When Rezet´s most recent album Truth in Between effectively turned out to be a commercial nonstarter due to a certain virus, northern Germany´s finest in thrash quickly had to separate the wheat from the chaff… albeit not so much voluntarily as out of necessity. After amicably separating from guitarist Heiko Musolf and bass player Bjarne Otto, main composer, guitarist and singer Ricky Wagner shortly wondered whether he should put the band to rest but then decided differently. Contrarily, he set out to leave nothing to coincidence anymore, opting for a “no compromise” and do-it-yourself approach by continuing Rezet without label-support for the time being. This resolve triggered a burst of creativity, resulting in New World Murder, a four-track EP both revisiting the group´s roots as well as hinting towards a brighter future. Wagner and drummer Bastian “attt” Santen recruited four-stringer Lorenz Kandolf and second guitarist Jan-Erik Fischer to self-record three new songs as well as a flamboyant cover of Deep Purple´s proto metal classic ´Fireball´.

The material was then mixed and mastered by the band´s trusted sound engineer Eike Freese (amongst others Heaven Shall Burn, Helloween and, indeed, Deep Purple), with ´The Devil´s Bride´ being a perfect opener, blending acute Motörhead vibes with Ricky´s charismatic snarl and an almost Annihilator-esque playfulness, highlight the razor-sharp precision of Rezet´s new line-up. The rhythmically diverse, subtly melodic ´Dead End Walking´ is barbed with one of the catchiest riffs you may hear in 2022 and topped of by an atmospheric instrumental bridge whereas staccato earworm ´Alien Noises´ – featuring guest vocals by none other than German thrash pioneers Destruction´s front man Schmier – hits home even faster and will grace the soundtrack of the movie “Total Thrash”.

So there you have it: four smashers that sounds unpredictable and familiar alike, reflecting Ricky´s hands-on attitude. “In a way,” he concludes, “I see New World Murder in the spirit of Metallica, who also keep setting new goals for themselves, shedding their skin on a constant basis. Eventually, we reclaimed our joy in what we do simply by doing what we love without fulfilling expectations.” Old is the new New – so watch out and perk your ears for “The Great Rezet”!

Electric Valley Records presents Lucid Grave’s debut album, Cosmic Mountain, due out digitally and on vinyl (four editions) on 15 July 2022. 

Lucid Grave is a dark heavy psychedelic band with stoner-doomy tendencies from Copenhagen, Denmark. Sonically, Lucid Grave is a boiling pot of heavy fuzz rock like Black Sabbath/Coven/Hawkwind and ‘80s punk like Black Flag/The Nuns/The Gun Club, all wrapped up in a nice blanket of modern heavy stoner rock and doom. Honoring the howling occult cinema of the ‘80s, Lucid Grave finds inspiration in everything that’s heavy, filthy, and free! 

They emerged from the underground communal house and punk venue Ungdomshuset in the dying days of 2017. A few months later, in 2018, they released a self-titled demo and spent the next few years playing shows around Denmark with bands such as High Priestess, Cities of Mars, The Gates of Slumber, and Heathe, while making more materials as well. In 2020 Copenhagen label Virkelighedsfjern released Lucid Grave’s EP called Goddess of Misery, a venture that was seriously disrupted by the coronavirus outbreak — which meant no shows for a while. That time was instead spent on writing materials for their first full-length album. In 2021 they released a single called “Surfer Bat,” an upbeat ‘70s heavy Rock song with a twist of gothic punk vibes and a dash of Latin music. It caught the attention of the Italian heavy psych label Electric Valley Records.

Cosmic Mountain, the debut LP of Lucid Grave, is a journey through your favorite drugs of life, the highs, and the lows, being chased through the desert and fighting a haze of demons. The album was recorded live and over-dubbed in just three days at the beginning of 2022. As it was with the previous single, “Surfer Bat,” Patrick Fragtrup was again behind the mixing board for the session, and it is clear that there has developed an understanding between him and the band as this record sounds both huge and fierce without losing any clarity or energy from the group. The project was finished by Shane Trimble of High Reeper at his California studio.

On Cosmic Mountain, the eclectic inspirations of Lucid Grave come together in a new way. This is the first time they have released a long project, and the six songs on the album make for a coherent listen despite changes in style and tempo. From dusty desert blues to slow, heavy doom over straight-up space rock, this album takes many detours but lands safely because of the consistent production and the overarching lyrical themes. The lyrics on the album deal with the spiritual struggles of finding yourself and your place in this world. Sometimes these struggles are seen from the outside, sometimes they are described as demons, but most often, they are seen through the lens of drug use. Here you return to the picture of the Cosmic Mountain as the explorational grounds of the intronaut on her journey of self-discovery.

It's been more than three decades as one of the leading names in thrash and death metal Portuguese scene, counting on six albums. The new work will be the successor to «Born Suffer Die», 2020 Ep. The strength of the three themes contained in the Ep left a lot of curiosity about the new album, entitled «Storms Over The Dying World». This seventh album by the quartet will be released by Lusitanian Music, with a release date for CD, LP, Cassette and digital platforms, scheduled for July 29th. The LP release, given the production constraints of the moment, might happen a little later. Recorded at Rock'n'Raw by Bruno Miguel Jorge, the album is produced by Tó Pica and Sacred Sin. The album’s title, according to José Costa, bassist and vocalist, “synthesizes the lyrical and musical part of the album as a whole”. After the rebirth with «Born Suffer Die», and the stabilization of the formation, with Tó Pica and Luís Coelho on the strings, the album was delayed due to the installed pandemic. It is the musician himself who claims to have started “recording during the pandemic, although some themes come further back in time”. That's why “this record is a collection of songs that now come to life outside of our demos, and we have the opportunity to share them with everyone”. The quartet was already complete in the preparation phase of the work, with Fernando Dantas as the group's official drummer, having already recorded all the drums for the album.

BETRAYED RELEASE VIDEO FOR "TIME IS THE BEST MURDERER"

After the release of the concept album “Kasna”, italian thrash/death metal act Betrayed is glad to announce a new video for the track “Time Is The Best Murderer”, out on June 18th. About the video the band says: “The video of the song 'Time Is the Best Murderer' wants to represent the common desire of many people: to be able to control the passing of time at will in order to satisfy their needs, goals and necessities. The young protagonist of the story will make the discovery of a powerful object capable of changing the passing of time...”.

Betrayed was born in 2007 and they come from Imola (BO). They released their first Ep "Mass Hypnosis" in 2013. This first work was characterized by heavy metal sounds and riffs. Over the following years many live shows and several line up changes followed. In 2018 the band starts writing the new album and only in 2020, within the new line up consolidation, the creative process is completed. During the writing process of the new album the the band finds its own identity and the musical influences of each single band member contribute to give life to an album that cannot be categorized: a hybrid and mix of death metal and thrash metal sounds. The band decides to go against the current standards of the music market, releasing a concept album whose lyrics are chronologically linked to each other. Moved by the desire to tell through a story the situation about the currently planet situation and, to pay homage to Alda Merini poetress, on 18th November they released the video of the first song: Purity, and on December 2021 they released the album "KASNA". The title of this album, in Native American language, means "defeat/loss". The protagonist of the narration is a forest which, for the first time, comes into contact with a human being. Although at first the coexistence between the two parts seems to proceed in harmony and peace, it will soon turn into a conflict for survival.
