WEED DEMON RELEASE "THE DOOM SCROLL"

PRESS RELEASE:

Weed Demon

The Doom Scroll

Electric Valley Records

31 January 2025

Weed Demon returns with their third LP, The Doom Scroll, revamping their sludged-out stoner doom with death/thrashing atrocity, often weaving through hallucinatory dungeon synth passages. Scheduled for 31 January 2025 via Electric Valley Records, this new album will be available on three vinyl variants as well as on digital platforms.

The audio equivalent of bong water spilled on a Ouija board, Weed Demon is a 4-piece sludge ‘n’ roll stoner metal band from Columbus, OH. Over the last decade, they have released an EP and two full-length albums, steadily building their presence in the stoner rock and sludge metal scenes. As they continue to push the boundaries of their sound, Weed Demon captivates audiences with relentless creativity and a crushing cosmic vision. Whether through thunderous riffs or ethereal explorations, they invite listeners on a journey into the far reaches of sound and imagination.

It’s been nearly a decade since Weed Demon exhaled a cloud of riffs over the doom metal scene with their debut EP, Stoned to Death. Since then, they’ve consistently delivered a steady dose of sludgy, groove-laden stoner doom potent enough to make Beelzebub himself bang his horns. Their last release, Crater Maker, dropped during the pandemic and saw the band reaching new heights of heaviness while staying true to their signature doom groove worship.

Never ones to revisit the same playbook twice, the Demon boys are back with The Doom Scroll, a reinvention of their signature sludge ‘n’ roll style of doom. Equal parts unrelenting and crushing, yet infused with heavy blues-inspired riffage, this new chapter sees Weed Demon expanding their sonic horizons like never before, with the help of Stoneripper Studios. Expect doom, gloom, sludge, thrash, death, blues, and even a dash of dungeon synth for good measure. The Doom Scroll is a packed bowl, and Weed Demon is giving you the first hit.

The vinyl edition of The Doom Scroll includes a secret track—a cover of Frank Zappa’s “Willy the Pimp,” a classic reknown for Captain Beefheart’s idiosyncratic vocal grit and Zappa’s epic, extended guitar solo.

MUTANK RELEASE VIDEO FOR "THINK BEFORE YOU THINK"

PRESS RELEASE:

Rattling the moshpits worldwide with their new album "Think Before You Think" on Boonsdale Records, Montreal, Canada's MUTANK is offering a slab of new mind-blowing speed thrash with their latest video "Channel Change". It's a song about media melting your brain and your choice to either form something new from it yourself or let them do it for you.

Watch the video for "Channel Change" via its premiere on MetalAddicts HERE.

MUTANK made a big impression on the Canadian metal scene in 2014 with their debut EP "M.E.C.H METAL". In that same year, they were also declared champions of the Wacken Metal Battle Canada which garnered them a performance at Wacken Open Air (Live Video - https://youtu.be/yQrLaG8BPL4). By 2017, the band took their distinctive sound and hit the road to tour across Canada supporting ANNIHILATOR alongside Australia's MASON in support of their highly praised EP "W.H.A.T.S.T.H.A.T" (Boonsdale Records). Metal Injection also named MUTANK "1 of 8 Hidden Gems in Canadian Metal You Need To Know" (Read here).

After a short hiatus, MUTANK has exploded back on the scene with their new album "Think Before You Think" unleashed this past November. The new album features a rampage of ten thrash happy tracks with fan favourites such as "Running Reds", "Abortron", and "Thrash Primordial". With a passion for classic thrash and a desire to play radical riffs, MUTANK made

"This is Thrash for Metalheads by Metalheads! We have evolved from crossover to a more refined thrash band with longer and more intricate songs, it can be a bit proggy… The level of seriousness in songwriting is evident in the new album. We want this album to energize people and make them feel the way we do when we listen to some of our favourite artists. This album is the most material we have ever put out! 50 minutes of pure metal across 10 tracks. The songs picked themselves as we kept writing tracks we enjoyed playing. Lyrically we cover a lot of ground from the economy to time travel.” adds the band.

Moving into 2025, MUTANK plans to be a tour de force to support "Think Before You Think". Fans of D.R.I., Suicidal Tendencies, Havok, Megadeth, Overkill, and Exodus are sure to join them in the circle pit.

AVENGER OF BLOOD RELEASE "REVENGE IS MY NAME"

PRESS RELEASE:

Death/Thrash Metal stalwarts AVENGER OF BLOOD sign to M-Theory Audio and bring you a new single/lyric video entitled “Revenge Is My Name.” Ripping and ruthless, “Revenge Is My Name” takes no prisoners in its all-out assault as the band pummels and crushes all in their wake. Listen now on all digital platforms or watch HERE https://youtu.be/gw0rwLRaQeo?si=4YOFATR15dyMlojr

"’Revenge Is My Name’ is a song about violence and anger! The inspiration came from our love of slasher and horror films, as well as a lot of the first-person perspectives you see on social media and such these days,” explains drummer Shannon Frye. “The world can be a violent place, and songs like this are an outlet for those who experience the same thing."

“Revenge Is My Name” is the first slice from the band’s forthcoming EP of the same name. The ‘Revenge Is My Name’ EP features four new songs from the re-energized quintet and will be released April 25th on limited (200 copies) throes of ash colored vinyl and CD. Preorders launch today HERE https://lnk.to/avengerofblood

"We are excited to work with Marco and the M-Theory Audio staff,” states Shannon. “Having been friends for a long time and knowing Marco's dedication, work ethic and knowledge, we knew we made the right decision in this new partnership! We look forward to releasing this new EP and much more great things to come."

M-Theory label president Marco Barbieri has been a fan of the group almost 20 years and their paths have crossed many times over the years whether it was being considered for Century Media, handling music publishing deals, booking AOB on locals shows, producing a single for Relapse, or handling digital distribution, Marco has always lent a helping hand to the guys and he’s proud to finally add them to the label roster.

Originally hailing from the Bay Area thrash scene, AVENGER OF BLOOD moved down to Las Vegas after recording a couple demos. Capturing a deal with JCM Records the group issued their debut ‘Complete Annihilation’ in 2005 which put AVENGER OF BLOOD on the map and conscience of thrash fans worldwide. Several opportunities presented themselves to perform at festivals like Minneapolis Mayhem, Millennium Music Conference, Monsters of Metal and the Northwest Deathfest. Two years later AOB appeared on the infamous ‘Speed Kills… Again’ compilation, which featured unknown names at the time like Warbringer, Toxic Holocaust, Enforcer and Merciless Death setting the stage for the thrash revival. The same label, Heavy Artillery, signed AVENGER OF BLOOD and released the classic album ‘Death Brigade’ in 2008, which even featured cover art from Joe Petagno (infamous for Motorhead, in addition to works by Krisiun and Sodom). Momentum was halted when singer/guitarist Eric Greaney and bassist Shawn Loureiro left the group, but Shannon and guitarist Marc Flores have persevered by bringing in new musicians to keep the dream alive recording various releases, such as a split 7” with Witchaven, the ‘Spawn of Evil’ EP (2012) and ‘On Slaying Ground’ full-length (2016). Now having a stable line-up for the past years, rounded out by singer Sal Lalli, guitarist Chris Garcia, and bassist Corey Sorrenti, the group even re-recorded the band’s debut last year calling it ‘Completely Re-Annihilated’ and performing at Blades of Steel Fest, alongside Flotsam & Jetsam, Vio-lence, Exciter, Jag Panzer, Massacre, Artillery and Riot V, as well as supporting Death Angel and Ruthless on shows in NV and CA. AVENGER OF BLOOD is ready to punish you relentlessly on ‘Revenge Is My Name’ with live performances in the works and already starting to lay down the full-length for 2026.

CEREBRAL HEMORRHAGE RELEASE "EXEMPTING REALITY"

PRESS RELEASE:

CEREBRAL HEMORRHAGE – EXEMPTING REALITY

LABEL: COMATOSE MUSIC

RELEASE DATE: JANUARY 17th 2025

There is movement beneath the soil, the earth shifting and resettling, sinking and splitting, as if the very foundations of the world are beginning to crumble. Down in the darkness, in the unseen kingdom of worms, an eye is burning brightly; sinews shaped by strange sorcery strain against their horrid confinement and bone fingers dig towards the light. Rotting teeth gnaw at roots and rubble that dare to impede the creature’s passage through this cold and suffocating birth canal. There are things in this world that simply will not die, no matter how deeply they are buried...

We often hear of ‘lost gems’ from the underground, forgotten albums that should have been hailed as great works, but somehow slipped down the cracks of public perception. In most cases these treasures prove to be so much fool’s gold and dust, wistful thinking and nostalgia…but sometimes, on rare occasions, something truly special claws its way up from the boneyard and into the night air. Something like Cerebral Hemorrhage’s Exempting Reality. Originally released back in 2001, Exempting Reality was the only album released by New York’s Cerebral Hemorrhage, but what an album it was! A piece of death metal mastery that blended brutality with imagination, haunting atmosphere with musical adventure, crushing heaviness with a breathtaking willingness to explore and push boundaries. Now, the label that understands death metal better than any other – Comatose Music – has broken open Exempting Reality’s tomb. Remastered by Colin Davis (Aborted, Defeated Sanity, Origin etc), with new cover art, Exempting Reality is an album reborn.

The passing years have done nothing to blunt the vicious edges of the songs that make up Exempting Reality, or to dull the creative spirit that infuses them. ‘Abusive Power’ is still shockingly good with its array of stunning riffs and wonderful drumming. ‘Remnants Of The Final Solution’ remains revelatory with its fluid melodic section and jazz inflections and the surging guitar patterns and imposing vocals of ‘Deranged Perception’ are as hypnotic and deadly as a cobra. If you missed this before then don’t make that mistake again – second chances don’t come along every day and nor do albums as special as Cerebral Hemorrhage’s Exempting Reality. Coming your way on Comatose Music on January 17th 2025.

Matt Szablewicz - Vocals

Matt Doreson - Guitar, Bass, Keyboards & Backing Vocals

Tommy - Drums

NEST OF PLAGUES RELEASE "BLACKENED SKY" VISUALIZER

PRESS RELEASE:

Blackened Sky is a story about a person who climbs up a mountain with all his effort to find the meaning of his life. On his way, he fights against physical obstacles put against him by nature like unbearable cold and extreme heights that he tries to overcome, while he also struggles with his mind. He goes through devouring thoughts in his head every second of every minute as in his mind he tries to defeat social expectations and the pressure on his shoulders created by society (or himself?). When he reaches the top, he finds absolute solitude and strength. There is only him and the endless sky there.

The song is the second single from Nest of Plagues’ third concept album ‘Hellsolation’ being released this September. The album deals with social problems and creates a metaphor for the struggles that we all go through every day. In the video of Blackened Sky, the band visualizes how vulnerable and helpless a person can be while life hurdles problems at them - they just stand silently and bear the pain while they’re constantly hit in the face by ‘bombs’. Despite the serious lyrical message, they don’t break away from their eclecticism - the video has a trash horror image and doesn’t neglect humor either.

Watch the visualizer:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALZPOXCIcn0

With their lyrics, Nest of Plagues reflects on modern social diseases like social anxiety, depression, and the feeling of loneliness that people can collectively feel. Sharing this message, they encourage people to face their mental problems and connect, use the power of community. Bringing a fresh sound to the stage, they expanded from a metalcore sound into groove metal with elements of alternative metal while still adding a little core edge to the mix. Due to their eclectic image and powerful live performances, they bring a little joy and fun where it seems there is only darkness.

The song was mixed and mastered by Gábor Vári, the producer of Miracle Sound. The music video was produced by Peter John Kiss. Artwork were created by Sándor Szalay.

CADAVER ANNOUNCE REISSUES ON LISTENABLE RECORDS

PRESS RELEASE:

CADAVER was formed in 1988 by Anders Odden and Ole Bjerkebakke. Their first full-length, 'Hallucinating Anxiety' (1990), was the first Norwegian death metal album. CADAVER  have had a rather turbulent history as they have disbanded and reunited on several occasions throughout the years.

Between 1999-2001 the group was also briefly known as Cadaver Inc. Founding member and primary songwriter Anders Odden is the only member that has been in band's all line-ups.

Listenable records will reissue the much sought after ’Necrosis’ album previously released on Candlelight in 2004 and also an obscure collection of unreleased recordings from 1992 under the title of ‘Hymns of Misanthropy’ showcasing CADAVER’s raw and non typical material that pushes the boundaries of what extreme music in all its original uncompromising authenticity .

Those recordings were enhanced at Tomb studio Norway and remastered at Temple of Disharmony studio in Germany.

Cover art is taken from ‘Christ in Limbo’ painting in oil on panel (1575), made by an unknown follower of Bosch.

The painting is owned by Martha Delzell Memorial Fund.

The band comments :

"Brace yourselves: in 2025, CADAVER returns to its roots with 'Hymns of Misanthropy’,  an unrelenting anthem of disdain for the human condition. Humanity has proven its failures time and time again, and we’re here to channel that frustration into raw, unfiltered metal that speaks to everyone who’s fed up with the chaos.

Expect crushing riffs, relentless grooves, and lyrics drenched in scorn, all infused with the old-school brutality that only Cadaver can deliver.

This album is more than music—it’s a call to embrace the darkness, reject the facade, and let misanthropy fuel the fire within.

Stay tuned, because 'Hymns of Misanthropy' isn’t just an album—it’s a reckoning.

CADAVER is back. And this time, we’re leaving no stone unbroken. »

CADAVER : ‘Hymns of Misanthropy’ is schedule for a 25/04/2025 release date .

The band has also confirmed a live appearance at Inferno festival in Oslo.

AVULSED RELEASE "PHOENIX CRYPTOBIOSIS"

PRESS RELEASE:

Since 1991 Avulsed have blazed a path through the death metal underground, lead by their talismanic vocalist and front man, Dave Rotten. Albums like the revered Stabwound Orgasm and the supremely destructive Gorespattered Suicide established them as an integral part of the scene and their live performances remain legendary for their furious intensity. Yet, since 2013s Ritual Zombi, the band haven’t released a full length album of new material, with some members seeming to lose the passion and creative spark that is so vital for a band like the turbo-charged Avulsed. However, rumours of Avulsed’s imminent demise have now been dealt a savage death blow, with the Spanish kings of extremity erupting from the shadows once more with a rejuvenated line-up and a new album that is set to propel the band to new heights of horror! Prepare for the skull crushing onslaught of Phoenix Cryptobiosis!

Even those fully aware of the huge potential of Avulsed to deliver pulverising brutality of the highest order will be shocked by just what a potent weapon Phoenix Cryptobiosis is. The influx of new members has lead to an astonishing rebirth of this heaviest of bands. The song writing is stronger than it’s ever been, each track steeped in atmosphere and exuding a malicious radiance of absolutely classic death metal. The individual performances are staggering – from the inhuman vocal roar to the riffs that deftly dissect the helpless listener, the monolithic underpinning of the bass and the breathtaking, bone-snapping drumming to the solos that climb and dive, the flickering notes like motes of light dancing in the heat of a funeral pyre. This is the kind of album that defines a genre, laying out exactly what death metal is really all about, what lies at its putrefying heart. ‘Bio-Cadaver’, ‘Guts Of The Gore Gods’, ‘Unrotted’…these are the songs that death metal needed as we enter 2025, the songs that will see Avulsed and the genre they love and live for bulldozing ahead, stronger than ever before.

Adorned with the stunning cover imagery created by Daemorph Art (Traumatomy, Stabbing, The Black Dahlia Murder etc) and mastered to absolute perfection by Davide Billia (Beheaded, Devangelic, Posthuman Abomination etc), Xtreem Music will unleash Phoenix Cryptobiosis on CD, vinyl and cassette on March 4th and a new age of chaos will begin!

SLAUGHTERSUN RELEASE "BLACK MARROW"

PRESS RELEASE:

Slaughtersun

Black Marrow

10 January 2025

SLAUGHTERSUN’s new EP, Black Marrow, pulses with the fierce intensity of a band that has only just begun to stake its claim in the death metal world. Officially formed in 2023 by band leader Ben Karas—known for his work with THANK YOU SCIENTIST and WINDFÆRER—SLAUGHTERSUN unites seasoned musicians to create a sound that’s both brutal and strikingly innovative. The Black Marrow EP, which will be released on January 10th, 2025, is a relentless journey through dark soundscapes and visceral storytelling, refined by a group that is unafraid to push boundaries in an already intense genre.

Composed of their first four singles, the EP brings together the songs that introduced SLAUGHTERSUN’s fierce identity over 2023 and 2024. Each track has been meticulously remixed and remastered, with every detail carefully adjusted to enhance its depth and aggression. The EP opens with "Unearthly Propaganda," a chilling intro that sets the tone, followed by “Fall of the Firmament”—their debut single that catapulted them into the scene with critical acclaim in late 2023. Tracks like “Relentless Thelemic” and “Ready Cell Awaits” carry forward this momentum, plunging listeners into a world of intense riffs and lyrical intensity.

The EP’s closer, “Relentless Thelemic (Frightbox Live Recording),” is a powerful tribute to the closing of Frightbox Recording, the studio where SLAUGHTERSUN recorded this track live, marking the end of an era for the iconic Passaic, NJ, studio. This final track captures a raw, unfiltered energy that feels both nostalgic and fierce, showing SLAUGHTERSUN’s respect for the spaces and sounds that have influenced their journey.

The EP’s production bears the signature of Karas, who produced, engineered, and mixed it at Frost Gauntlet Recording, with additional engineering by Bobby Torres on the live track. With Ryan Kelly’s expert mastering, the tracks achieve a refined, polished intensity that’s visceral without losing any of its rawness. Artistically, Black Marrow is rounded out by cover art from Curse Of Face and a band logo designed by Michael Gonçalves, with a band photo by Jackie Betancourt that captures the group’s dark and enigmatic presence.

Lyrically, Black Marrow draws its depth from vocalist Justin Hillman, whose lyrics and vocal delivery are infused with both ferocity and emotional range, wrapping around the instrumental passages to create an immersive experience. Hillman’s voice adds a haunting layer, weaving through Karas’ treble strings, Cody Mccorry’s powerful bass lines, and Jason Quinones’ relentless percussive “hammer battalion.” Together, they create a sound that recalls the legacy of death metal legends like GORGUTS, DEATH, CANNIBAL CORPSE, and AT THE GATES, while carving out their own unique path.

The release of Black Marrow is not just a milestone for the band, but a declaration of SLAUGHTERSUN’s arrival on the metal stage. It follows a year of impactful singles and their electrifying live debut at Lucky 13 in Brooklyn, NY. The EP’s dense, intense compositions have struck a chord with fans and critics alike, garnering attention for their distinctive sound and thoughtful artistry.

With this EP, SLAUGHTERSUN cements its status as a rising force in metal, taking listeners on a dark, atmospheric journey that’s as captivating as it is unyielding. Black Marrow offers a glimpse into what SLAUGHTERSUN stands for—a ferocious yet refined embodiment of modern death metal, honoring its roots while blazing a new path.

About SLAUGHTERSUN:

Officially formed in 2023 by band leader Ben Karas (THANK YOU SCIENTIST, WINDFAERER) after years of experimentation; SLAUGHTERSUN is a novel approach to the genre of death metal taking influence from bands such as GORGUTS, DEATH, CANNIBAL CORPSE and AT THE GATES. Comprised of Karas’ THANK YOU SCIENTIST band mate Cody McCorry, along with Jason Quinones (TOMBSTONER) and Justin Hillman (CRANIAL DAMAGE) SLAUGHTERSUN made its first strike in December 2023 with the release of the critically acclaimed single “Fall of the Firmament”, marking the band as a musical force to be reckoned with. The year 2024 has seen three more heavy hitting singles from SLAUGHTERSUN and it's safe to say that listeners can expect more forward thinking, demented compositions in congruence with jaw-dropping live performances to come in 2025 and beyond.

SLAUGHTERSUN is:

SMOKE MOUNTAIN RELEASE "THE RIDER"

PRESS RELEASE:

Smoke Mountain, the celebrated doom trio hailing from Tallahassee, Florida, is thrilled to announce the release of their highly anticipated new album, The Rider, out March 28th 2025 via Argonauta Records. Alongside this announcement, the band has unveiled the album's first single and video, Hell or Paradise, offering fans a tantalizing glimpse into the next chapter of their musical journey.

Formed in 2015, Smoke Mountain quickly carved out a place in the doom metal scene with their self-titled debut EP in 2017, which garnered widespread acclaim and set the stage for their first full-length album. Released via Italy’s Argonauta Records in 2020, Queen of Sin earned critical praise for its haunting melodies, crushing riffs, and atmospheric depth.

With The Rider, Smoke Mountain builds upon this legacy while exploring new sonic territories. The album remains true to the band’s doom roots, showcasing their signature blend of occult themes, heavy grooves, and evocative lyrics. At the same time, it reveals a matured approach to melody, arrangement, and production.

The record features eight tracks: five brand-new compositions alongside remastered versions of the three songs from the band’s seminal EP, available on vinyl for the first time.

The album’s lead single, Hell or Paradise, captures the band’s evolution both lyrically and musically.

Speaking about the track, Smoke Mountain says:

“Hell or Paradise is a solid representation of where the band is headed, both lyrically and musically. The song explores the juxtaposition between good and evil and the fine line that often separates the two.”

The accompanying video, a visual odyssey of dark, otherworldly imagery, is a must-watch for fans of the genre: https://youtu.be/HFjuqQRjpBc

Describing the new album, the band shares:

“The Rider combines elements of the past, present, and future of Smoke Mountain. In addition to featuring the three songs from our debut EP, The Rider contains five powerful new tracks that provide a glimpse into the direction the band is heading. We’re very happy with the final product.”

The Rider is more than just an album; it’s a statement of Smoke Mountain’s place in the doom metal pantheon—a record that bridges their origins with the promise of what’s to come.
