AMONG THE BODIES RELEASE NEW TRACK: "MEANT FOR EACH OTHER"

PRESS RELEASE:

Denver Colorado's "AMONG THE BODIES"  have returned with their new song "Meant For Each Other".

The band comments, "Our new single is about losing a close friend to a new relationship. The music video tells the story and captures the roller coaster of emotions that come along with it, while also highlighting the personalities of the band members."

The song's brutal blend of deathcore, hardcore and metalcore is a perfect primer for their upcoming EP Making Sense of Our Decay, which is out on June 27th.

AMONG THE BODIES is:

Raye - drums

Mac - guitar

Keith - vocals

Addison - bass

About AMONG THE BODIES:

Hailing from Denver, Colorado, Among the Bodies aren’t afraid of anything—including the liminal space between hardcore, deathcore, death metal, and metalcore, which is where they’re most comfortable. While the riffs may be hard to classify, they aren’t hard to mosh to. Appealing to both the old heads who saw deathcore and metalcore storm the scene and the new generation that embraces experimentation, Among the Bodies’ number-one goal is to keep it heavy while having fun.

Making Sense of Our Decay, their second EP, is a bit of a departure from the first EP, Chaotic Intent, which focused more on technicality and melody. Now, with their revised lineup, Among the Bodies are here to make you forget about genre conventions and lose yourself in the pit. While the subject matter on the EP gets a bit serious, delving into the realities of being an aging metalhead or hardcore kid, it’s all done with a tongue-in-cheek attitude and a love for heavy music reminiscent of the genre’s forefathers. We’re all decaying slowly, so why not have fun while doing it?

VERTEBRA RELEASE "THE SAME"

PRESS RELEASE:

Vertebra - The Same

Old School Brazilians Reborn

LABEL: XTREEM MUSIC

RELEASE DATE: JULY 29th 2025

As I walk through this world of manipulators I guard my inner flame; hide its guiding light from the hungry eyes of thieves and despots disguised as benefactors. Self proclaimed demigods deliver sermons laced with fear, offering to reveal the only path through life, the only way to live, to succeed, to be saved, to survive…yet the price for their ‘wisdom’ never changes – the extinguishing of my flame, the sacrifice of myself, conformity and enslavement. Whether they wear horns or beatific smiles, whether they rage and threaten or tempt and beguile…beneath the layers of deceit they are all the same.

Originally active in the mid ‘90s underground music scene of Rio Grande do Sul, in Porto Alegre, Brazil, where they quickly established a place for themselves with their fierce live performances, intense, intriguing music and uncompromising attitude, Vertebra were all too soon driven apart by the unwelcome pressures of life. However that was not to be the end of the Vertebra story, because those purveyors of melodic, technical, progressive death/thrash metal have returned, with their dreams and inspiration reignited, ready to achieve all that slipped away from them decades ago.

The Same is the long overdue full length debut album from Vertebra and it is an astonishing collection of songs, demonstrating fantastic technical dexterity, but also exquisite songcraft and melodic awareness. With a sound that manages to balance raw edges with clarity and separation, authenticity of expression with quality of tone, Vertebra proceed to unveil an array of metal masterpieces that defy the passage of time. The lead work throughout is stunning, with the solos being highlights and fundamental parts of each song, rather than mere adornments or space-fillers, while the rhythm section weaves intricate exploratory webs beneath the endless treasure trove of riffs. Impassioned, fiery vocals bind the disparate elements together, a blend of Chuck Schuldiner and Mille Petrozza delivering thoughtful and insightful lyrics. Despite the music’s many layers and elaborate sophistication The Same races by, time standing still as it unfurls its vivid, vibrant display. Personal favourites will change with every listen as there is no weak moment to be found, from the breathtaking deftness of touch displayed in ‘Overcoming The Void’ to the elegantly realised immersive nature of ‘Architecture Of Perspective, the searing intensity of ‘Behavior In The Eyes’ to the melancholic air of ‘Blessed Are The Forgetful’, Vertebra have brought us so much to cherish.

The new era of Vertebra will begin on July 29th when Xtreem Music unleash The Same upon the world. The album will be available on CD and digital formats, with the CD featuring a bonus song in the form of the original 1995 demo track, ‘Humanity’. From the past to the future, Vertebra are back with an album that may be The Same in name, but is anything but in nature.

VIOGRESSION RELEASE "THAUMATURGIC VEIL"

PRESS RELEASE:

U.S. Death Metal veterans, Viogression, will self release new album, Thaumaturgic Veil, on July 11. The album's first single, "Renumeration," is out now and available at the following location:

viogression.docsend.com/view/brjjmt3r97xe8b3p

Thaumaturgic Veil is a metaphysical sonic construct, weaving intricate threads of human consciousness, vibrational frequency, and esoteric intent into a tapestry that transcends the boundaries of death metal. This work explores the interplay of awareness, magic, and the latent potential encoded within humanity’s neurocognitive framework.

Thaumaturgic Veil explores the interplay of consciousness, subconsciousness, and materiality, viewing existence as a binary system shaped by vibrational frequencies—the core medium molded by individual intent. These measurable waves connect the chaos of infinite potential to the order of the observable universe, reflecting ancient alchemy’s transformation of matter and awareness, akin to esoteric traditions and Thelema’s Great Work, uniting boundless Nuit and focused Hadit. Meditation and altered mental states enhance this, using frequencies to push perception and align with higher realities, as Crowley’s magick—change through intent—shapes the album’s structure.

The opening track ("Enûma Elish Ilū") introduces infinity as a recurring theme, its modal tones evoking Nuit’s expanse and microtonal shifts hinting at Hadit’s precision, tying into the album’s finite-eternal tension. Building on 2022’s 3rd Stage of Decay, this work intensifies with complex compositions: a primordial voice, heavy, growling guitars and bass conjure raw potential; relentless drums blast and propel it forward, while melodic leads and overtones pierce the dissonance, balancing distortion and clarity. Guttural yet ethereal, its sound design engages the auditory cortex, heightening awareness to match the album’s vision.

For enthusiasts of old-school death metal, Viogression delivers a raw, unrelenting sound steeped in the genre’s early ‘90s roots. Reviewers frequently liken their sludgy, thuggish heaviness to Obituary, noting a shared penchant for trudging, dissonant riffs, though Viogression infuses a Midwestern grit distinct from Florida’s swampy polish. Their technical ferocity and morbid atmospheres draw parallels to Death’s foundational aggression and Pestilence’s chaotic edge, as seen in comments praising their thrash-leaning debut Expound & Exhort. Fans of Morbid Saint’s cult intensity and Autopsy’s doom-drenched decay will find kinship in Viogression’s ability to meld intricate brutality with a haunting, unrefined vibe. Echoes of Possessed’s primal fury and Morbid Angel’s raw power further cement their appeal, making them a hidden gem for devotees of death metal’s formative, unpolished era.

Diego Gedoz de Souza is responsible for the artwork. Make sure to check out him out on Facebook and Instagram.

BIO:

Formed in 1988, Viogression swiftly forged a formidable presence in the metal underground with three searing demos, paving the way for their critically lauded debut, Expound & Exhort (1990). This landmark release launched them onto a world tour, igniting stages alongside Death and Pestilence. Their second album, Passage (1994), released incomplete, led to a nine-year hiatus. Reborn in 2003, Viogression unleashed fresh material, culminating in the 2014 EP, A Pure Formality, which sparked the band’s comeback with electrifying festival performances. Defying 2020’s global turmoil, they delivered 3rd Stage of Decay, released worldwide in 2022 through Satanath Records and Moribund Records. Now, Viogression stands on the brink of their fourth album, Thaumaturgic Veil, set for Summer 2025, poised to unleash a cataclysmic new chapter in their storied legacy.

TINE RELEASE "A WINTER HORRORSCOPE"

PRESS RELEASE:

Band: TINE

Album: A Winter Horrorscape

Country: USA

Genre: Symphonic black/death metal

Release date: September 5, 2025

Track list:

1. Winter Comes

2. A Feather from Lucifer’s Wing

3. A Path Through Frozen Woods

4. Ex Cathedra

5. Return to the Black Forest in Winter

6. The Scathing Blizzard

7. Triumph at Nineveh

8. Winter Horrorscape

Tine was officially founded by Count Murmur on April 1st, 2011. A seasoned bassist and vocalist by trade, Murmur had been in several bands prior, playing many styles of heavy metal ranging from thrash to melodic death metal. Murmur’s initial intent was to gather like-minded musicians to begin writing material for a demo release; however, it became clear that the material was deemed challenging and formidable by the vast majority of local musicians. Azim Erebus would soon join the band only for very short time before Count Murmur, again, struck out on his own in the autumn of 2011. That winter was a cold, bleak season – filled with the contemplations of a starving musician…

2012 was a quiet year filled with continued unfruitful attempts to find like-minded musicians. It is over the course of this year that Count Murmur began contemplating setting out completely on his own as a solo project, similar to the influential black metal project: Burzum. In the summer of 2012, Murmur had decided to pursue learning guitar in addition to bass. In addition, Murmur’s wife, Vanth, had discovered her knack for playing keyboard around the same time. It was something she had enjoyed in her youth, but hadn’t played in many years. It wasn’t until the start of 2013 that Murmur would seriously delve into becoming a guitarist to complement his, already formidable, musical repertoire.

In early 2013, Vanth had officially joined Tine as the keyboardist and Count Murmur continued to master his guitar-playing technique. The duo struck out to write the 1st demo single, which would be released to the world in the summer of 2013. The song, “Encounter with the Shadow People”, inspired by a real supernatural encounter from Murmur’s youth, was written by Count Murmur with Vanth adding her eerie keystrokes. All duties for the song, except keyboards, were handled by Count Murmur – including bass, guitar, vocals, and drum programming. The demo song was released to the world on July 14th, 2013.

After the release of the demo, Murmur began work on a full album composition. This process would last over 2 years in total due to other life obligations. As a full time scientist by day, Murmur’s life was a tale of two personas. Throughout the album’s fruition, Murmur became increasingly skilled at playing the guitar, while Vanth rediscovered her skills of her youth as a keyboardist.

Murmur and Vanth finished composing their first full album in January 25th, 2015. Preparations then began for the undertaking of recording all instruments in Count Murmur’s basement, lovingly dubbed, “Count Murmur’s Dungeon of Horrors.”

Recording for the 1st full-length record began on March 1st, 2015. Murmur recorded his instruments the traditional way; by using microphones in front of amplifiers. This recording process took just over 2 months to complete and was further complicated by a series of unfortunate events; however, Murmur persevered and completed the recording at the end of May. For vocals, Murmur used a similar vocal technique as Nergal from Behemoth, with layered vocal tracks. Other than layered vocals, reverb, or chorus effects, no other vocal augmentation was done on the recording.

For mixing and mastering of the album, Murmur’s initial plan was to do this himself, as he did with the demo single; however, it was clear that this was beyond Murmur’s scope of equipment and abilities as a sound engineer. Murmur was determined to find the perfect sound engineer, with the passion and commitment that would make his album extraordinary. The services of Darren Carikas, of Ghost Machine Studios in London, UK, were enlisted for both mixing and mastering. The album was produced by Darren and Murmur, remotely, through e-mails and file transfer service from July 1st, 2015 to September 4th, 2015.

Finding someone to do artwork was yet another roadblock that Murmur and Vanth faced. Vanth is a natural born artist, so she decided to take Adobe Photoshop classes with her local library to learn the software in order to create the album art. In addition to the album art, Vanth did all the photography, photo editing, and corpse-paint.

On September 6th, 2015, “The Forest Dreams of Black” was released and was immediately well-received by fans. Tine was also entered into the Encyclopaedia Metallum by an anonymous supporter. The debut album was distributed on 38 online platforms.

Writing immediately began for the next Tine album, but it was clear this process would take much longer than the first album due to many events occurring in the personal lives of both Count Murmur and Vanth. While many trials and tribulations were encountered, Count Murmur never lost focus on Tine. Vanth, however, decided it was time to take a step back from music and focus on their family and household.

For the next Tine album, Count Murmur decided to compose all the symphonic elements of the album himself, incorporating new elements such as choirs, and stringed instruments into the musical soundscape. It was also clear as the writing continued that the songs had begun to take on an aquatic character, and the music guided Count Murmur to dive further into these themes. The music of “Mergae Maris Profundi” took shape and was recorded in the spring of 2021. Once again, Count Murmur would enlist the services of Darren Carikas, of Ghost Machine Studios in London, UK, for mixing, mastering, and production.

“Mergae Maris Profundi” was self-released in digital and CD formats on January 28th, 2022 and was received exceptionally by fans and critics alike. The album was praised for being “both enjoyable and immersive” with YouTube plays exceeding 10’s of thousands of plays.

Writing for the 3rd album, and follow-up to “Mergae Maris Profundi”, began during the production for the 2nd album. This time, the songs began to take on a wintry and cold feel, so Count Murmur decided this would be the theme of the album. Additionally, Murmur decided to enlist the skills of session musicians for this album, broadening the breadth and scope of of the music considerably.

The new album, set to release on September 5th, 2025, is titled “A Winter Horrorscape” and features 8 crushing songs of pure symphonic black/death metal.

PHILOSOPHOBIA RELEASE VIDEO FOR "THE FORGOTTEN PART I"

PRESS RELEASE:

Watch PHILOSOPHOBIA’s “The Forgotten Part I” video HERE.

Decibel Magazine is hosting a video premiere for “The Forgotten Part I,” by European progressive metal quintet, PHILOSOPHOBIA, formed by former and current members of Kamelot, Paul Di’Anno, Wastefall, and more. The song marks the second single to drop ahead of the band’s incoming second album, The Constant Void, nearing its July release on Sensory Records.

As with their acclaimed eponymous debut, PHILOSOPHOBIA returned to Phil Hillen at SU2 Studios in Germany (Powerwolf, Kamelot) who engineered, recorded, mixed, and mastered The Constant Void. The fascinating cover artwork was again handled by Björn Gooßes at Killustrations in close cooperation with PHILOSOPHOBIA mastermind Andreas Ballnus, and photography was handled by Maj Music. The song “F 40.8” features a guest keyboard solo by Vikram Shankar, and the epic twenty-minute closing track “The Forgotten Part Il” features a spoken word passage by Rob Leland.

With the new single, guitarist Andreas Ballnus reveals, “‘The Forgotten Part I’ tells the story of Gaia's view on how humans have treated her. In Greek mythology, Gaia stands for Mother Earth, known as the first to arise from the primal chaos. As a reaction to all the things humans have done to Mother Earth, she strikes back in the form of tsunamis, earthquakes, wildfires, and so on. After the humans realize how wrong they treated the planet and that the final hour is near, they regret their selfish behavior and actions from the past and try to convince Gaia by trying to take refuge in religion. But all the prayers remain unheard, and all the praise is ignored.”

“As much as I wish that the lyrics were fictional, I truly believe that we have messed up this planet big time,” he continues. “Like the lyrics say: ‘She witnessed the birth of a dying race’ - from a philosophical point of view humankind probably was supposed to behave like that and are part of a divine plan. Whatever that divinity might be.”

“‘The Forgotten’ is a song divided into three chapters. Part I and Part II can be found on The Constant Void.”

With their premiere of the song, Decibel writes, “you can definitely hear the prog metal side of their sound—complete with keyboard flourishes and strong, clear melodic vocals—but there’s an intense heaviness in their drop-tuned riff work, as well… a moody plea for mercy for Planet Earth.”

Watch PHILOSOPHOBIA’s video for “The Forgotten Part I” first at Decibel Magazine RIGHT HERE.

The Constant Void will be released July 11th on CD and through all digital services. Find preorders at The Lasers Edge label webshop HERE and Bandcamp – standard audio HERE and the hi-res audio HERE, and watch the video for the lead single “King Of Fools” HERE.

Expect a plethora of additional video content to be issued surrounding the album’s release.

PHILOSOPHOBIA was formed in 2020, with its members spread across Europe, in Germany, The Netherlands, and Greece. 2022 saw the release of their eponymous debut album, which left a huge impact in the international prog metal scene. Numerous journalists gave the album 10/10-rated reviews, as well as Album Of The Month in the French Magazine Rock Hard, multiple Album Of The Year rankings, and more.

PHILOSOPHOBIA now arrives with The Constant Void, which takes the band’s musical vision to the next level. With most of the lineup returning from the first album – guitarist Andreas Ballnus, drummer Alexander Landenburg, vocalist Domenik Papaemmanouil, and keyboardist Tobias Wergerber – the new album sees original bassist Kristoffer Gildenlöw replaced with virtuoso bass player Sebastian Heuckmann, who has been playing live with the band since 2024. With nine magnetizing tracks clocking in at almost sixty-five minutes, The Constant Void is a white-knuckled ride between progressive metal and emotional and melancholic tunes, combining the strength of the debut album with a more modern and heavier twist.

On the first album, Man Of Much Metal wrote how the band “put themselves in a very strong position to become one of the most talked about new bands within the progressive metal sphere. And rightly so!” Now, The Constant Void is the band’s proof for this statement; PHILOSOPHOBIA has come to stay in the sphere of progressive metal. Fans of Kamelot, Dream Theater, Pain Of Salvation, Threshold, Control Denied, Pharaoh, and Nevermore should have PHILOSOPHOBIA on their priority list.
