ASASARA RELEASE "777"

Stoner/Thrash Metal project, ASASARA, will release sophomore EP, 777, on cassette and 12" vinyl LP formats on February 18 and March 8, respectively!

The EP was released on digital format last Halloween and is streaming in its entirety at asasara.bandcamp.com/album/777. The EP is also available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and YouTube.

The 777 EP can be viewed as a sample of what's to come. Kicking off with three original tracks, familiar sounds of old school thrash collide with a smokey haze of stoner stylings. The project closes on a strange note with a reworked traditional Greek song - "The Gambler (Ο ΚΟΥΜΑΡΤΖΗΣ​)" - that dates back to over a century ago, given new life here by the heavy riffing within. The new EP follows the release of 2022 debut, Sinking.

From the depths of a place where esoteric Greek myth and occult teachings collide, Massachusetts' own ASASARA melds stoner and thrash metal styles into a refreshingly old school sound!

The singer-guitarist Valtteri Saharinen tells about the track:

"MY TRUE NEMESIS is a song about battling your own inner enemy. The narrator’s opponent isn’t some external force, but rather this internal power that takes control of their mind and life. Feelings of anger, resentment, shame, and despair are constantly churning inside throughout life, and you’re forced to deal with them if you want to move forward. The chorus, “true nemesis,” is a metaphor for this internal force, an enemy you have to face over and over again, one you can never escape.

The song has this heavy, fatalistic vibe, where the enemy is seen as inevitable, just a natural part of life. The narrator’s lyrics dig deep into the conflict between self-hatred and the struggle to accept oneself. In the final chorus, the voices in their head scream, “No way out!” – summing up the feeling that this inner enemy is tied to their fate. It’s something they can’t outrun, only learn to live with.

Musically, the track is raw and intense, perfectly mirroring the darkness in the lyrics. It drags the listener deep into the pain of the mind but also opens a door to self-reflection and acceptance. My True Nemesis is a powerful take on the inner battle and how it’s an inseparable part of being human."

The Japanese band ALPHOENIX was formed in 2015 and plays a melodic type of death metal. In their music, they combine aggression with sensational melodic guitar parts, clean vocals and growls. Single was engineered by Thomas Johansson at The Panic Room (Blindead 23, Ereb Altor, Evergrey, Katatonia, Mayhem, Watain). The cover artwork was created by Shimpei - the vocalist and guitarist of the band.

Sardinian Black Metal veterans VULTUR are finally ready to release their third album: "Cultores de Perdas e Linna" was recorded in 2023 but did not see light until today, in 2025. The album, whose title means " lovers of stone and wood" (a way in which the Christians derogatorily defined the Nuragic population), is composed of eight songs sung in the Campidanese Sardinian language, except for "Nemini Parco", sung in Italian and Latin.

VULTUR's style is aggressive, rhythmically frenetic and merciless, full of intriguing riffs and a certain level of violence and darkness. Fans of the old Satyricon, Marduk, Mayhem and Immortal will be pleased, as will lovers of the melodic bridges of Dissection, the evocativeness of Rotting Christ and the dark heaviness of Mortuary Drape.

The artwork takes inspiration from the Sardinian popular mask called "Su Boe", one of the most important entities of the carnival of Sardinian traditions.

Founded exactly 20 years ago, VULTUR were the first Black Metal band to use lyrics in the Sardinian Campidanese language, with themes linked to Sardinian occultism and popular folklore.

The album will premiere via the popular YouTube channel Black Metal Promotion on February 26, 2025.

ACROSS THE SHADE was founded in 2011 by guitarist/vocalist Kamil Sikorski. It turned into a regular band in mid-2014 when Marcin (drums), Łukasz (guitars) and Bartek (bass) joined. So far, Silesian band released EP "Winter is Coming (2017) and album "Hope" (2019). Currently the band performs as a duo.

After almost 6 years band is releasing long awaited second studio album.

Music for new album titled "Madness" was recorded, mixed and mastered by Kamil Sikorski - leader of the band. Whole graphic design (cover artwork & layout) was done by Nikos Stavridakis known as VisionBlack who has in portfolio cooperation with bands as Ad Hominem, Before the Dawn, Dødsferd, Mors Subita and Wolfheart. Album is releasing digitally on January 24, 2025 (pre-save).

The sounds and lyrical themes oscillate around darkness, sadness, loss, and the inseparable relationship between a man and nature. 

 Musicians comments their upcoming album: “We wanted to make this album a little bit faster and agressive. And also we can think of it as the 'Hope' LP sequel. The name of the album - Madness - is its main theme. When someone encounters many adversities, eventually loses his hope. It can lead to them losing their sanity. The main goal is to overcome the madness. Maybe you can run away from it. Or maybe it will haunt you forever."

As with many Finnish death metal pioneers, the band incorporates a distinctive sense of weirdness, blending diverse influences in crafting a sound that’s unmistakably their own.

“The backbone is death metal,” states vocalist Kari Kankaanpää, “but we’ve never shied away from exploring new inspirations and influences, which shape the unique edge synonymous with SEPULCHRAL CURSE. Music needs to be dark, heavy and furious!”

Crimson Moon Evocations marks the band’s debut with Dark Descent Records, a partnership that feels both natural and profoundly significant: “Dark Descent Records has always held a special place in my heart. To join their renowned roster with this record is a true honour.”

This new collaboration reflects the SEPULCHRAL CURSE's unwavering momentum, arriving merely two years after their bold leap forward with Abhorrent Dimensions.

“With Abhorrent Dimensions we truly began to find our own sound and style, and Crimson Moon Evocations takes an even deeper dive into who we are and crystallises the essence of the Sepulchral Curse sound.”

To capture their vision, the band returned to Finland’s Oxroad Studios to work with producer Tomi Uusitupa, whose influence has been pivotal. “Tomi is like our sixth member. He chooses the projects he works with carefully, as he pours a tremendous amount of love and personal input to each record he does.”

Complete with stunning artwork by Mark Erskine, the album is not just a milestone but a statement: SEPULCHRAL CURSE has ascended to the pinnacle of blackened death metal!

A droning tone fades in, opening up a slow dirge that eases us into the apocalyptic explosion of death that will follow for the next 40 minutes. Where guitars anxiously scale the fretboard & weave morose melodies while drums pound and smash with the force of the Chicxulub impactor. Interspersed between the infernal, seismic, blackened stampedes are droning psychedelia & ambient noise interludes, immersing us further into the ever-growing darkness. But there are also moments of overwhelming beauty, like on tracks "Nebulae" and the eponymous "Ashen Womb," where PHRENELITH indulge in the repetition of their sinister melodies, layering Serpentinian guitars atop each other, spinning a web of desolate harmonies around the listener.

With Ashen Womb, PHRENELITH gives us the foretold sound of the apocalypse, but whether it’s a warning or a celebration is yet undecided.
