SHADOWSPAWN RELEASE TITLE TRACK FROM NEW ALBUM: "CADAVER DOGS"

PRESS RELEASE:

Shadowspawn hails from the greater Copenhagen area in Denmark and has existed since 2013. They released several critically acclaimed records ("Ashes of Sorrow" (EP, 2015), "Hope Lies Dormant" (2017), "The Biology of Disbelief" (2021), "Blasphemica" (2023))  and established themselves as a powerful force on the Danish metal scene. They are known for their uncompromising blend of groove, black, and old-school death metal, Shadowspawn masterfully balances brutality, heaviness, and technicality!

After 3 years, now Danish band is preparing for releasing 4th studio album!

With "Cadaver Dogs", Shadowspawn unleash a landmark album that both expands the band’s musical horizons and cements their ability to craft a cohesive sound where groove and darkness go hand in hand with crushing intensity.

Bue Jensen comments: "We’re back with a truly killer, thoroughly crafted record, and we’re proud and excited to present it to our fans! We’ve created a narrative about

the insane world we see around us, where power-hungry dictators and religion set an agenda built on fear, murder, and oppression. In other words, human carrion feeders who exploit everything they possibly can!".

The material for the new album was recorded at Corpsekennel Spawncamp. All was mixed & mastered by Kelvin Dam. Cover artwork was designed by Swedish artist Henry Pyykkö, and the layout was created by Jess Larsen. Album will be released on February 20, 2026 in digital format and CD by Polish label Via Nocturna (pre-order).

In April this year, Shadowspawn will go on tour across Denmark together with Defacing God (symphonic black/gothic) and Maceration (death). More info at Metalized Tour Fanpage.

DEICIDE

The classic that you can not miss in any festival. Deicide comes to the Brutal Assault Festival with a line-up that features along frontman Glen Benton and original drummer Steve Asheim, the new guitarist Jadran "Conan" Gonzalez (Bonded by Blood, Exmortus) who entered the band in 2025. It also features guitarist Taylor Nordberg (Eye of Purgatory, Goregäng) who is in the band since 2022. Deicide´s most recent studio album is "Banished by Sin" from 2024 and in 2025 they released a Box set, "Children of the Underworld" featuring their first eight albums.

CRYPTOPSY

If you want brutality then you can´t miss Cryptopsy. Technical skills combined with pure aggression is the band´s trademark. They will take the Brutal Assault with full speed, guttural vocals and crushing riffs. The band will present their latest album "An Insatiable Violence" released in 2025 and their new single "Blasphemy Made Fresh". Moshpits will for sure essential on Cryptopsy´s show at the Brutal Assault Fest along with circle pits and also a good wall of death

GRAVE

Coming directly from Sweden this classic death metal band is an essential part of that country´s metal history. Contrasting with more melodic bands that surfaced in the early 1990s the band focused more on crushing riffs and pure aggression. It has been more than a decade since the band released their latest album "Out for Respect for the Dead" and 35 years since the release of their debut album "Into the Grave" so we know we can expect some brutal surprises in this year´s show on the Brutal Assault.

INTERNAL BLEEDING

Coming directly from Long Island, New York, Internal Bleeding will unleash all their brutality on the Brutal Assault 2026. This band combines fast riffs with a huge guitar sound with breakdowns and rhythms designed for the moshpit. The band released their first album "Voracious Contempt" in 1995. Their latest album is "Settle All Scores" from 2025 that will be the one they will present in the Brutal Assault Fest this year.

SADISTIC INTENT

This underrated band is a legend in the underground. And you can not miss them this year on the Brutal Assault Fest. They released thei first demos on the late 1980s and their first EP, "Impending Doom" is from 1990. The band has since released many singles and EPs, unleashing pure aggression on each track. The band has not released new music since their split with Pentacle from 2016 and their EP "Reawakening Horrid Thoughts" from 2014 so maybe there will be some surprises on their live show.

ØVI RELEASE "HEDERA HELIX"

PRESS RELEASE:

ØVI returns in 2026 with Hedera Helix, a four-track EP forged in Los Angeles and shaped by confrontation, mythology, and psychological excavation. Running 15 minutes and 28 seconds, the record coils tightly around themes of parasitism, power, identity, and reclamation. Named after the ivy plant known for invasive growth and relentless persistence, Hedera Helix mirrors that natural force. The music spreads deliberately, grips firmly, and reshapes whatever it climbs.

Formed in 2018 by Michael Nolasco and Zed Amarin and later completed by Kevin McCombs and Brendan Collins, ØVI emerged from the Los Angeles metal underground with a clear creative vision. Their 2024 debut single “Crucifixation” introduced a sound defined by cinematic scope, technical precision, and layered intensity. With Hedera Helix, the band deepens that identity, incorporating sharper electronic textures, denser rhythmic architecture, and a more focused conceptual throughline.

The EP opens with “Lilith,” a venom-laced meditation on seduction and emotional entanglement. Drawing from the symbolism of poison ivy, the track examines attraction intertwined with suffocation. The guitars cut with intent while atmospheric layers pulse beneath, reflecting the moment when clarity rises from emotional chaos. The song captures recognition, restraint, and the decisive act of severing what corrodes from within.

“Penanggalan” pulls from Southeast Asian folklore. The myth of the detached, feeding spirit becomes a metaphor for social and emotional parasitism. The arrangement tightens into suffocating tension before bursting outward in a surge of controlled aggression. Every riff feels like resistance. Every rhythmic shift signals release. The track embodies the refusal to carry the weight of those who drain ambition and vitality.

“Prometheon” channels mythic fire into disciplined will. Inspired by the symbolism of creation through flame, the song reframes adversity as fuel. Lines such as “self-righteous apostle, throw them to the fire, they will burn / dissolving divination, consuming for creation, solve et coagula” elevate judgment into transformation. The production expands in scope, fusing cinematic layering with tightly engineered percussion. The result feels expansive yet focused, a study in turning pressure into propulsion.

The closing track, “Absolve,” carries the EP toward transcendence. The refrain “Absolve. Rectify. Solidify.” functions as ritual language, a mantra that reinforces forward motion. Guitars surge with urgency while the rhythmic backbone drives steadily ahead. The ivy metaphor completes its arc here, symbolizing renewal through growth and the deliberate rebuilding of structure.

Produced, engineered, and mixed by ØVI at The Steakhouse Studio and mastered by Nick Townsend, Hedera Helix stands as a fully independent release. The EP is digital at launch, reinforcing the band’s autonomy and control over its evolving audiovisual world. Artwork by Rudi Yanto complements the sonic themes, drawing from occult symbolism and post human aesthetics that echo the record’s fixation on transformation and duality.

Influenced by the cinematic extremity of NE OBLIVISCARIS, the crushing force of GOJIRA, the symphonic darkness of DIMMU BORGIR, and the industrial edge of NINE INCH NAILS, ØVI blends atmosphere and aggression into a cohesive narrative experience. The band approaches metal as structured storytelling, where every dynamic shift serves the emotional arc.

With Hedera Helix, ØVI sharpens its purpose. The EP captures anger directed with precision, willpower exercised with discipline, and growth achieved through confrontation. The ivy climbs. The structure changes. The transformation holds.

About ØVI:

Influenced by NEOBLIVISCARIS, GOJIRA, DIMMU BORGIR, and NINE INCH NAILS, ØVI builds a sound that blends cinematic heaviness with electronic elements, evolving harmonic layers, and dynamic rhythmic structures. The result is an immersive, modern metal experience that balances aggression with emotion, density with clarity. At its core, ØVI approaches metal as a narrative medium, using sound to explore power, guilt, and identity. Hedera Helix stands as both confrontation and metamorphosis, music that refuses to fade quietly, instead clawing toward self-definition and growth.

BRUTAL ASSAULT 2026: 4 THRASH METAL BANDS YOU CAN´T MISS

The Brutal Assault 2026 Festival will feature over 140 bands. All metal styles will be represented there, from classic heavy metal to grindcore and everything in between. Death metal, black metal, thrash metal, metalcore, everything will be on the Festival. And we can recommend you some bands that you can´t miss. Some of them are classic, some of them are underrated.

DEMOLITION HAMMER

This band from New York, formed in 1987 can be characterized by a brutal sound that has evolved throughout the years adding some groove metal and death metal elements to their original sound. The band has released three albums that are classics of the style: "Tortured Existence" from 1990, "Epidemic of Violence" from 1992 and "Time Bomb" from 1994. After the third album the band broke up from 1995 to 2016 before reuniting. Since then, they have not released a new studio album. Their most recent line-up feature three classic members: Steve Reynolds on bass and vocals; James Reilly on guitars and Derek Sykes on guitars. Plus, they have added Angel Cotte on drums. You can´t miss this band if you are into intense and aggressive thrash metal.

VIO-LENCE

Another really underrated band with killer musicianship and total power. Maybe you have listened about the band because it featured Machine Head´s Robb Flynn in their classic era. It has also featured Phil Demmel on guitars who plays in Kerry King´s band and also on Metal Allegiance. Besides he has played and toured with Overkill, Lamb of God and Testament among others. Vio-lence has released three classic albums: "Torture Tactics" in 1988, "Oppressing the Masses" in 1990 and "Nothing to Gain" in 1993. The band went on a long hiatus after the third album and they reunited a couple of times before their more prolonged reunion that started in 2019. Since then they have released the EP "Let The World Burn" from 2022 and also a demo compilations in 2023. Their line-up only features Sean Killian on vocals from their classic era and they have added Ira Black on guitars and vocals who playd with Lizzy Borden, Vicious Rumors and Dio Disciples among others; Nick Souza on drums; Jeff Salgado on Bass and Claudeous Creamer on guitars who has played with Possessed, Sadus and Dragonlord. We strongly recommend to not miss these guys on the Brutal Assault Fest.

 METAL CHURCH

A classic thrash metal band that has been around since 1980. The band has released incredible thrash and power metal albums throughout all its history. The band features only original member Kurdt Vanderhoof on guitars and long time guitarist Rick Van Zandt who has been on the band since 2008. Besides, Metal Church has a killer rhythm section featuring former Megadeth bassist David Ellefson and Flotsam and Jetsam, Fifth Angel drummer, Ken Mary. Plus the band will be on the Brutal Assault presenting their new vocalist Brian Allen who is in the band since 2025 and is replacing the charismatic Mike Howe who passed away in 2021.

MORTAL SIN

Coming from Australia this is another truly underrated band that is an essential part of metal history in Oceania. Formed in 1985 the band has released classic thrash metal albums such as "Face of Despair" from 1989 and "Every Dog Has It´s Day" from 1991. After some break ups and reunions the band is back since 2025 featuring original members Andy Eftichiou on bass and Mat Maurer on vocals. This line-up also features longtime members Nathan Shea and Ryan Huthnance on guitars. Plus they are welcoming drummer George Delinicolis who has played in Bastardizer and Bane of Isildur. The band´s latest album is "Psychology of Death" from 2011 so maybe we can expect some new music from them.

HEIDEN TO RELEASE "TEMNOPLODEC"

PRESS RELEASE:

HEIDEN, the Czech progressive black metal band, announce their tenth full-length album, Cma, set for release on 24 April 2026 via EPIDEMIE Records. Available in digital, CD, and vinyl formats, the album marks a continuation of the journey begun with 2022’s acclaimed Andzjel.

The first single and official music video, “Temnoplodec”, is out now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DE0wO5wXZwY

Three years after the acclaimed album Andzjel, HEIDEN return with their tenth full-length release, Cma. The album is a direct continuation of the previous chapter, yet one that dives even deeper into darkness. Once again, HEIDEN’s music flows through the landscape of the Carpathian Mountains — not as a backdrop, but as an inner terrain where memory, guilt, and fear merge into a single current. Across nine tracks, Cma rises from silence and ashes, from images of remote mountain villages where time has come to a standstill, and from human stories in which borders no longer began in the land itself, but within people. Clean, hypnotic riffs and an urgent vocal delivery create a sense of inescapable tension — like a nocturnal flight through a landscape that no longer offers shelter.

Emerging from the black metal underground more than twenty years ago, HEIDEN have never allowed themselves to be confined by genre boundaries. Their music has always been rooted in place, language, and personal experience, remaining open to experimentation and silence alike. Cma continues this path with unprecedented intensity. This is not an album that offers catharsis, strength, or comfort. It is a record of brooding reflection, heavy sorrow, and quiet dread, born from stories of the borderlands of occupied Czechoslovakia, where humanity slowly eroded under the pressure of fear and hatred. It does not seek to overwhelm the listener — instead, it draws them into a state of melancholy where the past continually resurfaces. Darkness here is not an effect, but an inseparable part of the human condition. Cma stands as the darkest album in HEIDEN’s history — and one of their most honest.

Tracklist

Odmítám zítřek (I Refuse Tomorrow)

Temnoplodec (Darkbearer)

Vodě (To The Water)

Rozsudek (Verdict)

Bílý had (White Serpent)

Stěna (The Wall)

Snažím se najít srdce (I Strive To Find A Heart)

Svědek (The Witness)

Poslední (The Last One)

All songs were originally composed and recorded by Heiden, all lyrics were written by kverd. Bass parts were composed and recorded by the band’s close friend Murky. All tracks except the bass and key were tracked during spring – beginning of summer 2025 in SHAARK recording studio, engineered by Pavel Hlavica and Petr Nejezchleba. Bass was tracked in Murky’s home studio, keys were recorded in Niche home studio & engineered by kverd, both during the same period. The album was mixed and mastered by Karl Daniel Lidén in Tri-Lamb studio during July 2025. Album cover photo was arranged and taken by Jan Škop during photo session with Jakub König. For artwork used with kind permission of the author. The band photo was taken by Tom. Ink graphics used on a cover were drawn by kverd. Design and layout of the cover was made by kverd.

Band History:

Formed in 2003 by Kverd and Varnag, HEIDEN began as a pagan black metal project rooted in the Carpathians. The band has evolved while maintaining a dark, uncompromising core:

Dolores (2011) and A kdybys už nebyla, vymyslím si tě (2013) established HEIDEN as a respected underground name.

Experimental releases in 2015 and 2019 deepened the band’s sonic and emotional range.

Andzjel (2022) explored the White Carpathians and the tragic legacy of the Žítková goddesses.

With Cma, HEIDEN delivers a darker, heavier, and more oppressive album, pushing their post-black metal vision to its most uncompromising form.

Line-up:

Einsk – drums

Tom – guitars

Werlinga – keys

kverd – vocals, guitar

Single "Speed Demon" features drummer extraordinaire Mike Heller (Raven, Control/Resist, Malignancy, formerly of Fear Factory). "Til Death do us Party" was mastered at Abbey Road Studios in 2023 by legendary engineer Sean Magee.

Hellgrimm played at the Whisky in Hollywood on September 19th, supporting Bitch and Angeles. Hellgrimm played several shows around Texas in 2024 in support of their new album.

Hellgrimm released its first full-length album, "The Hunger," in June 2021, and three EPs; the self-titled debut (March 2019), “Elysium” (February 2020) and "Hellgrimm: Live" (March 2021).

Hellgrimm has three songs (including the main theme) for the upcoming TV series "Lowie Mortem: Chronicles of a Dead Detective," written by J. Rene Munz, to be directed by George Ortiz (release date TBA). Hellgrimm also has four songs in the soundtrack of the film "Darkness Strain," directed by Abraham Takatsuki  (April 2025).

Hellgrimm is sponsored by EMG Pickups, Morley Pedals, Lang Amps, Busuyi Guitars, Soultone Cymbals, Collision Drum Sticks, Koffin Krew Apparel and Bunny's Wonderland Designs.

Writer/guitarist Jerry Connor began his music obsession in his teens on South Padre Island, Texas. After years of playing in local bands, his world turned upside down when a fateful accident almost cost him his left hand and his life. Following two major surgeries, many doctors told him he would never play guitar again. Undeterred, Jerry studied music theory and composition at the University of Texas Pan American in hopes of becoming a composer.

Jerry rehabilitated his hand through years of relentless practice and was able to play guitar once again, moving around the country to work with national acts. In 2002, he landed in San Antonio, Texas, and began writing the music that would conjure the band Hellgrimm.

Drummer/vocalist/studio bassist Erica Missey fell in love with live music as a child while watching her grandfather and uncle play guitar in their family-owned bar and get-togethers. She started playing trumpet when she was eleven and enjoyed playing through high school and early into university.

After years of concentrating on her art career (animation credits include “Space Jam” and “The Prince of Egypt"), Erica returned to making music as a bass player. She met Jerry Connor in 2002 and joined him to form the band Monkeysoop. After years of playing bass and finding her voice, Erica switched to drums in 2010 and became the primary singer when Hellgrimm was conceived in 2018. Erica creates the artwork for Hellgrimm's albums and graphics through her art business, Ericatures.

In February 2026, Hellgrimm will be heading to Spain to tour with NWOBHM Giants SATAN for a 4- shows:

February 19 - Barcelona - Razzmatazz 3

February 20 - Valencia - Sala Zulu

February 21 - Madrid - Sala Silikona

February 22 - Portugalete - Sala Groove

More tours and shows will be added.

SEEPING PROTOPLASM TO RELEASE "REPUGNANT ENTANGLEMENT"

PRESS RELEASE:

SEEPING PROTOPLASM (JAPAN) SET TO SECRETE ‘REPUGNANT ENTANGLEMENT’ MARCH 13TH – LOSE YOUR HEAD AND STREAM SINGLE ‘TEMPORARILY BEHEADED’ NOW!

Hailing from Tokyo, SEEPING PROTOPLASM continue the tradition of Japan’s brutal death metal scene, delivering eight putrid tracks that fluidly combine the raw, crushing intensity of late ’90s death metal with grind, slam, and experimental influences. 'Repugnant Entanglement' is set for release on CD via Iron Fortress Records, tape via Headsplit Records, and vinyl via Sewer Stench Records.

Streaming now, the manic single 'Temporarily Beheaded' tears through frenzied chaos as serrated riffs and battering drums convulse violently together, while guttural vocals gurgle like writhing intestines. Midway, the track abruptly voids its guts, excreting a filth-caked groove as viscous bass churns out unsettling textures, before snapping back into the unpredictable and frantic attack of the song's opening.

Carving their name in the brutal death metal scene since 2022, SEEPING PROTOPLASM began with their demo 'Profound Torment', followed by their 2023 debut full-length 'Exhale Extinction' on Headsplit Records and subsequent split EPs with Rottenness and Nyctophagia, as well as a 2025 promo cassette featuring three tracks destined for their sophomore album. Known for relentless live shows, the band has shared stages with acts such as Toxic Holocaust, Cryptic Shift, and Gut Explosion, performing internationally, and appearing twice at Asakusa Deathfest.

'Repugnant Entanglement' was recorded, mixed, and mastered in the bowels of Void)))Lab by Inari Ryuhi. The artwork, created by Natsumi de Dianous, mirrors the album’s bizarre brutality, with the bands logo by Epul Rickard and photography by Inari Ryuhi and Mácarena GP.
