Formed in 2008, Nefastis is an Italian Symphonic Death Metal band known for its strong conceptual approach and continuously evolving musical identity. From the very beginning, the band focused on original compositions, gradually shaping a sound that blends extreme metal intensity with orchestral depth and progressive structures.

Nefastis made their recording debut in 2014 with "De Diebus Fastis, Nefastis, Infaustis", a thrash/death metal concept album divided into four acts and conceived as a narrative work. The release earned the band recognition within the underground scene and led them to share the stage with internationally renowned acts such as Toxik, Leprous, Hirax, Onkel Tom Angelripper, and Bonded By Blood.

Following the debut, lineup changes forced the band into a hiatus. During this period, Nefastis underwent a significant artistic transformation, redefining their sound and expanding their compositional vision. Moving away from a more direct thrash-oriented approach, the band embraced a broader and more cinematic form of symphonic death metal, characterized by orchestral arrangements, progressive songwriting, and a strong narrative dimension.

This evolution fully materializes in "Shadows At The Light Of Dawn", a four-act concept album set in a post-apocalyptic world and conceived as a continuous and immersive listening experience. Each act is introduced by an instrumental piece that establishes the atmosphere of the chapter, guiding the listener through a cohesive musical and emotional journey. The album was produced by the band, mixed by Frank Altare, and mastered by Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios (Angra, Amorphis, Kreator, Dimmu Borgir, Opeth, Powerwolf).

With "Shadows At The Light Of Dawn", Nefastis reaffirm their commitment to ambitious songwriting and genre-crossing composition, merging death metal, orchestral music, and progressive influences into a unified and expressive soundscape.

Hailing from the heart of Finland, the masters of melodic death metal, Noumena, are making their long-awaited return. Their new single, "Kuolemankello" (The Deathwatch Beetle), is an intense, atmospheric, and catchy strike that sets the stage for the band’s upcoming seventh studio album.

After a period of silence dedicated to honing their craft, Noumena has returned with a refined sound that captures the band's core essence: a unique blend of Northern melancholy and relentless energy. Composer and guitarist Tuukka Tuomela is thrilled with the result:

"Kuolemankello" continues Noumena’s tradition of powerful storytelling. The track dives deep into 18th-century Finland, specifically the era known as The Great Wrath (isoviha in Finnish) – a brutal period of Russian occupation marked by widespread atrocities and historical suffering. The song’s title refers to the "Deathwatch Beetle," a wood-boring insect whose ticking sound was historically seen as an omen of impending death. Lyricist Hannu Savolainen sheds light on the dark theme:

"In folklore, the 'Kuolemankello' has been seen as an omen of death. In this story, the beetle ticking inside the wooden walls warns of a grim fate. The song is set during the savage era of The Great Wrath in 1700s Finland. However, even in this mournful tale, there is a small glimmer of hope, as is often the case in Noumena’s songs."

The single offers a first taste of Noumena’s seventh album, scheduled for release in August. The long-standing veterans of the Finnish metal scene prove they are as formidable as ever – the clock is ticking, and Noumena’s time is now.

Gutter dwellin' rock n roll from Baltimore, MD!

Formed in 2018 by members of Nux Vomica, Deathammer, and Raw Filth who wanted to strike a sound somewhere between their love of 80’s metal and rock n roll swagger with punk grit. Months of gigging and developing their style led them to comparisons with classic bands straddling those same lines such as Motörhead and Venom, with their self released demo in 2019.

After some lineup changes and higher profile gigs opening for BAT, Poison Ruin, and a spot on Maryland Deathfest, they released their self-titled full length in 2022. Total Maniac sets apart from their contemporaries by authentically not giving a fuck about fitting into a narrow box.

Deathcore Ensemble SARCOMA Present Video For "Sucio Carbón"

The ferocious thrash infused "Sucio Carbón", that translates to "Filthy Coal", is the newest offering from Ecuador's SARCOMA. Descending into a plethora of extreme styles, the initial intensity of the track soon leads into the realms of death and grind before reaching an obliterating end. SARCOMA's forthcoming full-length album is set to arrive later in 2026. 

"Sucio Carbón" addresses the destructive and damaging impact of consumerism in Latin America. The lyrics of the song are written "about how millions of lives are turned hollow by the intoxicating effect of materialism and greed, and how they cast a veil of fog on our reason, in favor of collecting junk and soon to be junk. There’s metaphorical instances of drowning in a sandglass and being willfully thrown into slave labor in an office, painting a tumultuous picture of consumerism delirium."

Amidst the thundering heaviness, brutal gutturals and engrossing arrangements, SARCOMA include a number of audio samples across their tracks. "Sucio Carbón" is no different, featuring a clip taken from the “Planet of the Apes” film, 1968.

"Sucio Carbón" was produced by Juan Pablo Flores and recorded at Valley of the Death recording studio. The single was mixed and mastered by Juan Pablo Rivas. 

About SARCOMA:

SARCOMA is the first Spanish-language deathcore band in the world. Formed in Quito, Ecuador, in 2006, the quartet launched their debut EP Silenciosa Tortura independently that same year. 2016 brought a hiatus until seven years later, in 2023, original members Santiago Romero and Juan Pablo Flores returned to write new music, now joined by Andrés Jaramo (drums) and Andrés Éguez (bass). 

During SARCOMA's first incarnation, following the first EP, the band released the debut, self-titled full-length album in 2008 with the Esclavitud del Siglo XXI EP arriving in 2013. The band embarked on a heavy national and international touring schedule in neighboring countries. 

SARCOMA's unmistakable style, technical precision, and impressive live performances led them to be considered, by the media and the public alike, as the undisputed "fathers of deathcore" in South America. In early-mid noughties, the band's unique mix of hardcore and death metal elements was something unheard of in the country at the time.

The band's sound draws influence from the likes of DECAPITATED, DYING FETUS, KNOCKED LOOSE, SEPULTURA, DESPISED ICON, GOJIRA, with the addition of progressive elements and a thematic focus on their life experiences and environment of Latin America.

2023 saw the band return with renewed vigor and intent unleashing the EP Mesak, the live releases Al Rojo Vivo and En Vivo En Quito in 2024, and "Divino Poder" single in 2025, all via Valley of the Death. SARCOMA wasted no time returning to the live stage in 2023 venturing on the Mesak Ecuador National Tour, along with performances at Mechanimal Fest and Quitofest.

Profound Lore Records unveils On The Promise Of The Moon, the writhing second album from atmospheric death metal collective REEKING AURA, formed by current/former members of Grey Skies Fallen, Buckshot Facelift, Thætas, Afterbirth, Trog, Artificial Brain, and many others.

While its members are all longtime veterans of the New York City/New Jersey underground, REEKING AURA is far from a side project. This group’s encompassing sound is equal parts captivatingly immersive and utterly devastating, infusing technicality with infectious melodies and curious tones into their thundering foundation of East Coast brutal death metal. The band began in 2019 and promptly recorded their debut EP, Beneath The Canopy Of Compost, and debut album, Blood And Bonemeal, both with Colin Marston in Queens, NYC, followed by the succinctly savage Fires In Deep Frost EP in February of 2025. In addition to playing gigs around the greater New York City/North New Jersey area supporting Malevolent Creation, Horrendous, Crypt Sermon, and Mortician, they have toured the Northeast and Southeast US with Replicant, Atoll, Pyrexia, Hath, Animals Killing People, False Gods, and Carrion Vael.

With their formidable presence now well-known far beyond their hometown region, REEKING AURA now arrives with their monstrous second album On The Promise Of The Moon. Returning from the first album are guitarists Terrell Grannum (Thaetas), and Rick Habeeb (Grey Skies Fallen, Buckshot Facelift) as well as vocalist William Smith (Afterbirth, Buckshot Facelift, ex-Artificial Brain). Drummer Hudson Barth (Trog) and bassist TJ Coon (Trog, Sentient Horror) round-out the lineup, and bring fresh blood to the band, with all members having contributed to the writing process of the new record.

Tracked at OK Recording Studios in Kinderhook, New York, mixed and mastered by the legendary Dan Swanö (Bloodbath, Edge Of Sanity, Grey Skies Fallen), and completed with cover art by premier Moldova painter Ion Carchelan, On The Promise Of The Moon builds on the REEKING AURA sound with an ominous, melodic atmosphere that does not compromise their brutal, guttural New York death metal roots. The album also features contributions from guest vocalists Eston Browne (Vulnificus) and Jon Berg (The Path), as well as string arrangements by Ben Karas (Slaughtersun).

With the album’s lead single, vocalist Will Smith reveals, “Lyrically, ‘What Only Worms Witness’ is a contrasting depiction of both the ugliness of physical death and the melancholy optimism of enduring legacy. Like many songs on the album, it reflects on grudges, the passing of time and paying homage to the deceased. Writing for this song was spearheaded by bassist TJ Coon, showcasing REEKING AURA's dedication to brutal New York death metal combined with dark melodies and atmosphere."
