NUMENTO RELEASE NEW TRACK: "ONE WITH THE VOID"

 

PRESS RELEASE:

“One With The Void” is a metaphorical portrayal of a painful death, through which Numento, a Finnish progressive melodeath band, briefly returns to its older musical roots. The story behind the song draws inspiration from a particularly sinister and fascinating natural phenomenon: the fungus Ophiocordyceps unilateralis, better known as the zombie-ant fungus, which infects carpenter ants. The fungus takes complete control of its host, manipulates its behavior, and forces the ant to climb high into vegetation before its inevitable end.

Appropriately for its subject matter, the song moves through agonizingly oppressive atmospheres, twisting in pain before an unavoidable dark death — only for the cycle of infection to start again, over and over. The phenomenon and narrative can also be seen as reflections of human behavioral patterns, particularly in the worlds of crime, manipulation and cults.

ULTHIMA RELEASE NEW SINGLE: "WHITE RAVEN"

Approach of the long awaited second album release of epic melodeath ambassador Ulthima is being announced with an opening single “White Raven”. From Monterrey Mexico, to Helsinki Finland, the band came to be known in the Finnish metal scene with their Debut album “Symphony of the Night” in 2021, and is set to release their second full album in the autumn of 2026.

"White Raven" explores the journey from fearing death to accepting it as a natural part of existence. Guided by the symbol of the White Raven, the song blends mythological imagery and reflection on mortality, portraying death not as an end, but as a passage into eternity.

The guitarist and composer Ric tells about the song: “White raven is one of the last songs I wrote for this album. It's one of those that come out of nowhere with just one small riff and rapidly developed in a full length song. It always felt very organic while it was put together and definitely one of the best ones in the album. 

Lyric wise I wanted a deep topic for it. While it is a bit cliche talking about death and all that, I felt it was a fitting for this song as it is something we can all relate to.

With this album, we set out to sharpen and define our identity as a band. Instead of pursuing a polished, overly perfected production, we embraced a rawer and more organic sound that captures the intensity and spirit of our music. We wanted the album to feel alive—heavy, aggressive, and honest—while preserving the human element that often gets lost in modern productions. The result is our most authentic release to date, a record that reflects who we are as musicians and delivers our vision with power, atmosphere, and conviction."

Ulthima is a band that originated back in 2010 in Monterrey Mexico, the band went on hiatus until 2018 in Helsinki Finland. Where the band finally consolidated its members and finished their first full length album Symphony of the Night. In mid 2024 the band started the recording of their second full length album Midnight's Call, which will be released in the fall of 2026.

Saskatoon’s PYTHONIC Unleash New EP “Laws of Karma” Out July 2026 - New single out

Pythonic erupt with their second single, “Set You Free,” a vicious, groove‑driven assault that challenges religious corruption and hypocrisy with unflinching aggression. Following the May release of their first single, “Sentience,” the band now doubles down on heaviness, message, and momentum as they prepare to unleash their third EP, “Laws of Karma,” on July 10th, 2026.

​​“Set You Free” has long been a staple of Pythonic’s live set, a track that consistently ignites pits, commands movement, and showcases the band’s sharpened direction. “Time-Swayed Cities” explores the experience of temporal displacement, the feeling of existing out of sync with the age surrounding you. Throughout the song, modern cityscapes fracture into visions of forgotten eras, future technologies, horse-drawn carriages, collapsing architecture, and shifting reflections of worlds that no longer, or perhaps never did, exist.

Rather than presenting time as linear, the track portrays it as unstable and hostile: a reality where streets bend, buildings recoil, and entire civilizations seem to flicker in and out of view. The lyrics follow a figure unable to locate “their” time, caught between nostalgia, futurism, and the alienation of contemporary life.

Rather than presenting a single storyline, the album unfolds as a gallery of portraits, each song a self-contained study of a mind caught in its own distortions. The voices here are contradictory, volatile, and human: a nostalgia that grieves for something that never happened, a city dweller unable to recognise the time they live in, a cynic who tears down without ever building, a figure convinced that change can only be granted by others. Together, they form a mosaic of inner worlds — intimate, strange, and often unsettling.

Musically, the record ranges from the precision and velocity of technical black metal to the earthbound weight of doom, the ethereal scope of post-metal, and the stark beauty of choral arrangements. Every shift in style is in service of the narrative, moving seamlessly from moments of brute force to passages of stillness and introspection. HASEROT RELEASE NEW SINGLE: "CURSE OF HASEROT" FEAT JAMES MURPHY & ANDY LAROCQUE

Houston, Texas death metal band Haserot have unveiled Curse of Haserot, the third single from their upcoming debut full-length album, Advent of Suffering.

Named after the band itself, Curse of Haserot emerged from a collaborative writing process and serves as one of the album's defining moments. Built upon riffs inspired by classic acts such as Celtic Frost and Morbid Angel, the track combines crushing mid-tempo heaviness with a dark and memorable atmosphere. Lyrically, the song explores the pursuit of salvation through misguided means, ultimately ending in negation and cold oblivion despite one's best intentions.

The song also features special guest appearances from legendary guitarists James Murphy (Death, Obituary, Testament) and Andy LaRocque (King Diamond), who trade solos with Haserot guitarist Maurice Eggenschwiler during the track's extended finale. Originally conceived as a musical call-and-response inspired by the band's admiration for the lead work found on classic releases from Death, Obituary, and King Diamond, the collaboration evolved into one of the album's standout moments.

"Having both James Murphy and Andy LaRocque contribute to the same song was surreal," says Eggenschwiler. "We're huge fans of their work, and hearing their unique styles interact with the music was something we never imagined when writing the track. Andy's solo ultimately became the final thing you hear on the album, which felt like the perfect way to close the record."

Melodic Death/Thrash Metal Project Completes the Anti-Life Equation Saga With Its Most Ambitious Release Yet

June 12, 2026 marks the arrival of BalashToth's highly anticipated debut full-length album, Equation II: The Antithesis of Life and Free Will , a powerful and thought-provoking journey through melodic death metal, thrash, and existential reflection.

For fans of At the Gates, Dimension Zero, The Haunted, Carcass, and Dismember , Equation II: The Antithesis of Life and Free Will delivers a relentless blend of aggression, melody, atmosphere, and introspective lyricism while honoring the classic Swedish death metal sound that helped define the genre.

BalashToth is the solo project of Balazs Toth , former guitarist of the Hungarian melodic death metal band Casketgarden . After relocating to Ireland in 2012 and studying music production and mixing, Toth gradually transformed the BalashToth name from a YouTube channel dedicated to riff challenges, covers, song recreations, gear reviews, and mixing tutorials into a fully realized recording project.

Following the acclaimed 2023 EP Anti-Life , the 2024 EP =Equation= , and the =Anti-Life/Equation= compilation CD, BalashToth now arrives at its first full-length release. The previous EPs were met with strong underground recognition, with Anti-Life being named among the top Irish-based metal EPs of 2023 and the 2024 compilation appearing on several Hungarian year-end lists. The album also follows the 2025 Paradise Lost cover single, Mortals Watch the Day .

"Equation II - The Antithesis of Life and Free Will completes the Anti-Life Equation thread introduced on the earlier releases. Across eight full tracks and an atmospheric intermission built entirely around viola, the album explores different shades of melodic death metal, from the 280 BPM attack of '+Fear + Despair' to the old-school death metal feel of 'Self = Dark Side' and the doomy closing track 'x Judgement,' which features Adam Toth (Kajgün, ex-The Dethroners, Art of Dethronement) on viola. Lyrically, the record continues the themes of the previous EPs, but from a more personal and close-up perspective rather than the broader, catastrophic view of earlier material."

The album showcases a wide range of influences and moods while maintaining a cohesive vision. Blistering speed, crushing grooves, melodic leads, and haunting atmosphere combine to create a record that feels both familiar and uniquely personal.

The first single, "÷ Misunderstanding," embraces a traditional melodic death metal approach, blending uneasy timing shifts, bleak atmospheres, and emotionally charged vocal performances from Deathmetalvoicer . The collaboration emerged through previous full-band cover projects on the BalashToth YouTube channel, where the duo tackled material from The Haunted, Dimension Zero, Gates of Ishtar, Entombed, and Iron Maiden.

The second single, "Self = Dark Side," takes a more groove-oriented, old-school approach while delivering a memorable melodic death metal chorus. Lyrically, the song explores the collapse of identity through endless desire, portraying a cycle of consumption, illusion, and decay where satisfaction only deepens the void.

„IV: Sommer“ was written and recorded by Wehmut during the summer of 2025.

It marks the final chapter of our quadrilogy about the seasons.

“For the lack of a better coping mechanism, I tried to process all my repressed emotions by making this series of albums. Each album represents a different set of struggles and emotions, as I start to emotionally develop myself in the safe space that I built with making music, especially with Wehmut.

Now „Sommer“ is about becoming the person that would’ve protected me as a child. It’s about learning that I never hated myself, but rather how I was treated. It’s about accepting the past and accepting the present as a product of my past. It’s about letting go of wishes that can’t be fulfilled and needs that won’t be satisfied. And thus, finally being able to look forward in life.”
