THE JOTUNN RELEASE NEW SINGLE: "THE DEPARTURE"

PRESS RELEASE:

Melodic deathcore band THE JOTUNN have released their newest single, “The Departure,” the final track on the upcoming physical edition of their album Summoner, out this Friday. The song serves as both a closing statement for this chapter of the band and a powerful step toward what comes next.

Originally introduced as a three-song release, Summoner Part I established the foundation of the band’s current era. The physical edition expands the album with Part II, which includes “Blood Flower,” the band’s cover of “Suicide Nation,” and now the intense and cinematic closer, “The Departure.”

The track was recorded in Michigan with producer Josh Wickman, known for his work with WITHIN THE RUINS, KING 810 and WAKING THE CADAVER. The result is a sharpened and fully realized version of THE JOTUNN’s sound, combining punishing heaviness with dark melody and atmosphere. The song highlights a band that has refined its identity and emerged stronger than ever.

An official video for “The Departure” was filmed by Tom Stumpf, who also worked on the band’s previous two records. The visual continues THE JOTUNN’s tradition of pairing their music with unsettling and cinematic imagery that deepens the emotional impact of their work.

Lyrically, “The Departure” explores the disturbed mind of Ed Gein, focusing on psychological horror and mental unraveling rather than glorification. The band uses the story as a narrative lens to examine darkness, instability, and inner torment, matching the song’s intense and oppressive atmosphere.

With this release, THE JOTUNN bring the Summoner era to a powerful close while signaling a new beginning. “The Departure” represents the band at its most focused and evolved, offering a glimpse of an even heavier and more ambitious future.

About THE JOTUNN:

Based out of Cleveland and Columbus Ohio, THE JOTUNN formed in 2021 after guitarist and songwriter Shawn Kahan presented a number of demos to Paul Kahan. Soon producer Cole Martinez (ABIGAIL WILLIAMS, WHITECHAPEL, ABORTED) was on board taking up the role of bassist and producer of their music. Nick Amato (ATOMIC WITCH) performed drums on the band's debut album Graveworshipper (2022), prior to Adam Biats joining the line-up. The outfit was awarded the Columbus Artist Grant in 2023, and subsequently in 2025. THE JOTUNN's EP Summoner arrived in 2024, and is set to be followed in 2025 by two cover releases and a new original track. Cole left the band in June 2025 on good terms, leading to the arrival of Leo Debevc on guitar and Londyn Hager on bass.

PROFANE ELEGY RELEASE "HEREZJARCHA"

PRESS RELEASE:

Profane Elegy

Herezjarcha

30 January 2026

Herezjarcha, the upcoming album from black metal outfit PROFANE ELEGY, is a harrowing, philosophical descent into sound and symbolism. Due for independent release on January 30th, 2026, Herezjarcha follows the band’s 2023 debut When All Is Nothing—an album that was praised for its blending of blackened fury and doom-laden atmosphere. With Herezjarcha, PROFANE ELEGY expands every element of their vision: heavier, more dynamic, more refined, and deeply introspective. It is a record built on contrasts—between the cosmic and the personal, defiance and decay, melody and obliteration.

The new album opens with "Exeunt Omnes", Latin for “all go out,” a phrase drawn from Shakespeare’s Richard III. The track sets the tone both musically and thematically: rich in orchestration, shifting between tragedy and violence, it meditates on fate and the cost of holding on to life in a world already retreating from you. From there, the listener is dropped into "Haunted", a tightly wound storm of existential dread. With mournful riffs and oppressive atmospheres, the song captures the terrifying clarity that comes from realizing your own mortality—how ignorance truly is bliss until that moment of awakening.

By contrast, "I AM" is anthemic in its defiance. The title, drawn from the book of Exodus, takes the phrase spoken by God—“I am that I am”—and transforms it into a proclamation of human rebellion. Blistering and furious, it's among the most direct and aggressive moments on the record. It’s followed by "As My Heart Turns to Ash", a doom-laden lament about emotional detachment and personal collapse. The instrumentation slows, opens up, and lets sorrow breathe. Here, the clean vocal passages begin to appear—haunting and human.

On "Immutable", the band turns philosophical. Lyrically, the song explores the inescapable traits and traumas we are born into. There is no comfort here—only a cold recognition of inherited darkness. Musically, it’s dynamic and shifting, a dance between melody and chaos. "And Then We Are Gone" takes this further, slowing to a funeral march and carried almost entirely by clean singing and droning instrumentation. It’s a stark meditation on impermanence—how everything we build can vanish in a heartbeat, and the world will carry on without pause.

The title track, "Herezjarcha", is the centerpiece—a sprawling, conceptual narrative about a man transformed by his own heresy. In visions and madness, he births a new ideology, becoming one with darkness in pursuit of hidden truths. It's as much spiritual journey as musical composition, with cinematic orchestration, shifting movements, and whispered incantations. And then, as the final nail, "The Accuser" closes the album with scorching intensity. Drawing from the Biblical role of Satan as prosecutor, the song is both indictment and rejection—placing judgment not on the damned, but on those who claim righteousness. It’s the moment the band fully embraces symbolic damnation and burns the sacred in fire.

Produced by J Gulick and mastered/mixed by Kevin Antreassian (Backroom Studios), Herezjarcha is more than an album—it’s a statement. It rejects genre purity in favor of vision. It fuses the atmospheric elements of black metal with the weight of doom, the precision of death metal, and the unexpected textures of orchestration and clean vocals. But above all, it is lyrically rich, thematic, and spiritually challenging.

Herezjarcha embodies an oath against complacency, a testament of defiance, and a new scripture of darkness. For fans of MAYHEM, WOODS OF YPRES, SWALLOW THE SUN, and EMPEREOR, this is not just an album. This is a new heresy.

About PROFANE ELEGY

PROFANE ELEGY is a black metal band from Bangor, Pennsylvania, formed in late 2021 by guitarist J Gulick and vocalist Mikael L. Originally conceived as a two-man studio project, the band quickly evolved into a full lineup with the addition of bassist David G and drummer Sean M in 2023. What sets PROFANE ELEGY apart is their refusal to remain confined within genre boundaries—while rooted firmly in black metal, their sound incorporates elements of death, doom, and progressive metal, often enhanced by orchestral arrangements and clean vocals.

The band’s debut album When All Is Nothing (2023) was released independently and drew attention for its blend of atmospheric aggression and emotional vulnerability. The release earned praise for its ability to move fluidly between blistering speed and melancholic melody, with Doom Heart calling it “a massive Doom delight.” Following the album’s release, PROFANE ELEGY made their live debut and began performing across the northeastern United States, including a notable support slot for Dark Funeral in late 2024.

Lyrically, the band explores themes of nihilism, mortality, philosophy, and religious symbolism—often invoking figures like Satan not as dogmatic statements, but as metaphors in a broader spiritual and existential dialogue. Their work is poetic, introspective, and often challenges the listener to confront uncomfortable truths about life, death, and belief.

Their upcoming full-length album Herezjarcha, set for release in January 2026, represents the band’s most ambitious and expansive work to date. With a more dynamic sound, deeper orchestration, and a clear conceptual throughline, the record pushes their sonic and thematic boundaries further than ever before. The album title—a made-up word meaning “arch-heretic”—encapsulates the spirit of the band: rebellious, introspective, and unafraid to question the sacred.

PROFANE ELEGY continues to forge a unique path within the underground metal scene. Blending bleak intensity with philosophical weight, they aim not just to be heard—but to be felt.

SKULLD formed in Romagna, Italy, in 2019 with the ambitious goal of blending old-school Swedish death metal with shamanic and esoteric overtones, all rooted in a strong feminist, anti-fascist, and anti-racist stance. Hailing from cities such as Cesena, Forlì, Bologna, Imola, and Milan, the members of the band have deep roots in the DIY punk and hardcore scene — a defining element of their artistic identity.

In 2020, they released their debut EP "Reinventing Darkness", a DIY co-production with various Italian and international labels, distributed throughout the underground network. The lineup featured Pamela (vocals), Monti and Rappo (guitars), Ciufs (bass), and Teo (drums). The songs, fast and razor-sharp, combine Scandinavian death metal with crust and stenchcore, evoking dark and pagan atmospheres. The EP was well received for its raw and original sound, as well as for its lyrical themes — most notably the track "Satanic Feminism", which explicitly ties death metal to political and gender awareness.

On March 20th, 2024, the band released their first full-length album "The Portal Is Open" via the French label World Eater Records. Recorded in Imola and mixed/mastered by Ulf Blomberg at Hobos Studio in Lund, Sweden, the album features eight tracks merging death and black metal with hardcore/crust influences and punk-infused vocals. The lyrics delve deeper into the concepts introduced on their debut, exploring pagan traditions, mythology, feminine archetypes, and esoteric and literary references.

In 2024, guitarist Moqi joined the band as a live replacement for Rappo, who had relocated to Berlin. He later became the sixth full-time member, contributing to the writing and recording of the band’s latest effort, "Abyss Calls To Abyss".

OBVURT RELEASE NEW VIDEO: "PATIENCE"

PRESS RELEASE:

OBVURT Unleash New Video “Patience” – A Testament to Resilience and Reinvention

Quebec City, Canada — Canadian death metal innovators Obvurt return with their crushing new single “Patience,” out now via Brutal Mind . Known for their boundary-pushing approach to technical death metal, Obvurt continue to redefine the genre with fresh ideas, fearless experimentation, and deeply personal songwriting.

Following the acclaim of their 2022 debut full-length Triumph Beyond Adversity ( Unique Leader Records ), and their 2025 sophomore effort An Alternate Dimension ( Brutal Mind ), the band shows no signs of slowing down. “Patience” stands as a bold example of frontman Philippe Drouin’s commitment to innovation—marking the first song he ever composed on his now-signature double-guitar .

“The writing process changed everything for me,” Drouin explains. “The double-guitar opened a whole new dimension of sound. No chugs, no tremolos—only hammer-ons and pull-offs. It forced me to rethink what brutal riffs could be.”

Obvurt have built their reputation not only on their ferocious musicianship but also on their spirit of resilience. After releasing their debut EP The Beginning in 2021, the band made headlines for performing an unorthodox set in front of an elementary school class where Drouin once worked as a teacher. Since then, they’ve endured lineup changes and challenges, but emerged stronger than ever with their current lineup:

Philippe Drouin - Guitars

Enzo Roussel - Bass

Michel Gagné Bouchard (Mitch) - Drummer

Drawing inspiration from icons like Decapitated, Suffocation, and Dying Fetus , Obvurt continue to carve their own identity in the death metal underground. Drouin’s personal journey—relearning guitar left-handed after injury, and adapting his technique to the radical double-guitar—is woven directly into the DNA of “Patience.”

The song embodies both struggle and endurance, channeling the very perseverance that defines Obvurt’s path. Fans got an early taste of this spirit with the recent single “Hold On To Hope,” inspired by Jason Becker’s resilience in the face of ALS. “Patience” takes that same ethos of survival and determination and pushes it into heavier, more brutal terrain.

With “Patience” and An Alternate Dimension , Obvurt prove that death metal can be more than brutality for brutality’s sake—it can be a canvas for meaning, innovation, and unbreakable will.

Listen to “Patience” now via Brutal Mind and prepare to experience Obvurt in an entirely new dimension.

GORRCH RELEASE "STILLAMENTUM"

PRESS RELEASE:

Gorrch

Stillamentum

Label: Avantgarde Music

Release date: January 30th, 2026.

Formats: CD / LP / Digital

Country: Italy

Genre: black metal

Hailing from Northeastern Italy, Gorrch formed in 2010 as a duo composed of brothers Droich (guitars, bass) and Chimsicrin (drums, vocals, keyboards). Over the years, Gorrch carved their niche in the Italian underground with a singular, uncompromising vision of black metal — from the feral intensity of their 2013 self-titled EP and the 2015 full-length 'Nera Estasi', to the more experimental, dissonant, and atmospheric textures of their 2020 EP 'Introvertere'.

Rare live performances and an aura of mystery — not least the vocal-masked front presence of Chimsicrin — have helped Gorrch build a cult following among the followers of extreme, chaotic black metal.

Produced by Andrea Petucco (Ad Nauseam), 'Stillamentum' marks Gorrch’s long-awaited return, as well as the first collaboration between the duo and Avantgarde Music. 'Stillamentum' is a full-length album steeped in claustrophobic intensity, dissonant chord structures, and relentless sonic tension. From punishing tremolo riffs and blasting drumming to cavernous production that evokes suffocating atmospheres, the record channels the band’s obsession with sound as ritual and catharsis. Gorrch push further into darkness with an unwavering commitment to raw emotion and existential dread, crafting a labyrinth of shadows and pain.

Avantgarde Music will release 'Stillamentum' on CD, LP, and digital on January 30th, 2026.

WITCHER RELEASE VIDEO FOR "ÖRÖKLET"

PRESS RELEASE:

WitcheR’s history started back in 2010. The band was formed by Gere Karola (synths, vocal) and Neubauer Roland (guitars, drums, vocal) in order to perform atmospheric black metal music based on classical music elements and strong synths harmonies. From the very beginning, catchy melodies and elevated mood took important parts in the music. The lyrics are mostly about witchcraft, Hungarian folklore, adherence to old values, and the maximum opposition to the modern world.

New album "Öröklét" was released November 4, 2025 on CD and tape via Filosofem Records (pre-order), on vinyl via Beveria Productions (pre-order) and popular streaming platforms (Bandcamp, Spotify, Amazon, Apple, Deezer, Tidal). Cover artwork was done by Grafit & Hamu Artworks.

The third video clip by WitcheR has been released, created for the title track of their fourth full-length album, "Öröklét (Eternity)".

The work is not only a musical piece but also a visual special feature, as the clip was created over the course of an entire year and evokes the ancient rituals of pagan witches.

“We didn’t just want to make a video clip, we wanted to experience the entire year in the spirit of the song.” — WitcheR comments.

The freshly released video further deepens WitcheR’s dark, mystical universe, where music, nature, and ancient traditions form an organic unity. The rituals appearing in the clip are rooted in pagan ceremonies tied to solstices, witch traditions, and the cycles of nature.

The long, year-long creative process made it possible for the video not only to tell a story, but also to convey time and cyclicality, and even to document the changing of the seasons.

“This song and this video are about time. About how everything returns, and nothing passes without leaving a trace.”
