Finnish black metal outfit HAVUKRUUNU will unleash their Tavastland full-length February 28th via Svart Records.

After three albums, the pieces of the puzzle fit, and HAVUKRUUNU returns with a vengeance. The sorrowful guitars of Stefa and Bootleg-Henkka draw threatening dark shadows on the wall, Kostajainen's drum bombardment pulses like embers of a dying fire in the hearth. All the while, Humö's bass guitar is clanking and wailing like the icy wind rattling windows and banging walls as Stefa roars and channels messages from the netherworld or preaches wisdom of ancient days, backed by a choir.

Lords of Hell smile approvingly as the flames of hatred and cunning of their beloved sons drown a dying old world, and the heart of the earth trembles the birth of the new and weird. HAVUKRUUNU is the spirit of freedom, the harbinger of oblivion, and it tells you: “Fly, You Fools!”

Elaborates Stefa on the album’s theme, “Tavastland tells how in 1237 the Tavastians rose in a rebellion against the church of Christ and drove the popes naked into the frost to die. Tavastland reveals our fathers’ centuries old sins and lies of consolation. Tavastland speaks of him, who has become a prisoner of his home, alienated from the land of the forest and is now afraid of the dark with all lights on, surrounded by his smart devices. Tavastland tells about the freedom we lost. Tavastland haunts its listener to the grave, and I will personally open that grave one bleak night and steal the fading light of your sempiternal soul.”

Italian black metal act SAKAHITER will release their new album "Samnite Black Metal" on February 7th 2025 via Time To Kill Records.

“This track is one of the songs from the new album that best encapsulates the band's evolution and journey from its inception to the present day.

The lyrics focus on the spirit animal used by the Samnites, in this case represented by the Wolf, which guided them in their quest for new lands.

The song represents a fusion of history and mythology. Here, the Wolf is portrayed as a kind of demon leading the Samnite armies to victory under the will and strength of Mamerte (Mars), the god of war, one of the deities worshipped by the Samnites. All the victims claimed by its fangs, followed by the army, serve as an offering to the gods, who in return grant them renewed strength. At the end of the battle, the statue of the goddess Kerres, the deity of birth, rises high, satisfied with the blood sacrifice. She bestows upon the people the gift of life, fertility, abundant harvests, and good omens under the protection of the gods”.

"Samnite Black Metal" delves into the dark and ancestral rites of the Samnites, an ancient warrior people of southern Italy. Each track plunges into a sonic abyss of primal fury, evoking the mysticism and brutality of their rituals tied to the forces of nature.

Its dark and powerful soundscapes embody the courage and rage of a people who fought to their last breath, invoking arcane deities and practicing ancient rites of war and sacrifice.

This is a sonic experience that fuses the brutal ferocity of death metal with the occult atmosphere of black metal. It dissolves the line between life and death, resurrecting the Samnites as lords of a lost world steeped in magic and darkness.

The album’s concept immerses the listener in archaic and forgotten mythologies, exploring themes of ancient mysticism, darkness, and a profound connection with the spirits of nature and malevolent forces. It draws on the Samnites' war rituals and sacrificial practices performed before battle to secure the favor of the gods. The atmosphere is intense and suffocating, with dark and sinister tones conjuring visions of shadowy forests, crumbling temples, and ancient rites.

Amid sharp guitars and relentless drumming, the call of dark gods resonates. The vocals narrate tales of rituals steeped in blood and fire, worshiping hidden deities nestled in the woods and mountains. The brutal soundscapes—driven by distorted guitars and vocals that alternate between guttural growls and piercing screams—mirror the ferocity of war and the mysticism of magical rites.

Biography:

The band was formed in Campobasso in 2002 under the name SAKAHITER, which in the Oscan language means “let it be sacrificed.”

More specifically, it referred to the sacrifices of men and animals to propitiate the gods before a battle, a ceremony deeply rooted among the Samnites. Oscan was chosen because it is the ancient language spoken by the Samnites, a warrior people originally from a restricted area of southern Italy centered in Molise, Campania, and Basilicata.

From the very beginning, SAKAHITER identified their genre as Samnite Black Metal, as both the lyrics and iconography reflect Samnite history.

In 2003, they released their first demo, “Lex Sacrata,” recorded in Rome at the Temple Of Noise Studios, using as the cover an 1879 engraving depicting the defeat of the Romans at the hands of the Samnites and the humiliation of the Caudine Forks.

After several live performances and some lineup changes, SAKAHITER recorded “Omnes Eiura Deos,” a 7-inch vinyl, again in Rome but this time at the 16th Cellar Studios, released in early 2005.

With a new lineup, in 2021, SAKAHITER signed a contract with Nova Era Records to release a new EP, “Legio Linteata,” and to reissue “Lex Sacrata.”

The band boasts numerous performances supporting acts such as Sodom, Dismember, Onslaught, Belphegor, Master and Necrodeath.

Carbonized Records is pleased to release Ceremonial Magic, the debut EP from Finnish blackened funeral doom duo, PURGATORY HALLUCINATIONS.

PURGATORY HALLUCINATIONS hails from Helsinki and was originally forged in 2023 as a solo project by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, A, in a creative effort to embrace the dark arts of Finnish funeral doom legends such as Thergothon, Unholy, and Skepticism. Later, A’s musical conjurings reaped further inspiration from the likes of Merkstave, Disembowelment, Summoning, and Emperor.

Together with the black witchcraft of vocalist/drummer Yaldabaoth, the dark and unique soundscapes that mark Ceremonial Magic were composed. The three-track offering combines chilling atmospheres and ghoulishly slow riffs with ritual magic keys and cold, sorrowful black metal stylings. The esoteric opus takes its listeners on a spectral journey through the kingdom of the lost spirits. 

Issues the band, “The dark secrets of Ceremonial Magic begin with a haunting dungeon synth track ‘Introduction.’ First song, ‘Spectral Fog,’ is homage to the beauty of true Finnish funeral doom. The title track is an eight-minute song which includes gloomy, slow riffs, haunting clean guitar parts, and waves of atmospheric black metal. The lyrical themes for Ceremonial Magic are heavily influenced by Manly P Hall’s esoteric philosophy on his book The Secret Teachings Of All Ages (1928).”

Ceremonial Magic was recorded in Espoo at the band’s rehearsal place, in the middle of the icy and cold winter of 2024 and is available on cassette and digital formats.

Since their formation in 2010, Válvera has emerged as one of Brazil's most promising metal bands. With three powerhouse albums under their belt—Cidade Em Caos (2015), Back To Hell (2017), and Cycle Of Disaster (2020)—the band has captivated audiences and critics alike. Their most recent release, Cycle Of Disaster, launched globally through Brutal Records (USA), earned high praise, ranking as the 8th best Brazilian metal album of 2020 by Roadie Crew, Brazil’s leading rock and metal magazine.

Thrash Metal Titans with a Global Reach

Known for their electrifying performances, Válvera has played over 300 shows and completed three international tours, leaving their mark across continents:

Back To Hell European Tour (2018): Performed in Germany, France, Belgium, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Slovenia, Poland, and Italy.

South American Tour with Prong (2022): Stunned audiences in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Colombia.

Unleashed Fury European Tour Part I (2023): Played to packed venues in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, and Poland.

With their distinct sound—a fusion of thrash metal and innovative subgenre elements—European media has coined their style as "Neo Thrash Metal."

On the Brink of Global Domination

Válvera's music is available across all major streaming platforms, and four tracks have even made their way into popular online games like Guitar Flash and GrooVR. As they finalize their upcoming album, Unleashed Fury, at Dual Noise Studios, the band is gearing up for their Reckoning Europe Tour in April 2025, with shows spanning six countries.
