CRAWLING CHAOS will release their highly anticipated new album, “Wyrd”, on March 28, 2025, via Time To Kill Records. This release marks an important milestone in the band’s career, further solidifying their position within the melodic death metal scene.

The band commented:

“'Nails of Fate' is an ode to the Norns of Norse mythology. The lyrics, freely adapted from the renowned Sigrdrífumál, are conceived as a kind of runic spread where the winter triad—Hagalaz, Nauthiz, and Isa—is cast. These three runes mark the beginning of Heimdall’s Ætt and are associated with Urd, Skuld, and Verdandi. In addition to twisting the threads of fate to shape the destiny of the individuals, these mythological figures also used to carve runes in order to keep a sort of cosmic chronicle of the entire universe. It is said that, as a symbol of the power they wielded over fate, the runes were even engraved on their nails".

“Wyrd”, the third studio album by CRAWLING CHAOS, is an anthology-based work centered around a series of archetypes connected to the concepts of destiny, fate, and becoming. In Northern European culture, these ideas are encapsulated in the term wyrd, contrasting with notions of free will and self-determination.

The central theme is developed across the album’s ten tracks, following a narrative thread that weaves together some of the most fascinating female figures from classical mythology, European folklore, and history. These include the Norse Norns, the witches from Macbeth serving Hecate, the Greco-Roman Furies, and the fearsome Thessalian necromancers. As in the band’s previous works, “Wyrd” is filled with literary references and Easter eggs, offering subtle nods to the most curious listeners.

Musically, CRAWLING CHAOS achieves further evolution with “Wyrd”, crafting a blend of groovy and melodic death metal that balances intricate technical flourishes with a strong focus on the classic concept of riff and song. The sound is polished yet retains raw power, showcasing the band's roots while pushing their sonic boundaries. This refined approach highlights their attention to songwriting, creating a powerful and authentic experience that bridges their older background with a modern and dynamic edge.

CRAWLING CHAOS is a death metal band formed in Rimini, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. In January 2009, the band released its first EP of original songs, “Goatsuckers”. Although the EP received numerous positive reviews from the underground metal press, it was mainly intended as a promotional appetizer.

In the following years, the band immersed itself in writing new material. In December 2012, they recorded their first full-length album, “Repellent Gastronomy”, at Domination Studio. Produced and mixed by Simone Mularoni, the album was released in November 2013 via Memorial Records.

In November 2020, CRAWLING CHAOS released their second full-length album, “XLIX”, a concept album inspired by Machiavelli’s notorious treatise The Prince. The album, once again produced by Simone Mularoni, was released via Time to Kill Records. Following the great reception of “XLIX”, praised by numerous international metal webzines and magazines, the band joined the roster of K2 Music Management.

Between 2013 and 2023, CRAWLING CHAOS performed dozens of gigs across Italy and Europe, sharing the stage with international acts such as Suffocation, The Monolith Deathcult, Havok, Skeletonwitch, Imperial Triumphant, Hideous Divinity, Nero di Marte, Dark Lunacy, and more.

In December 2023, the band returned to the studio to record their third full-length album, “Wyrd”, an anthology inspired by the role of feminine figures in European mythology and their connection to the concepts of fate and free will.

Landhaskur is an epic black metal opus with a folkloristic and medieval blend, narrating the forgotten myth of Winnili (the ancient population known as Longobards) and the atavic pagan cults and traditions they infused during their 200 years kingdom at the doors of the middle age within the Italic Land, during its apparently darkest historical period. The story is performed in English with a tribute to the ancient Latin and Langobardic languages, with a medieval Italian insert.

Rockshots Records is thrilled to announce the release of Finnish avant-garde Aitheer’s debut full-length album, “The Serpent,” coming February 21, 2025.

Building on the introspective vibes of their 2020 “Sleeper” EP, “The Serpent” represents a bold evolution for this Finnish progressive metal band. Formed in 2017, Aitheer has transitioned from a cover and jam project to a pioneering force in the music scene, now ready to take you on a dynamic 32-minute musical voyage.

This album explores new sonic territories, blending progressive metal with rock, jazz, classical, and ambient influences, creating a theatrical and cinematic experience. The meticulously crafted arrangements, recorded at Studio UG in Kerava, Finland, feature talented musicians, including session drummer Toni Paananen.

The title track “The Serpent” drops today! It’s an experimental piece combining groovy bass lines with psychedelic and cinematic elements, embodying the album’s spirit of pushing musical boundaries. This is the first Aitheer song with Finnish lyrics, adding an exotic twist to their hypnotic and dynamic nature.

SARKASM RELEASE "CARNIVAL OF ATROCITIES"

Back at the dawn of the 1990s Canadian death/thrash metal trailblazers Sarkasm were making a name for themselves in the metal underground. Four demos landed in quick succession, including ‘92s superb Inner Flame – but by ’94 the band were gone, seemingly destined to have burnt briefly but brightly, becoming a footnote in the annals of metal. However, after reforming for occasional shows, in 2019 Sarkasm were back and signed to the dedicated and supportive Xtreem Music label. In 2023 Sarkasm’s full length debut album, As Empires Decay, finally arrived and the critical response was excellent. But Sarkasm are far from finished, with years of lost time to make up for and they’re now ready to unveil a second album, an album that sees them striding forwards and becoming ever more potent and powerful…prepare for Carnival Of Atrocities!

Opening track ‘I Am Chaos’ is an immediate statement of intent from the band, with vocalist Bruno Bernier (also a member of Obliveon) letting loose a mighty, earthshaking roar that rides in the slipstream of Simon Thibodeau’s brain shaking drums and the glorious riffs of guitar team François Dubuc and Yves Parent. All these stunning elements remain at the fore for album highlight ‘Murmurs From The Void’ and it’s with this track that the superb bass work of Dave Bouchard really makes its mark too. Each element of the Sarkasm strike force works in perfect harmony, with each instrument and Bernier’s distinctive voice managing to hold their own place in the spotlight, without the finely structured songs ever tipping over into chaos. It’s hard to define just what makes the Sarkasm sound so special…maybe it’s the deft balance between technicality and accessibility, or perhaps the sheer bludgeoning force of tracks like ‘Ex Umbris’ and ‘Deadweight’? Possibly it’s the way that each note, each beat and word seems to be carefully considered and delivered with purpose – or just that Sarkasm follow different paths to other bands. Whatever the reason, with Carnival Of Atrocities, Sarkasm have delivered an album that stands tall amongst the surrounding pack, their blend of classic death and thrash sounds with modern muscle hits hard, leaving a bloody impression that lasts.

The tremendous sound on Carnival Of Atrocities has been captured by the combined skills of producer Maxime Lacroix (Gastrorrexis etc) and mastering magician Dan Swanö (Asphyx, Avulsed, Incantation etc). A tolling bell, a howling wind and chants of dire imprecation announce the return of Christ Dismembered, Australia’s chief advocates of apostasy and servants of the beast! The fabled followers of darkness have finally unleashed their second full length album of blood hungry black metal – Ov Vampiricy! As the opening invocation fades a jagged, circling riff spirals downwards before exploding into the furious blast beat inferno of ‘Fool’s Gambit’. Black metal as old as the grave, built upon a bleeding throat rasp, rampant drumming and guitars that dance like spiders across crumbling tombs, roars forth – from the taut, nerve stretching riffs of ‘Mother Of Demons’ to the devilish refrains of ‘The Numbers Oppose’. I have left the pain behind me. I am free and unburdened, spinning and turning, racing through the currents of memory with a lightness of being I could never have imagined when the shadows of loss encircled me, pouring like a flood of desolation into my desperate lungs. The tides of black still swell and subside beneath me, but I can see the deep fissures and fractures in its surface, rich with colours and shades of illumination that my tortured gaze could never see before; before I laid down my arms and stepped into the cold blades of insubstantial knives, until I ceased to fight and embraced the darkness, finding victory in my defeat.

Corroding Soul is the solo atmospheric black metal project of multi-instrumentalist David Lovejoy, yet that simple description does not prepare the listener for everything that Corroding Soul the album has to offer. Building on the success of EPs Hopeless and Nothing, Corroding Soul sees Lovejoy diving deeper and soaring higher as he explores the farthest shores of black metal’s kingdom, bringing a wonderful multitude of emotions, a breathtaking palette of hues and colours to its monochrome world, breaking through the ice with blinding rays of warm sunlight. Corroding Soul is made up of four movements, four intrinsically linked soundscapes that create a veritable symphony of sound and imagination; each multifaceted gem forming part of a greater whole. Opening track, ‘Shadow’ begins in beautifully tranquil fashion, before the listener is cast into a vast, evocative dream where blast beats and emotive lead guitars enfold the harsh, impassioned vocals. There is a sense of flying high above a past of trauma, looking back on life’s pain and sorrow from a new perspective as the music shifts moods and tempos as smoothly as silk. Lead single, ‘Tempest’, sends the soul soaring, its towering splendour juxtaposed with delicate intimacy. Together with ‘Bound’ it forms the heart of Corroding Soul, the two tracks enfolding you and carrying you away on cresting waves of profound intensity. And then there is ‘Sapphire’, an epic track of incredible, effervescent energy and ineffable beauty, shot through with a silver thread of bitter sweet melancholy, remembrance for a life left behind and loves lost, adorned in some cultured lead guitar work which brings to mind the flawless work of Dave Gilmour. It’s an ending in hope and healing after an exhilarating sonic adventure.

In the world of war-torn death metal, success simply doesn’t get more fundamental than harnessing the power of the riff. Following in the footsteps of death metal ironclads such as Bolt Thrower and Hail of Bullets Guelph, Ontario’s World Eaters is a riff-centric project born on the glorious battlefields of sci-fi and fantasy franchises.

Now five piece band, World Eaters welcomes Winter Stomp (drums), Adam Ujhelyi (lead vocals), Jacob Duke (guitars), and Michael Siegrist (bass, synths) to the war front, joining founding member David Gupta (guitars). The band has been performing live around Ontario and Quebec for the past two years, putting on high energy shows and has been called “the best kept secret in Ontario heavy music” by Exclaim! Magazine.

While this is their first release as a full five-piece, World Eaters has always been about community and collaboration. Hounds of Blood showcases the gravitas of Sarafina Bortolon-Vettor’s voice (Bonnie Trash, Hand Drawn Dracula) and Piers Oolvai’s otherworldly effected bass clarinet.

Started in March 2020, World Eaters has proven quite prolific, having already released multiple splits and EPs to international underground acclaim. Hounds of Blood, this forthcoming 5 track EP will be

released digitally on January 1st, 2025 followed up by a vinyl pressing later in the year. Following in the power-armored footsteps of World Eaters’ previous material, Hounds of Blood features artwork by Adam Ujhelyi, both grisly and beautiful in equal measure.

Rheinkaos, formed in 2007 by guitarist Dimitrios B. and vocalist Savaoth, set out to craft a distinctive blend of model black metal, drawing influence from avant-garde pioneers like Dødheimsgard, Ulver and progressive legends Fates Warning. In 2008, the band self-released their debut demo, featuring Gogo Melone from Luna Obscura on vocals, which gathered critical acclaim earning “Demo of the Month” from Metal Hammer (GR) in April of that year.

Their momentum continued in 2010 when they collaborated with producer V. Yalamas at Fragile Studios to record their first full-length album. However, due to budget constraints the album remained unfinished and  Rheinkaos entered a decade-long hiatus after Dimitrios' relocation to the Netherlands.

In 2015 and with Rheinkaos' disbanded, Dimitrios B. put together a new band, Forests Alive, that aimed to take the Rheinkaos sound into more approachable direction. However in 2024, Rheinkaos decided to re-work and complete two of their latest two tracks from the Fragile sessions,  “Beta Religion” and “The Commencement Fear” for an almost-20min EP release under the name “All my Being is Dark Verse”.

Atmospheric black/doom collective Splendidula announces the reissue of their acclaimed album Somnus on CD via Argonauta Records, following the initial sell-out of the format. Behind My Semblance was recorded by JDB at Kosmik Womb, mixed by Tim De Gieter at Much Luv Studio (known for his work with Amenra, Brutus, and Doodseskader), and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music (whose credits include Sepultura, Mastodon, and Cannibal Corpse).

The track, also released as an exclusive 8” vinyl under Saturni Records, is not part of the band’s forthcoming full-length album, making it a unique addition to this reissue.
