By now, ACID WITCH require little introduction. Since 2007, the Detroit crew of mischievous miscreants have patiently crafted an ever-singular sound that's equal parts doom, death metal, psych rock, and horror-movie soundtrack. And while their full-length discography is semi-sparse, each ACID WITCH album is a momentous event, showcasing another dark 'n' delirious side to these Halloween-obsessed savants.

Then again, since the release of 2017's Evil Sound Screamers, ACID WITCH have certainly stayed busy on the short-length front, not to mention founding frontman/keyboardist Slasher Dave's soundtrack-oriented solo work. That latter element comes ever more to the fore on the band's fourth full-length, Rot Among Us. That preceding album surely emphasized those synths, as well, bringing the band's beloved horror canon of the '70s and '80s into sharper focus, but ACID WITCH top even that with Rot Among Us. Much, much darker and deadly serious but somehow clearer and more drug-crazed, Rot Among Us shows ACID WITCH in rarefied form, retaining their core sound but lacing each of these 10 anthems with a lysergic sense of starpower that's simply larger than life. A devilish sense of fun prevails, as it always has in the ACID WITCH world, but they take these arena-ready anthems in a gutsfucking and grimy direction that's absolutely DARK at the very, bitter end - and all of it's threaded together with acutely filmic samples, making that path to that end like a movie itself.

High Command returns with their second full length album Eclipse of the Dual Moons, arriving 25th November via Southern Lord and produced with Seth Manchester.

Swords and metal go hand in hand. That’s what crossover thrash band High Command say, having turned heads with their debut album Beyond The Wall of Desolation (2019).

“Our love for the bay area in the 80’s is certainly no secret. Besides some of the more obvious influences we have I think we were much more comfortable exploring some of the less obvious stuff we hinted at with the first record. Particularly traditional heavy metal (Dio, Mercyful Fate) the south’s interpretation of the bay area (Exhorder, Obituary, Nasty Savage, Devastation, Rigor Mortis) first wave black metal (Bathory, Hellhammer/Celtic Frost). Of course all of this executed with the discharge, Cro mags, Sacrilege DNA that runs through our veins”

But it’s not solely metal music which influences the band, who cite the lustful violence of Robert E. Howard, Michel Moorcock, Jack Vance and many other legendary pulp writers of the 20th century as an impetus for their expansive storytelling.

“People would also be surprised to hear we drew quite a bit of inspiration from the music of Ennio Morricone, especially in regards to writing some more of the epic, grandiose passages and chord progressions.” says the band.

Now, with their second album, Eclipse of the Dual Moons, the band take their love of storytelling a step further, deepening and widening the world of Secartha, the realm of High Command’s songs. The band place themselves as omniscient narrators of the world they have created, and say that they are inseparable from Secartha and its people.

“It’s one thing to make a good metal record, but it’s another to put on top of it a sort of overarching story that makes sense to listeners. The whole High Command project is enriched by lyrics articulating characters, a world, and trials faced within it. We want our records to be immersive and leave listeners with a feeling they’ve experienced something bigger than the music.”

It’s not just a question of widening the world, which the band first started exploring on The Secartha Demos (2016); Eclipse of the Dual Moons sees High Command honing their process to a fine art “it’s like we started with chiseling a rock… this record is the moment the rock in question begins to look like an actual sculpture.”

The band will be on tour throughout North America in October, as part of their Season of the Witch Tour, with Dead Heat and Final Gasp.

"Immaculate Deception is a song about societal pressure and feelings of remorse over time.

The main point I want to highlight is the concept of time and the fear that comes with it. We all reach a point where we start noticing that we're aging. In current society, there's a big push to try and preserve our physical state. There's a huge movement of cosmetic procedures and products that promise us "eternal youth". People like to think that they can keep reliving their 20s, instead of embracing the natural course of life and the challenges and rewards that come with it.

To bring this vision to life, we focused on our main character coming face to face with different versions of herself: her naturally aged older self chasing her with an imaginary "mob" (representing society) and her unrecognizable cosmetically altered self staring at her through the mirror. She ultimately realizes she can not run anymore.

Remorse is a powerful feeling and influencing factor for a lot of our decisions, but the fact is you can never go back in time and change the things you've done. All you can do is learn and push yourself to be better over time.

Odium Records announces signing the new, unique Swedish band HILD. It’s the new band of Lars Broddesson, known as ex drummer of Marduk and session drummer of Funeral Mist and Black Altar. Debut album “ValFreiya” is going to be released on October 7th as a 6 panels digi pack and contains 12 songs of violent Thrash metal with Black and Crust influences. The band is deeply influenced by the Nordic mythology and Mysticism.

“HILD, meaning battle/strife, is a war and battle themed project centred around the Valkyries of Nordic mythology. Each song named after, and honouring, a specific Valkyrie, channelling their respective traits.

HILD came to life in a flash one late summer evening while walking entranced through the landscape. I was instructed by my higher powers to head back to my studio and complete a 2-minutes song in one session.

The aim was to do so as Thrash Metal under the banner of HILD, a band name I´d had in the back of my head for some time.

The divine spark of inspiration hit immediately and I had most of the song and entire concept ready in my head before I was back at the studio to record. The song, ValFreiya, Took 5 hours roughly.

I got a taste for it and decided to keep it going and not let any song be longer than 2:30 or take more than 6-7 hours to complete. A few weeks later I had 12 songs, an album, finished barely knowing what happened.

It's raw, relentless energy! We go for that feeling of violent rapture and ecstatic rush.

That primal, wild animal connection when you feel absolutely amazing, yet want to wreck everything around you.

That´s fucking Thrash Metal for you! Influences like Black Metal, Crust and Hardcore naturally came along during the work, creating a sound of its own. But it´s all about Thrash energy. I ended up with the slogan "Violent Swedish Metal" for it.

Cos that´s what it´s about. Maximum energy! Headfirst into the pit! Face up to your fate!

The battles of Life and death, the strife and the struggles in joyous abandon knowing you can die any second.

The roaring death entities roaring in the wind while we play with our lives at stake laughing in madness.

That´s HILD. We´re the soundtrack to that!"

Fargo (ND) - North Dakota's resident Death Dealers GORGATRON will release the Agony Reborn EP November 4 on digital and cassette formats via Blood Blast Distribution. The cassette version is limited to 100 copies and also includes four exclusive live tracks on Side B.

The first single from Agony Reborn, "The Unwilling," will be released on October 14 on all digital platforms, along with the official video for the track.

The EP, which is the final release of the Blood Blast Distribution deal, consists of three original studio recordings and a cover of Sepultura's "Dead Embryonic Cells." GORGATRON's sound is based on a “love of the riff” approach to writing and rooted in the old-school stylings of Death Metal and Thrash, one that comes across loud and clear on Agony Reborn. Antipathic born from an idea of Chris (from Human Repugnance), that proposes to Tat0 (from Glacial Fear , Zora, Defechate, Throne of flesh) to start a new project in February of 2017, in which to pour all the whole passion for the extreme music thatthey for a long time cultivate.

With Chris from the United States to the guitar and drums, and Tat0 from Italy to the voice and the bass guitar, the combo made immediately the first ep, Autonomous Mechanical Extermination, published to April 2017; three songs that space among the grind the brutal and the slam, with strong matrix death metal.

Brutality and apocalyptic sceneries are the principal ingredients of the proposed music, and it is on this line that immediately put on to the job on the full length, Humanimals, out for Despise the Sun Records in January 2019; a work composed of 12 tracks in which the band continues to narrate the apocalyptic theme of the predominance of machines and artificial intelligence on the man.

IMPERIUM appears as a monumental work with 175 minutes playing time. However, the three parts of the journey can also be considered as three separate, self-contained albums.

While "VEHEMENZ" and "RUIN" also lyrically tell a continuous story, the last part "EREMIT" is a single instrumental frenzy. A 53-minute track that on the one hand represents the typical FIUR sound but on the other hand makes it more versatile and multi-layered with many influences than ever before: Furious blast-beat walls, melodic death metal parts, even heavy doom metal, softer parts and more present synthesizers give this journey a progressive touch.

A wandering in the shadows of the powers and forces of nature, which drive the wanderer into the deepest depths where he encounters the destructive nature of man in visions.

RUIN

Nature holds a judgment on mankind, executes the sentence and re-establishes its power.

A swan song to humanity, a last reflection of the only remaining soul on the loss of wonder and harmony with nature.

After 5 years, Bleeding are back stronger than ever, with a new album. The concept behind "Universe 25" is dealing with the famous/infamous behavioral experiment of the same name, conducted by scientist John B. Calhoun. Though split up in 14 pieces, the album should be digested as a whole, a sonic journey to the realms of beavioral degradation and the question, how much of a mouse is in a man. Is the experiment from back then still relevant for us today? On the musical side, Bleeding have kept their trademark thrashy and proggy elements, while adding up on the atmospherical side, to provide an entertaining listening pleasure throughout the entire album.

Lies That Comfort Me is NOT about social media. It’s about us. How we flaunt our kids to feel fulfilled. How we turn our interests into likes. How we find outlets for our psychopathic tendencies. "Blasphemous Communion" was PATHOGEN's debut full length album recorded and mixed at Mrs. Milet Jacinto's home studio in Banaue, Quezon City on August 26th and September 16th 2007

It was originally independently released by the band on D.I.Y. Cdr in October 2008 which also acted as a promo for fanzines and labels,

It was then released on CDr with pro-printed cover on jewel case by Evil Dead Productions, Malaysia in May 2008 and followed by a limited pro-cassette tape version in June of 2008

Again it was re-released on limited edition pro-cassette tape by Carnal Sadist Productions, Florida, USA in early 2009

Pro-CD versions was released by Old Cemetery Records, USA in August 2009 with remastered audio by DB at Noiseworks Studio

Another pro-CD version was re-released by Dead Center Productions (Russia) and Wings Of Destruction (Ukraine)

A 12" vinyl version was released by Iron Bonehead Productions, Germany in February 2010.

The album was re-issued on pro-CD in February 2019 with the original Hans Staden artwork and bonus tracks by Arauto Da Morte Records and Pictures From Hell Productions, Brazil.
