The provocative, imperious and engaging Swedish-based metal group SOEN unveil the captivating yet unnerving video for ‘Monarch’ today, taken from their fifth album, IMPERIAL, set for release via Silver Lining Music on January 29th 2021.
Founder members Joel Ekelöf (vocals) and Martin Lopez (drums), along with Lars Enok Åhlund (keyboards and guitar), Oleksii “Zlatoyar” Kobel (bass) and Cody Ford (lead guitar) are an undeniable cypher for all the issues and emotions which swirl around us. With its epic, dynamic tale alluding to men raised in aggression and sent to war, ‘Monarch’ commences with a stomping crushing riff that is perfectly juxtaposed with moments of pure majestic melodic bliss.
‘Monarch’ is an epic, dynamic song about the traditional attributes of mankind. The belief that showing compassion and kindness is a sign of weakness.” explains Lopez. “The lack of direction and guidance in society is turning younger generations into violent and destructive creatures,” furthers Ekelöf “because they are living in an age where bullies are kings and the rest are prey”
On the making of the video, Lopez comments: “Making videos is a difficult task because it means that you need to hand over the control of your music to someone on the outside. You want to make a video that not only represents the lyrical content but that also captures the atmosphere and emotion of the song and for that you need to find a producer that has the capability of understanding and transforming all these words and notes into images and I think we found the right person in Daniele Zed Berretta… It was a pleasure to work with him and we’re very happy with how the video turned out.”

Portuguese metal masters MOONSPELL have released a video for the track "Common Prayers". The tune will be part of the band´s new album "Hermitage "that will be released on February 26th, 2021.
Norwegian progressive metal outfit GREEN CARNATION have teamed up with PROG magazine for the premiere of their brand new single titled “The World Without a View”. Composed, arranged and recorded during the Covid-19 lockdown, the band has dedicated their new single to their fans. Listen to the track HERE.
Vocalist Kjetil Nordhus comments: “This is a big day for Green Carnation, being able to share a new song that wasn’t planned at all before Covid-19. We managed to compose this in the strictest lockdown period in Norway in 2020, and then record it in the studio this autumn. The music video is made by Costin Chioreanu, and is a wonderful art video, showing how he made our cover art. We would like to thank Costin for his amazing work. The song and the video are both big bonuses this year for us, and hopefully also for our fans.”
2020 was going to be a big year for the band, releasing and supporting their first album for 14 years via Season of Mist in May and celebrating their 20th anniversary as recording artists. Approaching the end of a devastating year for the live music industry the band is happy for the opportunity to release new material much earlier than planned.
“The World Without a View” is a near 10 minute epic and is a digital release only. The recording has been financed by the band and is available for purchase via the band’s Bandcamp page. “The World Without a View” is recorded and mixed by Endre Kirkesola in DUB Studio, mastered by Maor Appelbaum Mastering. Cover design by Costin Chioreanu.
UNDEATH guitarists, Kyle Beam and Jared Welch take you through the guitar parts to the track, CHAINED TO A REEKING ROTTED BODY, from their debut album, LESIONS OF A DIFFERENT KIND.
Skull crushing death metal reigns supreme; if the blood-spattered glory of Carcass is your (body) bag, if the headbang-inducing brutality of Cannibal Corpse is too much for you to resist, then UNDEATH have served up a feast for you. Lesions Of A Different Kind is the sound of three lifetimes of subterranean sickness and death metal worship coalescing in a severe brain-bludgeoning unlike anything you've heard before.
Italian blackened death metal Cold Raven have published a video where they present their new cinematic videoclip for the song "Path Of Hekate". This song is taken from the band's latest release “In Tenebris Silvam”.

Recent The Artisan Era signees Stortregn are proud to announce the upcoming release of their fifth full-length, Impermanence. Set for release on March 12th via The Artisan Era. Famed Italian painter Paolo Girardi (Power Trip, Artificial Brain, Chthe'ilist) lends his masterful touch to the fantastic artwork adorning Impermanence. Recorded, mixing and mastering were handled at Conatus Studio, Switzerland by Vladimir Cochet (Mirrorthrone, Weeping Birth).
Active since 2006, the Geneva-Switzerland-based act has released four albums and an EP to date which has garnered them worldwide praise from music writers and extreme metal fans alike. Their most recent prior album, 2018's Emptiness Fills the Void, boosted the band's status and fanbase to new levels, leaving it up to them to work their asses off in order to drop something in the future that could top it. Now the time has come for the group to take their next leap forward, a sentiment Impermanence embodies and embraces with unorthodox yet graceful conviction from start to finish.
Impermanence is not just another release meant to keep the gears churning, this is the result of a project that advances and expands what they're capable of every time they drop something new. Impermanence draws inspiration from a mix of a large array of influences including progressive tech-death to 90’s Swedish black metal, old-school heavy metal, and jazz in order to craft a unique style of melodic black metal intertwined with a variety of death metal influences. Stortregn - Impermanence is highly recommended for fans of bands such as Obscura, Opeth, Inferi, Dissection.
Stortregn comments on the release of Impermanence
"With a downpour of eight cosmic tracks, crafted with stellar riffs, thundering blast beats, and violence, we are ready to unleash our 5th studio album “Impermanence” onto the world! We’ve put our souls into this craft, exploring a wide range of musical influences and themes, all interconnected to create a paradigm of epicness. With this album, we managed to merge the contemporary tech-death sound and ideas with our older influences. “Impermanence” isn’t just a new studio album: it’s a face-melting sonic eruption! The storm is coming, you have been warned…"
*Stay tuned for an early album teaser video, pre-orders, and early singles in the coming weeks and months!
