Portland Oregon's LIGATURE MARKS (featuring members of 36 Crazyfists and Vintersea) will release a deluxe edition of their debut album "Set Oceans on Fire" on June 11th, 2021. The album will contain two new tracks and be available exclusively on Bandcamp.

Vocalist Benjamin Charles commented, "We are really excited about this release of “Set Oceans on Fire”. It’s been a long road to get to this point and the last year certainly provided no shortage of obstacles. One thing that seems evident is that chaos can often times be a catalyst for inspiration and that seemed to be the case for us. We stuck to our goal of writing a ton of new music and managed to shoot a music video for every single song we’ve released. Being isolated with the world at a standstill over the last year the band has really had a chance to developed our own sound and we figured out how to create really good art together, but we absolutely can’t wait to get back out there."

Ligature Marks is an American metal band from Portland, Oregon formed in 2017.  Ligature Marks’ lineup is made up of some of the Pacific Northwest’s most hailed underground and established musicians, including members of 36 Crazyfists and Vintersea. Their unsigned debut album, Set Oceans On Fire, earned them incredible popularity in the Pacific Northwest; with them being specifically chosen to perform with bands such as: Gojira, Soulfly, Unearth and Skinlab.

At first glance the band's musical style could likely fall under the blanket statement of Metalcore. Dig a little deeper and you’ll uncover depths of influences ranging from progressive metal to hardcore, and from punk to straight forward heavy metal. The pallet of guitar styles the Whinnery brothers have in their arsenal lay down brutal and melodic textures, equally haunting and beautiful as it is ruthless and destructive. Backed by the unforgivingly savage rhythm section of Dave Keller and Kyle Baltus, the perfect amount of pocket and chaos, groove is everything. The vocals of frontman Benjamin Charles are raw and intelligent. Memorable lyrics delivered aggressively and without apology, equally tormented as they are hopeful. 

The albums, performances, and their unique approach to their videos, including interesting release parties in haunted vintage theaters and a state of the art planetarium, have continued to push the band forward in 2021 with an extended re-release of their album Set Oceans on Fire, and an upcoming EP due out later this year.

RiseuP are a death-groove metal band from Pszow, Poland whose music pounds straight to the core, leaving you sonic disequilibrium! The three singles from Destructive Machine’s Chilling Time 3:27 are absolutely badass and paradoxically pleasing. "Jim B" offers the hook, “Drink, drink, drink!” emblazoned with overlays of speaking and growl voices that float between the headphones hypnotically. The theme: however, tells us that alcohol makes false heroes who overrate their own abilities. "Rise" features mechanistic super-drumming under an intricate triple-vocal that is masterfully delivered in different ranges of growl and traditional singing. The funk-factor keeps our toes tapping and our heads juking, yet the lyrics suggest that the darkest moments make us stronger only by teaching us to learn to bear scars. Finally, "Prophecy", with its addictive crunch and pleasing guitar tremolo, alludes to scripture and our misinterpretation of both testaments, leading us to hypocrisy and fear as opposed to peace and enlightenment.

Copping a fresh spray of salty froth from the choppy Caribbean sea, Dick Dribbley and Jack Cock wiped the hefty drips from their brows and waved their hands in pride. Blowing in the breeze, and also flapping in the wind, they had earned the right to drop zip and spill seed.

IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT RE-RELEASE "INCESTE" EP

In April of 2016, we were fortunate enough to partner with then up-in-coming NY Black Metal sensations, Imperial Triumphant, on their Inceste Ep. The Ep received critical acclaim and took the band to new heights at the time as they experimented even more with the dark and depraved. In regards to Ep, the band stated, "Inceste is an interpretation of the works of French aristocrat Marquis de Sade. We wanted to make a record that was sordid, invasive, and child like at times. Extreme highs and lows are everywhere on this EP. The music always reflects the lyrics. Nothing on Inceste is stable. Everything instrument bends and twists and wrenches, forcing its way inside of you."

With the pandemic hitting the industry hard, the band wanted to stay busy and dove into some creative projects, one of which being the re-issue of Inceste. Every detail was labored over to ensure the band’s ultimate vision for the release was achieved. The Vinyl release was pressed in an edition of 666 in two different variants - Emissions on Black Marble / Blood & Semen - both of which turned out absolutely stunning. The jacket comes in the form of a lavish gatefold that includes a 12”x24” foldout insert. We all felt it important to make sure the packaging reflected the band’s aesthetic and as such, the gatefold jacket represents the luxury / high class image that Manhattan loves to put on display, while the insert buried within represents the seedy and vile underbelly of the city that keeps itself hidden from most.

We wanted to make sure the CD would not play second fiddle to the vinyl, so we had to make it particularly special. The CD itself is Gold, and comes in a Hardback Digibook with never before seen photography of NYC. Both vinyl and cd formats include bonus tracks, including a bass cover of Miles Davis’ Nefertiti, alongside other haunting musical apparitions.

SACRIFIX RELEASE "LIVING HELL" LYRIC VIDEO

One of the newest representatives of Brazilian Old School Thrash Metal, from Sao Paulo, SACRIFIX, have released their chaotic and visceral second single, "Living Hell", in lyric video format. Present on their recent debut album "World Decay 19", released through Thrash Or Death Records and Rapture Records, the chosen track could not have been better chosen to account for everything that human beings have been going through over the last decades, a true hell in all senses.

The environment, "breathing" through devices due to rampant pollution, wars, viruses, bacteria and devastating diseases killing billions of people, rulers who only care about their own enrichment and the frustration of the suffering people who see an ever more perverse, gloomy, alarming and hopeless future.

SACRIFIX do not intend to be just "one more" band among thousands of others in the Thrash Metal segment in our country, but rather to show how to do it in the most intense, vigorous and violent way possible while staying true and respecting their origins, no frills or stardom. “Coffinized” is THE ABSENCE's follow-up to their 2018 comeback record, “A Gift For The Obsessed.” That album was the band's first in eight years, as well as their first for new label home M-Theory Audio. The time period between that album's release and the COVID outbreak saw the band stay busy by taking their new songs to the road, touring alongside acts such as Deicide, Origin, Jungle Rot, Exmortus and Hatchet. The group’s members also stayed busy with outside endeavors, with drummer Jeramie Kling manning the kit for Venom Inc., bassist Mike Leon gigging with Soulfly and Cavalera Conspiracy and guitarist Taylor Nordberg playing with Massacre, in addition to multiple quarantine collaborations and side-projects. Those three band members took the experiences from their touring gigs and reconvened in the studio with Stewart – who has also been busy with his other project, Hot Graves -- to put together the 11 tracks of pummeling death metal that compose “Coffinized.”

“Coffinized” was produced and engineered by Kling and Nordberg and mixed by Kling. The album was mastered by Jonas Kjellgren (Immortal, Overkill, Scar Symmetry) at Sweden’s Black Lounge Studios. Its track listing is as follows:

THE ABSENCE first burst onto the scene in 2005 with their crushing, Erik Rutan-produced Metal Blade debut “From Your Grave.” That album and its two follow-ups, 2007’s “Riders of the Plague” and 2010’s “Enemy Unbound,” showcased a perfect mixture of heart-wrenching melodies and skull-pounding aggression, truly making them one of the premiere bands of the melodic death metal scene. THE ABSENCE further cemented their reputation via numerous tours supporting some of the biggest names in metal, including Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder, Amon Amarth, Sabaton, Goatwhore, Evergrey, Malevolent Creation, Kataklysm and Destruction. Aggression Continuum features guitarist, songwriter, and co-founder Dino Cazares; drummer Mike Heller; and former vocalist, lyricist, and co-founder Burton C. Bell.
