On the heels of several singles, Yucatan based melodic death metal outfit DEATH SCYTHE are thrilled to announce their upcoming album Killing For Pleasure Forever, due out August 26th. Stream the latest single, "Killer Faith" below. 

The band comments on the track: "The sudden disappearance of the Mayan civilization is one of the most studied enigmas in history. Many believe it was their own blind faith in their Gods brought them to their inevitable end. "Killer Faith" is about how blind faith without question can lead us straight to our own "Xibalbá (hell).

More about Death Scythe:

DEATH SCYTHE is a Melodic Death Metal Band from Mérida, Yucatán, México. Formed in 2003 by Roberto Cervera and Gerardo Mendoza with the only goal of play pure melodic death metal. In 2006 they release their first self produced demo called Hollow Darkness.

After years in the underground scene of Yucatan the band release in October of 2008 their debut album Killing for Pleasure with 15 songs. 

The album included "Hollow Darkness" song that made them gain popularity in the local scene. The "Killing for Pleasure Tour"  included cities like Mérida, México City, Cancun and Cd. del Carmen. 

After this DEATH SCYTHE sadly but temporarily split, leaving their future uncertain.

After nine years of silence, DEATH SCYTHE made their return as an active band in June of 2018 with a live concert and started to work in new songs.

In 2020, 12 years since their debut album, DEATH SCYTHE released their album Descending Into Xibalba in February of 2020.

Death Scythe has participated in several online festivals alongside bands such as JINGER, SHOKRAN and ARISE IN STABILITY.

The album Desceding into Xibalba was selected by the editors of Metal Injection as one of the top 10 best underground metal albums of 2020 at number 4.

Now, Death Scythe are about to release their new album Killing For Pleasure Forever.

Masters Of Perplexity is a concept album based on Mayan history, as one of us became intrigued by them visiting Copan.

Lyrics deal with the creation of men along with the Quiché Mayan tribe as described in the Popol Vuh, but change over to mysterious ways of dying, being sacrificed, clan wars etc.

Musically we want to find a good balance between the melodic parts creating an atmosphere and the more heavy headbang riffs. Reflecting this in our vocals we go from clean parts to sing along with to the more deep grunts for most of the verses.

SPEKTRVM State Their Purpose On ‘Blood For Heaven’

The upcoming album from Greek heavy metal group Spektrvm is entitled Blood For Heaven and consists of 9 tracks and 2 wide spectrums.

The first and most obvious, is the musical one. This album is a heavy metal based one, but includes a lot of different musical influence points. Progressive, folk, nu, thrash, doom are just some of those musical styles and genres.

The other point of focus is the lyrical one. Blood For Heaven is made up of songs that speak to different social and political failings in our society, with roots that trace back to acts of greed, pride and vanity and feelings of anger, sadness and depression. So you have to watch out for the details in both the musical composition, but also the meaning behind the lyrics.

A couple of months after releasing the digital single "Rite of Passage", Wooden Maw - solo experimental metal project from the French musician Eliott Raveau (Carbonic Fields, Sekhmet, Ruska, Oniromancer...) - just shared another glimpse from its work with a cover of the hit "Back In Black" from AC/DC, available right now on Bandcamp and the main legal services.

....For the record..

Wooden Maw is a project founded in september, 2020 by Eliott Raveau, a metal musician from Normandy, France and already involved into several band and projects in the French scene.

Initially aimed at being a canvas for practicing songwriting and mixing, the project progressively took a different shape with a whole part of it revolving around collaborating : indeed musicians are invited to take part on certain songs, which is a good way to initiate interaction between passionate people, and helps saturated vocalists who don't all have had the chance to be featured on records to have on of their performances immortalized.

Right now the project is separated in to sides which both have a compilation associated to them : "Collabs" which is for songs with guests, and "Independent Songs" gathering solo tracks As for the project's musical style, although making small changes here and there to fit the guests' taste, it revolves mostly around a rythmic metal tuned low, sounding halfway between Deathcore, Djent and Grindcore.

Among the different projects in which Eliott takes part, Wooden Maw is the most violent and spontaneous one Currently no shows are planned, but the idea to perform in front of an audience still is a source of motivation so never say 'never'

On Friday, October 8th Spectral Darkwave descended upon Hitchin’s Club 85; their mission to unleash the kaleidoscopic horror of their brand new album At Outer Dark upon their gathered disciples. On that special night the walls of reality were blown away and a glorious array of nightmares cascaded in – tales from beyond the stars and from the forgotten pages of history – all accompanied by a staggering barrage of superlative sonic fire power. Every moment of that ritual of magic, terror and mind warping ecstasy was captured and preserved for posterity. And now it is unveiled once more, under the banner of Live Fire Exorcise!

The release of At Outer Dark was a pivotal moment in the career of Spectral Darkwave. It represented not only the band’s return from six years of silence as they traversed the void, but a vast leap forward in their levels of musical achievement. The sheer excitement from both band and fans was palpable in Club 85, Spectral Darkwave’s hometown venue, as this new chapter of exploration and destruction was launched.
