Extinction In Progress releases their debut album "Shades of Pale". The basis of the album is cast firmly from modern, aggressive death metal, in which emotions from a wide spectrum are skillfully woven into: from fragile, beautiful melancholy to crushing despair.

RIBSPREADER RELEASE "CRYPT WORLD"

Veteran Swedish/US Death Metal band RIBSPREADER has just revealed the cover art, as well as the 1st advance single and tracklist for what will be their 1st full album entitled "Crypt World" which will see the light next May 31st through Xtreem Music on CD, 12"LP, Cassette & Digital formats.

Led by Swedish genius Rogga Johansson (PAGANIZER, PUTREVORE, THE GROTESQUERY, REVOLTING...) on guitar/ bass/ vocals and accompanied by guitarist Taylor Nordberg (DEICIDE, INHUMAN CONDITION, ex-MASSACRE...) and drummer Jeramie Kling (VENOM INC., INHUMAN CONDITION, ex-MASSACRE...), RIBSPREADER have recorded a great album in which they have given a little twist to their style incorporating a more MASSACRE-like touch to their usual Swedish sound. The art, this time, has been made by the Venezuelan artist John Quevedo Janssens.

The ten chapters of fury that make up Opvs Contra Natvram were written and recorded over the course of a very strange year for the globe — a situation which only heightened the level of craft seen in these 43 minutes and 15 seconds of searing wrath. As with previous studio outings, Opvs… was produced by BEHEMOTH, with mixing handled by acclaimed studio legend Joe Barresi (Nine Inch Nails, Tool, QOTSA, Alice in Chains).

Renowned for his meticulous attention to detail and absolute creative control of BEHEMOTH's world, frontman and band visionary, Adam "Nergal" Darski reveled in the depressurized environment afforded by the pandemic. It meant that for nearly the first time since the band's inception over 30 years ago, there was no deadline to observe, allowing for a nearly unprecedented level of attention to the process of writing and recording. 

Beyond any confines of genre, BEHEMOTH have grown to become nothing less than the personification of rebellion, individuality, and unflinching self-expression informed by a literate worldview and worldliness that's resulted in a locking of horns with everything from the mainstream press to the Polish Catholic church — most notably manifesting in Nergal's trial for blasphemy in 2010 that only served to expose the deep-seated hypocrisies that his music seeks to challenge.

"The album title means going against the current," Nergal states. "It's the negative of the values and morals and ethics that I stand against. I've seriously been wrestling with destructive tendencies in pop culture — cancel culture, social media, and tools which I feel are very dangerous weapons in the hands of people who are not competent to judge others. That's something which I find very destructive and disturbing — and extremely limiting coming from an artists' perspective. This is my middle finger to that. There's a song on the record called 'Neo-Spartacvs.' Spartacus was one of the most iconic rebels in history who went against the most powerful empire of all time. In the end, it's me screaming, 'I Am Spartacus, and so are you!' I want to spark that flame of rebellion. If something seems wrong then stand up to it!"

DRAGONBREED RELEASE LYRIC VIDEO "SINISTER OMEN"

On 22 April, Dragonbreed released their debut album "Necrohedron", a band whose classic 90s-inspired melodic death metal is not only a mix-up of Suidakra and Graveworm. While the previously released video clip for "The Undying" shows the band during their studio recordings, the band now follows up with another video, "Sinister Omen", which pays tribute to the "silent" sixth band member, so to speak, and puts the lyrics as well as the artwork of the album in the foreground. Both come from the creative mind of cover artist Kris Verwimp, who was able to realize a concept story with this album, which had been slumbering in his drawer for a long time and fitted Dragonbreed like a glove. ANCESTHOR is basically one of Mexico's best-kept secret! Yes, we all know about the tourist destination, the cartels of all sorts and the friendly people... but what about their Metal scene? Their gigantic metal scene is an ocean of infinity and diversity... but as everywhere else, some amazing bands with amazing albums are still riding under the radar of the bigger players of the music business. ANCESTHOR's one of them. And what an amazing band it is too! The band plays a forceful technical thrash, very intense and varied as if some celestial being had fun mixing the DNA of bands such as DEMOLITION HAMMER, VIO-LENCE, VEKTOR and the almighty EXHUMER in one gigantic tech thrash experiment... The end result is a band churning out killer riffs after killer riffs with an obvious facility in writing memorable songs while still making them intricate enough to challenge the legions of tech heads worshiping CORONER and other thrash gods of the technical metal realm. This album was first released in 2013 with a slight variation of the front cover and different song titles. The band went on re-recording the whole album in 2018 and the production is killer from A to Z. So why nobody did see this diamond in the rough earlier? No clue is available at the moment but rest assured, ANCESTHOR is one of these bands that grows on you musically and won't let you go... lucky bastards. This album is coming out on CD through RIPRIDE and is including the killer Repka front cover.

The album will come with 6 pages full-color booklet, full-color CD, and shrink-wrapped.

Stoner rock band DUST PROPHET will release their new single "When the Axe Falls" on June 10th, 2022. The single is from their upcoming album One Last Look Upon the Sky which will be out later this year.

Frontman Otto Kinzel comments:

"Musically When the Axe Falls is another song our bassist Sarah Wappler came up with. She is our primary songwriter and “Harvester of Riffs” as we like to say. She wrote the primary riffs you hear in the verse and chorus. From there as a band, we jammed on it and fleshed out the arrangements and structure.

Lyrically, the song is about the infamous Axeman of New Orleans, an unidentified serial killer from the early 1900’s. He was active from 1919-19 and killed 6 people. One of his peculiarities was that he sent a letter to the local press and demanded that all the residents in NOLA needed to play jazz music loudly at night from their homes. If they did that, he wouldn’t commit any murders. Hence the line in the chorus “To Save Your Life I need to Hear the Sound I Crave”. True to his word, there were no murders that night.

I’m a huge fan of true crime. It influences a lot of my lyrics, and I’m particularly interested in unsolved “cold” cases.
