character of the band finally takes shape on 9-track-debut album "VISCERAL VOID ENTROPY", The main influences are linked to bands such as Nero di Marte, Ulcerate, Deathspell Omega, Gorguts, Execration...but there are also references to other genres, like Doom/Psychrock for some atmospheres or Avant-garde classical music of Stockhausen, Penderecki and Mussorgsky in the orchestrations/arrangements and in the interludes.

Latvian heavy/thrash metal band Iron Wings have released a new album "Ritual of Rage". The album includes the song "Devil`s Lullaby" released last year and two songs that were released this year as the forerunners of the new album - "Apathy" and "Angel".

"The album was created by referring to and updating the art direction - symbolism, which developed in the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century - in literature, music, painting and sculpture. The origins of symbolism in French poetry can be traced back to the work of Charles Baudelaire (1821-1867), especially in the collection "Flowers of Evil" (1857), where sexuality, death, sin and other themes that are also relevant to Iron Wings' album "Ritual of Rage." In the music and lyrics, you can find quotations from famous artists, mythologies, paraphrases, and various symbols that have entered history and their indirect meanings. Denial of the current real situation, the new normal."

Cruentus was formed in Norrköping, Sweden, in 1998. Martin Öhman and Petter Bocian first started the band and shortly after Fredrik Larsson (later Karnell) joined. With influences mainly revolving around Scandinavian extreme metal bands, such as Edge of Sanity, Dissection, Entombed, At the Gates, Amorphis and Dark Tranquillity, but also from acts like Metallica and Iron Maiden, the group had a strong musical ground to evolve from.

The first couple of years the band rehearsed a lot, recorded two demos and played a few local shows. Shortly after this Fredrik left the band due to other commitments. Martin and Petter continued playing but not as regularly as before. It wasn’t until around 2010 they started to rehearse on a steady basis. Lots of songs were written and after some postponement the band released the first album in December of 2020.

The debut album was titled ”Night Embrace Me” and was recorded at Deathskull Studio C & D in the band’s hometown of Norrköping. Mixing and mastering was done by Magnus ”Devo” Andersson (ex-Marduk) at Endarker Studios Sweden. The album consists of 10 songs with musical elements of both death, thrash and black metal.

”Night Embrace Me” was released on CD by Thrash Corner Records and distributed in Asia and Europe. The album was also released on cassette by the Malaysian label Qalaqas Black Art. The band received good reviews and a lot of critics saw parables with the metal scene in the 1990s, and with a background in that scene, the band took great pride in those words.

In early 2022 the band teamed up with the Austrian metal label Kvlt und Kaos Productions for the release of their second album, ”Fossilized”, which will see the light of day July 15th 2022. The recording took place at Deathskull Studio E and Tomas Skogsberg mixed the album at Sunlight Studios. Skogsberg, most famous for the legendary Stockholm Death Metal Sound (Entombed, Dismember, etc.) made no mistake in getting the best possible sound for the band’s sophomore album. The mastering of the album was done by Sverker Widgren (Diabolical) at Wing Studios.

The album is a natural continuation of the debut, with the same aggressiveness and intensity, but refined to get a heavier and tighter sound. Lyrically the band expresses the different emotions coherent with being a human and the diversities of life itself and our coexistence with the present reality.

Cruentus is steadily writing new material, refining and improving the musical ability and songwriting leading to a better end result. The band has already started working on their third album and will continue evolving their music on the same path. With the same amount of aggressiveness mixed with more melodic parts. The goal is to raise the bar with each release.

The music of Consecration has always been touched by the black hand of despair, draped in shrouds of sadness. Their songs conjure vistas of desolation and paint pale ghosts of agony and loss on backdrops of storm riven twilight skies. They have explored the depths of melancholy and the echoing chambers of the dead and now, with the perfect line-up cemented in place they have discovered the absolute essence of their sound; a fluid coalescence of the rot and decay of ancient death metal and the sombre majesty of doom. The terrors of the tomb and the agonies of bereavement embrace becoming one...becoming Cinis.

The title, Cinis, is taken from the Latin meaning cold ashes and has numerous associations with death, destruction and ruin, extinguished love and burnt out hate. It’s the perfect title for Consecration’s third full length album which takes the listener in a chilling, irresistible embrace and carries them on a haunted odyssey of grief and fear. From the mountainous riffs of opener ‘The Dweller In The Tumulus’, through the ancient crypts of ‘Ground To Ashes (A Cremulation)’ featuring a bloodcurdling guest vocal from Dave Ingram (Benediction, ex-Bolt Thrower) and on into the visceral horrors of ‘The Charnel House’, Cinis is a bleak world to explore, a shadowed dream to wander and an unforgettable listening experience. Daniel Bollans’ evocative vocals are a tumultuous roar, a cold whisper from the other side of death, a blood-choked, guttural invocation or a shrieking cry from an inescapable nightmare. A versatile narrator, he strides through the landscapes created by the guitars of Liam Houseago and Andy Matthews and crawls the lightless deeps carved out by the rhythm section of bassist Shane Amies and drummer Jorge Figueiredo.

Bollans is also responsible for the enthralling artwork which cloaks Cinis, full of references to the unnerving tales within. Meanwhile the job of ensuring that the sound quality of Cinis was a match for its incredible songs and visual presentation was handed over to Greg Chandler (Esoteric, Officium Triste, Convocation etc) whose mastering has drawn every last sanguine drop of power from each tortured note, making Cinis complete – a perfect, dark whole. The Athenian metal band Daylight Misery, inspired by the loss of their dear friend Dimitris Theodoropoulos (member of the progressive metal band Rex Mundi from Thessaloniki) on the 31st of May 2021 from cancer, decided to write a song called “Cancerworm” which is based on his story and everything he has been through over the last years of his life. The purpose of this song is to raise money which will be offered in his memory to children who suffer from neoplastic diseases.

Many known artists from the Heavy Metal scene participated in “Cancerworm”. Specifically, guest vocals were done by Aaron Stainthorpe from the British band the legendary MY DYING BRIDE as well as Sakis Tolis, founder, guitarist, and leader of the biggest metal band in Greece, ROTTING CHRIST. Furthermore, the guitar solo of the song was played by the Greek guitar player Gus G. who has a brilliant career with his main band FIREWIND and with his solo work as well. It should be noted that during the period of 2009-2017, he was the guitarist of OZZY OSBOURNE and launched with him the full-length album “Scream”. Vocals were done by Vassilis Mazaris, bass player by Aggelos Malisovas while Nicos B. played the guitar. The lyrics were written by Vassilis Mazaris and the music was created by Nicos B.

On the song also participated Harris Pazaroulas, performed in the double bass quartet, Kostas Panagiotou member of the Greek-British metal band PANTEIST on keyboards and Bill Papanikolakis on drums as a session member. The recording/mixing/mastering of the song was done by George Bokos at Grindhouse Studios Athens while the lyric video was created by John Kaimakamis and the Nightwatchers. Graphics were edited by Jon Toussas for Graphic No Jutsu.

Well known for their high energy live performances, and having supported the likes of FLOTSAM & JETSAM, PRIMAL FEAR, LITA FORD, and more, The Greater Good of Man sees the band distill their captivating sound. Following the departure of vocalist and founding member Brian Garrison, two-time Blues Music Award winner and European Blues Award nominee Lisa Mann stepped into the role. Lisa was by no means a stranger to the world of metal having released her heavy debut album under the pseudonym of WHITE CRONE receiving raving reviews in the underground scene. Despite the pandemic disrupting initial plans, the band have produced an astounding new record. Opening with the enthralling “The Reaper is Calling”, SPLINTERED THRONE bring a high-spirited energy into the deadly track. Channeling their melodic essence, this opening number aptly establishes the mood of the album. The title track, “The Greater Good of Man” delivers bluesy influences with dynamic bass, groove rhythms, and soaring vocals. Yielding a thrilling pace of high-speed riffs, and unrelenting energy, the epic lyrical narrative of “Night of the Heathens” draws the listener into the storytelling. SEEP RELEASE "HYMNS TO THE GORE"

One-man death/doom project SEEP is set to unleash its full-length debut, Hymns to the Gore on Extremely Rotten Productions. Hailing from the rural countryside of Maine, SEEP mastermind Vomitus set out to expand upon his 2020 demo by adding elements of goregrind and brutal death to an already violent doom/death foundation. The end result is eight depraved offerings of unfettered, old-school brutality. 

Vomitus comments on the album, “I love all things death metal, particularly unpolished obscurities from the 90s/00s. This entire album is an ode to that - back when death metal was about gross shit, had raw production, and was all about being as heavy as humanly possible.”

The new EP is called WAIRUA and contains five new songs including three older bonus tracks. In the world of the Tangata Whenua, the indigenous people of New Zealand, Wairua is described as the non-physical spirit of a person which exists beyond death. It represents the life essence of every human being.

On the content level, this EP represents an exciting musical journey, exploring the deep mythology of the Māori. Here, topics were deliberately chosen that can also be transferred to today's challenges of modern societies. In addition, all tracks are related to each other in terms of content.

As on the previous EP, WAIRUA contains spherical melodic death metal tracks that occasionally make use of elements from black metal and death doom.

California blackened death lords GORESKINCOFFIN have released the official music video for "It Will Not Die," taken from the band's new album Release My Suffering."

Filmed in the depths of Mendocino, CA, "It Will Not Die" is the band's first visual depiction of lyrical content. Footage was shot at a location known as a popular Satanic ritual site in the 1970s. The song's lyrics deal with substance abuse, chemical dependency, depression, and suicide. The video was done by Scotland-based Obscenery Films (Dee Snider, Misery Index, Cattle Decapitation).

Originally formed in 2011 from the ashes of other local death metal groups, GORESKINCOFFIN started as a three-piece featuring Dean Rice (drums), Dustin Stark (guitar/vocals), and Justice Reckis (bass). The trio wrote and released their debut album, Corpse Filled Caskets, that same year. The album drew influences from black and death metal bands, both classic and modern.

Following a six-year hiatus, GORESKINCOFFIN returned with the addition of Cody Winter on vocals. The band released their second full-length, Shattered Conceptions Ov Reality, in 2017. Guitarist Randy Hoofard joined the fold shortly thereafter. In 2018, the band released the Cursed Paths EP.

GORESKINCOFFIN then amicably parted ways with Hoofard, a move that saw Reckis pick up guitar duties and the addition of new bassist Edgar Castro-Salazar. The newly invigorated lineup released the “Wrath and Ruin” single in 2021 before going to work on their newest burnt offering, Release My Suffering.

Whispering atop the ominous sands of opener “The Sun Has Set on the Age of Man” are resonant flutes and forewarning percussion, and immediately, the album’s impactful production and crystal clarity is apparent. Produced by Sanders with mixing and mastering by Simone Mularoni at Domination Studio, the most subtle details of instrumentation shine. “The Disembodied Yet Slither Among Us” peaks between soulful acoustic guitar renderings and droning tones, ushering in “The Evil Inherent in All of Us”, featuring another uniquely thematic axe contribution by Cooley, and surfaces as an energetic jam and standout departure from the Saurian blueprint. “Skull Fuck Ritual (Skull Breach Edition)” begins eerily with a cautionary chime before its marching drums make way for Middle Eastern-inspired leads, bridging the journey to the 6+ minute desolating trek “Nada Zaag”. Fans will hear an alluring Oud (Middle Eastern lute) solo by Mustafa Stefan Dill and rare acoustic jazz drums by current NILE percussion goliath George Kollias on “An Altered Saurian Theta State”, before the seductive auditory excursion “Nihil Emplexus” and its iridescent strums and ominous chants signal the beginning of the end. Sitar-like sounds immediately ensnare the listener on “Divergence: The Long Awaited Third Primordial Ascension” before hopeful lutes make way for heart wrenching electric shred. Far-Eastern stylings creep in on “Mask of Immutable Self Delusion”, a tranquil moment of atmospheric bliss, before the album closes with the 10 minute epic “No Creature More Deserving of Cataclysmic Annihilation” – featuring the deft skills of jazz guitarist Matthew Kay and the panicked, incensed narration of Jonathan “ADD” Garofoli as Dr. Eduardo Lucciani himself.

Forever Negative is the demonic new release from the death metal trio, BLACK NEGATIVE DOMINATION. Devised by Stefan Lang, the band came together as members connected online leading to the release of their debut EP War in 2019. Forever Negative unveils the fierce growth in their sound as brutal distortion, dynamic melodies and relentless energy exudes dark savagery.

Guttural vocals and ghastly shrieks capable of waking the dead soar above intense, fast guitars in "My Abyss", summoning the portal to the depths below. Intricate melodies across cleaner tones intersperse the black enhancing the sound scaping across the tracks. The melodic introduction of "Forever Negative" delivers a haunting atmosphere before the devilish distortion takes a hold. The instrumentation takes the limelight with the instrumental "Goodbye (Is Forever)", while "I Like It When You Cry" evinces a diabolical sense of malevolence.

SINNERY RELEASE VIDEO FOR "THE BURNING"

Hailing from Israel, Sinnery is a new take on the traditional death metal sound. They bring something more modern, with more melody, but maintain just as much energy and brutality. They have a new album coming out, the much anticipated “Black Bile”, six years after their debut. In the time since then, they have melted more influences into their sound, and morphed from a predominantly thrash sound to something darker, and heavier. Swept up with melodic breaks amidst the gutturals, they wrap their music in modern layers. The album contains ten tracks; the first of which, “The Burning” is the enticing debut single. The band explains it in their own words:

“The Burning'' is probably the most popular song with the fans even before it comes out, the fans chant “God bless the human race” on every show so it was a no-brainer picking it out to be the first single off of the album. It is an upbeat thrash song with many heavy and groovy moments. It was perfect for the beginning of the album, to start with a bang, with no introductions or orchestral intros just straight-up metal from the get-go. Lyrically the song’s full name was The Burning of Mt. Sinai and so it’s easy to know this song is an anti-religious song, coming from Israel, religion is a big part of the atmosphere where we grew up, and we are not very fond of those establishments that are more about power and money than the lessons in those books they sell.”

Coming at the listener fast and hard is the name of the game for Sinnery. They infuse their music with real true emotions and messages, nothing about it is made up, it’s all very personal and they really dug into the deepest, darkest parts of themselves to write this album. They anticipate that it’ll be received well and expect that listeners will find that sense of realness in it amidst relentless riffs and catchy melodies.

“Black Bile” is fast and full of energy, making it the perfect record to spin when getting amped up. Whether it's for driving fast, headbanging, or hitting the gym, this is a wickedly fun album to listen to.

Cold Are The Graves follows 2019's acclaimed sophomore album Church of Bones, one that raised the bar even higher compared to the band's self-titled debut album. Monasterium is a Polish band founded in 2014 and dedicated to epic heavy/doom metal. All members of the brotherhood are experienced musicians sharing passion, common vision and belief in the power of traditional metal. These virtues have brought them to their eponymous first full length album released in May 2016 by No Remorse Records.

Monasterium won critical acclaim of the metal underground and was promoted live at the highly esteemed European metal festivals: Hammer Of Doom, Up The Hammers, Malta Doom Metal Festival, Doom over Vienna, and the Seeds of Doom festival.

In 2019 Monasterium released sophomore album Church Of Bones via Nine Records. While offering a broad variety in the songwriting, all eight anthems are the worship of the classic sound and stand tall in the fight for true metal.
