CAELI CONCEPT RELEASE "LUNAISON"

PRESS RELEASE:

Caeli Concept is an intriguing musical project that defies convention. Drawing from a diverse array of influences, they seamlessly blend the fluidity of progressive rock with the darkness of progressive metal and even venture into funk and jazz-rock territories. Their refusal to be confined by boundaries is evident, resulting in a captivating and dynamic sound.

Their debut album, The Dark Playground, took listeners on an unconventional journey, brimming with energy, intricate compositions, virtuosity, and unexpected textures. Now, with their latest release, Lunaison, Caeli Concept has further honed their identity. Fearlessly exploring uncharted waters, they remain committed to serving the essence of music.

Lunaison exudes a unique alchemy. Imagine atmospheric passages intertwining with a robust rhythm section, searing brass, and an unexpected vocal arsenal. As you listen, you’ll find yourself propelled into the heart of the celestial vault, the intensity of the musical voyage guaranteed. It’s an album tailor-made for live performances, inviting audiences to immerse themselves fully in its cosmic soundscape.

Emerging onto the scene in 2019, Caeli Concept was conceived by the masterminds Benoit Serret (bass) and Clément Réviriego (guitar and production). The band's sonic evolution soared with the inclusion of Clément Denys on drums and Flavien Morel on keyboards and arrangements. Their inaugural album, "The Dark Playground," captivated audiences upon its release on April 19, 2021.

In early 2022, the band began working on the new album "Lunaison" with Thomas Hilaire (drums) and decided to include several guest musicians. They were joined once again by the brass section already present on the first album (Emilie Klipfel on saxophone, Olivier Viseux on trombone, and Nicolas Renard on trumpet), and also by a long list of singers (Yann Ligner from Klone, to name but one) as well as saxophonist Cyril Prevost. Recorded entirely at Wolf Abbey studio and masterfully crafted by Acle Kahney, "Lunaison" promises to elevate listeners into realms of celestial wonder.

PARADOX RIFT RELEASE "ENSNARED"

PRESS RELEASE:

Cleveland, OH's PARADOX RIFT new album "Ensnared" due out on May 10th.

Having been recognized in their local scene with the BEST METAL BAND award from the Cleveland Music Awards in 2022 and nominated again in 2023, PARADOX RIFT has their sights set on their next offering of brutal, technical, and intentional, style-bending metal.

Combining their experimental death/math style with heavy grooves and progressive twists, the band keeps listeners reeling for what comes next, and with this forthcoming record, fans will find not just one spectrum or one specific style of metal.

Recommended for fans of Between the Buried and Me, Gojira, Lamb of God, Converge, and Voivod

Music Video / Single - Grave-Snuggler - https://youtu.be/cqwTC1Lw298

For the album's production "Ensnared" LP was recorded in an unusual manner. First of all, the band members couldn't align all of their schedules for studio time. Resulting in multiple solo sessions to complete the album. The drums aren't midi drums like in most modern metal albums. Instead they are natural acoustic drums with no samples or triggering.

Another fun fact about the making of this album. Almost all of the tracks on "Ensnared" were recorded without the use of pre-production when entering the studio. For example, when drums were tracked, there was no reference for the drummer. No guitars, no music, not even click tracks for tempos. The album was basically recorded by feel. Once their drummer Eric had a few solid takes down, it was time for the strings to come in for tracking. Preston had tracked all guitars and even a lot of the bass work on the album alongside bassist Osha. Vocals were added last, like the icing on an elaborately baked cake. With both Luke and Preston recording the vocal arrangements. By the time everything had come together, it felt as if the album had become its own entity. It seems almost human-like in ways. It's raw, emotional, aggressive and imperfect in its natural state. Humans made this album… Not programs, robots or metronomes. Real people with real instruments. At the end of the day PARADOX RIFT wrote this album to be felt more than to be heard.

Lyrically, this album comes from lots of different inspirations, storytelling, art, metaphor, life experiences, even other songs and music have inspired the wordsmithing. Overall, the lyrics paint a vivid picture as the intense music tells the complex story of how it will leave its audience "Ensnared".

LOCUSTS AND HONEY RELEASE "TEACH ME TO LIVE THAT I DREAD THE GRAVE AS LITTLE AS MY BED"

PRESS RELEASE:

Teach me to live that I dread the grave as little as my bed

by Locusts and Honey

Tracklist:

1.Surfeit of Lampreys

2.Leathern Cord

3.Confraternities of the Cord

4.Beauty and Atrocity

5.Traitor to Love 05:30

6.Damnation Memoriae

“Teach me to live that I dread the grave as little as my bed” is a meditation on death and living well, inspired by the bog bodies of Ireland and Denmark – people of the Iron Age who were sacrificially hanged and found extremely well-preserved in peat. Crafted with meticulous care, this opus of dejection comprises a single, sprawling 28-minute odyssey, split into 6 movements.

Rooted in the fertile soil of early '90s doom (Corrupted, Winter, Esoteric), infused with the raw essence of black metal (Strid, Darkthrone), and bathed in the ethereal embrace of cinematic soundscapes (William Basinski, Henryk Górecki, Coil), Locusts and Honey conjure a sonic maelstrom that traverses the realms of darkness and despair. Vocalist Stephen Murray's anguished growls, which invoke memories of Lee Dorian, are intertwined with the melancholic melodies of multi-instrumentalist Tomás Robertson to cast a spell of sorrow and fury upon all who dare to listen.

CRYPT SERMON RELEASE "THE STYGIAN ROSE"

PRESS RELEASE:

The Stygian Rose

by Crypt Sermon

Label: Dark Descent Records

Tracklist:

1.Glimmers in the Underworld

2.Thunder (Perfect Mind)

3.Down in the Hollow

4.Heavy is the Crown of Bone 05:08

5.Scrying Orb

6.The Stygian Rose

Dark heavy metallers Crypt Sermon unveil their bewitching new album, The Stygian Rose, under the Dark Descent banner. Featuring guitarist Steve Jansson (Daeva, Unrest), vocalist Brooks Wilson (Unrest), drummer Enrique Sagarnaga (Daeva, The Silver), guitarist Frank Chin (Daeva), bassist Matt Knox (Horrendous, The Silver), and keyboardist Tanner Anderson (Obsequiae, Majesties), the Philadelphia-based sextet parlayed their time away from the spotlight into a grander, more mysterious Crypt Sermon. The interflow of doom and heavy metals underpins The Stygian Rose, but these boundaries are effortlessly transcended. From the blistering solo salvo of "Glimmers in the Underworld" and the commanding rhythm of "Heavy is the Crown of Bone" to the evocative Near Eastern vibes of "Thunder (Perfect Mind)" and the intricate, masterful journey of the 11-minute title track, The Stygian Rose epitomizes the band's burgeoning musical and conceptual prowess.

"We wanted The Stygian Rose to scratch a lot of itches that aren't being scratched," says guitarist Steve Jansson. "That's my goal when I make music. I want to make things that I don't hear other people doing or at least don't hear others doing all in one package. The music also has to have staying power and replay value. [I wanted] that addictive feeling you had when you listened to records as a teenager."

Crypt Sermon tracked The Stygian Rose with acclaimed producer Arthur Rizk (Blood Incantation, Cirith Ungol) and engineer Aidan Elias (Blood Incantation, Wayfarer) at Redwoods in Philadelphia. Although Rizk handled Out of the Garden (2015) and The Ruins of Fading Light (2019), the team captured the band's multi-genre chaplet in a new light this time. Singles "Glimmers in the Underworld," "Heavy is the Crown of Bone," and "Thunder (Perfect Mind)" are frighteningly effective in their [Neil] Kernon-esque production. At the same time, deep album tracks "Scrying Orb," "Down in the Hollow," and "The Stygian Rose" cast long, mysterious shadows. Rizk summoned from Crypt Sermon the same big-stage sound producers Dave Jerden and Rick Rubin coaxed out of Alice In Chains and Trouble, respectively.

"We knew we wanted an aggressive sound," singer Brooks Wilson says. "Like [Metallica's] Black album or [Queensrÿche's] Operation: Mindcrime with loud smashing rock drums. The guitars had to be aggressive and loud. The bass had to be tuned in more than on our previous albums. The bass had to be clean and deep. We were generally after a more clean, distinct, and audible production. The Stygian Rose has way more depth than anything we've done before."

Adorned with captivating artwork and featuring an enchanting (yet dark) lyrical concept by Wilson, this is Crypt Sermon’s level-up moment. Dive into The Stygian Rose and experience its rich rewards.

BLACK LAVA RELEASE "THE SAVAGE WINDS TO WISDOM"

PRESS RELEASE:

The Savage Winds To Wisdom

by BLACK LAVA

Tracklist:

1.Colour Of Death

4.Unsheathing Nightmares

5.Summoning Shadows

6.Ironclad Sarcophagus 04:08

7.Pagan Dust

8.Sanguis Lupus

9.The Savage Winds To Wisdom

Two years after their smoldering debut, Black Lava come roaring back on 'The Savage Winds to Wisdom'. The Aussie’s second album erupts from the same crusted cauldron of influences. Blackened countermelodies and a hex of heavy, proggy rhythms boil amidst old-school death metal, spilling over into medieval fantasies. Carved from a slithering groove and one bone-crushing riff, “Ironclad Sarcophagus” raises an ancient wizard from the crypt.

The peculiar alchemy of Black Lava pools together with the ease and fury of a mythic flood. Dan Presland also drums alongside guitarist Ben Boyle in Vipassi and Presland’s old Ne Obliviscaris bandmate Benjamin Baret pops in for an eerily screeching solo on the title track. But the band took their time in building the cavernous world that lies within ‘The Savage Winds to Wisdom’. It’s not until the opening track has bubbled to a nice and sludgy head that Rob Watkins unleashes the first of many blood-soaked roars. “Speak to me O silent one”, he beckons amidst thunderous, rain-soaked ambience.

On ‘The Savage Winds to Wisdom’, Black Lava summon a perfect storm of technical blackened death metal.

"Few things are more exciting to us than unveiling a brand new, entirely unknown band to the elusive world of dissonant extreme Metal.

Kvadrat, Choir or Beyond the Grasp of Light are just some examples of extremely strong debuts that we weren't only honored to be a part of, but which also left a lasting impression on the underground.

Add Hecatoncheir and their debut 'Nightmare Utopia' to that list, because they'll undoubtedly make their mark with their immensely contemporary take on dissonant Death and Black Metal.

The project from Slovakia is a mid tempo juggernaut with an often ominous, entrancing atmosphere. But when you least expect it, a ripper like 'The Crowning Horror' will pull you out of that trance and throw you headfirst into the nightmares Hecatoncheir are summoning on this album.

For fans of: Cosmovore, Owl, Nightmarer"
