MAUDIIR STREAM NEW EP "SOLILOQUE"

PRESS RELEASE:

Hailing from Quebec, Canada, the one-man, blackened thrash metal project of Maudiir is once again gracing the world with a solid, riff-driven EP “Soliloque” with big bass grooves and corrosive vocals raging on environmental issues, mixing thrash metal, black metal, and progressive elements, giving it a unique sound and feel. With two singles out, “L’Éloge du Cuivre” and “Toxic Cloud” already making waves in the underground scene, the EP is streaming now to captivate listeners. Maudiir describes what to expect:

“‘Soliloque’ is a different EP than ‘La Part du Diable’, which was also different from ‘Le Temps Peste’. I like to think that the overall production is getting better with every release. I don’t want to repeat myself or focus on some kind of recipe. The overall sound of ‘Soliloque’ is very different from ‘La Part du Diable’; different guitar, bass, and drum sounds. I also used less effect on the vocals, a more in-your-face approach. One song was recorded with a 7-string guitar, and I dabbled with some slide guitar on another. Trying new stuff. I particularly like the bass sound that cuts through really well. Being primarily a guitar player, I‘ve really come to enjoy giving a lot of space to the bass guitar in my music. It’s the instrument that I have the most pleasure recording.”

Maudiir works on one song at a time, from start to finish, then starts composing another one. Lyrics are written at the very end of the process of a song and the words are arranged to fit the music. Generally, he is inspired by what is going on in the world; politics, religion, consumer society and environment. This time around, past and present environmental disasters around the world pretty much made the whole portrait of the EP.

“Soliloque” is intense and aggressive, built on thrash metal foundations, flirting with prog, and always melodic. It’s not a linear EP; certainly not the same song repeated again and again. Open-minded people step in, especially those who listen to Voivod, Carcass, Darkthrone and Skeletonwitch.

Listen to “Soliloque” via its full stream premiere on Decibel Magazine HERE.

“Soliloque” is due out on April 7th and is available for pre-order at https://maudiir.bandcamp.com.

About: Coming from the underbelly of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Maudiir is an outlet for observations on obedience and industrialization riddled with man-made waste. With 80s heavy metal influences alongside black metal and punk, Maudiir is unique in sound; hauntingly dark while being corrosive and galloping.

Maudiir is a one-man black/prog/thrash metal project that formed to be musically independent. Starting with guitar, F. works his way through each sullen track, adding drums, recording all the colorations and textures of the guitars, adding bass, and finally writing the words, very often at the same time they are being recorded.

The pessimistic aura of the music combines with lyrics about consumer society, religion, science going awry, addiction to technology and environmental decay.

Maudiir released the debut EP “Le Temps Peste” in February 2020 and a year later unleashed the follow-up “La Part du Diable”.

Now in 2023, two years after the sophomore record, Maudiir returns with the third offering "Soliloque", an intense and aggressive five-track record built on thrash metal foundations, flirting with prog and melodic tendencies.

"Soliloque" is due out April 7, 2023.

F. (ex-Deeply Confused, Tears for the Dead Gods) is also currently leading prog/thrash metal outfit Trinity Blast.

SPINEBREAKER RELEASE "CAVERN OF INOCULATED COGNITION"

PRESS RELEASE:

San Jose, California-based SPINEBREAKER announces their upcoming EP, Cavern Of Inoculated Cognition, now set for May release through Creator-Destructor Records who today unveils the cover art, track listing, and lead single, “Spectral Forge.”

Formed in the Bay Area hardcore scene, SPINEBREAKER unites vocalist Alex Herrera, bassist Josef Alfonso (Sunami), drummer Brian Do (Ripped To Shreds), and the triple-guitar attack of Elliot Morrow (Gulch) Cole Kakimoto (Gulch), and Justin Ton (Dead Heat). The band is known for their intensely heavy live shows and crossover appeal. It’s rare that a band encapsulates different subgenres of heavy music convincingly and genuinely, but SPINEBREAKER does it seamlessly, with a sound shaped by 1990s death metal legends, and the raw nature and aesthetic of hardcore.

SPINEBREAKER’s released their crushing debut LP, Ice Grave, in 2016, and in 2019 released a promo tape featuring the single “The Cost Of Innocent Life” as well as a cover of Agnostic Front’s “Power.” The band now returns in 2023 with the monstrous Cavern Of Inoculated Cognition, which sees the band leaning heavily into their death metal influences. The record delivers six tracks of absolute violent riffs, pummeling blastbeats, and apocalyptic overtones, recorded, mixed, and mastered by the Evil Wizard Greg Wilkinson at Earhammer Studios in Oakland, California (Vastum, Mortuous, Necrot), and completed with logo by Alex Herrera, artwork by Brad Moore, and layout by Rachel Deering.

Herrera writes, “Our new single ‘Spectral Forge’ is about afflictions in all forms following and latching itself to you like a ghost or demonic entity. No matter what you do it tries to suck the life out of you and it feels like an inescapable part of you. I am basically at war with myself in my head at all times in one way or another and that is the theme of this record lyrically. Depression, anxiety, anger, and tendency toward violence. This is what the Cavern Of Inoculated Cognition represents musically, and it was perfectly captured in the cover art painted by the great Brad Moore.”

The first single from SPINEBREAKER’s Cavern Of Inoculated Cognition, “Spectral Forge,” is now streaming at THIS LOCATION.

Creator-Destructor Records will issue Cavern Of Inoculated Cognition May 5th on LP, CD, CS, and digital formats, the first pressing of vinyl limited to 500 copies featuring two color vinyl variants with an embossed cover. Find preorders for all versions at the label webshop HERE and Bandcamp HERE.

OCKRA RELEASE NEW SINGLE "WE, WHO DIDN´T KNOW"

PRESS RELEASE:

The band OCKRA arose in early 2018 in Gothenburg from what was left of the stoner doom band Sulphur Dreams. With a strong desire to stretch musical barriers away from what is known as classic stoner or doom metal, the trio around Jonas Nyström, Erik Björnlinger and Alex Spielhaupter set out to develop their songwriting skills and find their own style under the new name OCKRA. The band has a wide range of influences from metal to folk, americana and jazz.

The first EP with four songs was self-recorded in a 'DIY' spirit at the home studio in Onsala during spring/summer 2019 (with guest singer Ammy from EPA/Lastkaj14) and was released in March 2020 via Argonauta Records a week before the first lockdown put everything on hold. The songs were well received by the media and the reviews in online and print magazines turned out very positive. As an example, the EP got 12 out 15 points in Germany's largest print magazine for extreme metal "Legacy".

During the summer of 2021 the trio went out to the little village Hesedorf near Hamburg to record their debut album “Gratitude” together with Peter Voigtmann (The Ocean Collective, Heads.) at his studio "Die Mühle" (the mill). The calm environment and the nature around made it possible to go into a state of creative isolation. That may have had an impact on the music, which now has more elements of singer-songwriter and folk music.

The lyrics have been written in the shade of the pandemic and severe illnesses amongst close friends and family members in this period. Writing these very personal lyrics has been some kind of therapeutic and despite the severeness of the topics they are meant to provide a glimpse of hope.

Says the band: “We are stoked to be a part of the Argonauta family again! After having released our first EP with Argonauta Records, continuing the good collaboration for the release of our debut album feels like the right next step for us to go. We thank Gero for this opportunity and look forward to joining a roster with bands that cover a variety of different heavy musical genres and beyond. Argonauta Records is the perfect companion for us!”

Give ear to the new single “We, Who Didn’t Know” with more news to be revealed soon:

THE END OF SIX THOUSAND YEARS RELEASE SELF-TITLED EP

PRESS RELEASE:

Italian black-death metal punks THE END OF SIX THOUSAND YEARS have been mostly dormant since 2012's "Perpetuum", but have now come out of their long hibernation. The band returns with a new self-titled EP, which is slated for release via Hypershape Records on May 18th 2023.

The first single "Voidwalker" is now streaming HERE.

The Italian black-death metal punks have crafted a release that will hit both hard and direct as well as challenge the listeners with its rich detail and enormous atmosphere. Extreme, yet diverse. Intense, captivating and simply brooding in every form!

The EP marks a new era for a band that has proven to continue to make music of the highest quality despite facing many challenges and line-up changes along the way.

Encompassing elements of black-death metal, post rock, dark punk and more and shrouded under a veil of bleakness, THE END OF SIX THOUSAND YEARS casts its spell and captures an atmosphere that is raw, otherworldly, and ultimately tragic.

Tracklist:

01. Collider

02. Endbearer

03. Voidwalker

04. The Man Who Loves to Hurt Himself (Today Is The Day cover)

THE END OF SIX THOUSAND YEARS was formed in 2004 as a five-piece scattered all over Italy.

After releasing a 3-song demo in 2005 and a split with the American act Embrace The End in 2006, T.E.O.S.T.Y. quickly gain a cult status in the underground scene publishing "Isolation" (2008), flawlessly blending Swedish death metal, black metal, crust and post rock influences.

In 2012 the band released the second effort, "Perpetuum", which displayed a darker and more atmospheric approach to their trademark sound.

From the following year, the band limited their activities until entering a hiatus that would last for about a decade.

In 2020 the band slowly started over with a new line-up consisting of 3 founding members (Nicola, Matteo and Luca) with the addition of Michele Basso (Viscera///, Formalist, Hypershape Records) and Gianmaria Mustillo (Hierophant, Carnero, Abaton) both taking care of the vacant guitar duties.

The revamped line up brings forth a new EP consisting of 3 brand new songs as well as a cover of the influential American noise band Today Is The Day.

T.E.O.S.T.Y.'s latest opus sounds rawer, more aggressive and dissonant than ever. The mixing process was handled by Gabriele Gramaglia (Cosmic Putrefaction) making sure those bleak, discordant slabs of punk-infused black/death metal would be as punishing as possible.

During their various runs across Europe T.E.O.S.T.Y. shared the stage with The Ocean, Cursed, Mouth of the Architect, Dead To Fall and Martyr AD, among many others.

Current line-up:

Nicola Donà - Vocals

Gianmaria Mustillo - Guitars

Michele Basso - Guitars

Luca Dalù - Bass

Matteo Borzini - Drums

- Demo (2005, Self Released)

- Split w/ Embrace The End (2006, Still Life Records)

In the wake of the announcement, band mastermind Per Nilsson comments:

"It brings us the utmost pleasure and pride to announce the long-awaited and much-teased 'Phase II' to the world along with its first single! It's been a long time coming but I'm glad that we went the extra mile to make everything as perfect as we felt it needed to be.

The world is a different place in 2023 than it was in 2014 when 'Neohumanity' was released... We see the rise of AI before our very eyes and while we all look in awe at the wonders it can create it is easy to think of some very disturbing scenarios. In our new album, we once again explore these themes of neohumanity, artificial intelligence and the technological singularity from a dystopian point of view."
