Italian Death Metal Band SONUM have signed a licensing deal with Wormholedeath for their album "Visceral Void Entropy", which is due for release on July 8th, 2022.

Signing statement:

"We've spent the last two years working hard, refining the compositional method, curating lyrics, sounds, arrangements and making sure our music reflects as truthfully as possible what the SONUM project is at its core. When you find someone who believes so much in your work to decide to become your partner is a wonderful thing, and this is what Wormholedeath has set out to do. For us, signing the contract is undoubtedly the culmination of a journey, but it is also the beginning of a new adventure, one that will hopefully be fruitful."

The band, talking about the album, said, "VISCERAL VOID ENTHROPY" is the culmination of two years of work, a musical path that has taken shape. If on paper what will be published will be to all intents and purposes a debut album, for us it will represent the point of arrival of an evolution started in the ep "Monolithic", with its cathy reminiscences, passed through the mini "Divide et Impera", in which the musical development has become more complex and intricate, and culminated in nine tracks composed and assembled to drag the listener into an infinite oblivion, in an abyss with no exit. As we wanted to write in our biography, the starting point is always Death Metal but without ever renouncing to the widening of musical horizons, fearlessly drawing on solutions typical of prog, rather than psychedelia or post-rock, moving away from the most traditional stylistic elements of the genre. Between moments of controlled and reasoned violence, we let ourselves go to explosions of savagery, but also to moments of respite, of apparent calm or icy quiet, constantly impregnating the record with a "pleasant" restlessness...we hope that listeners can appreciate."

• OBSCURITY, RAGE, DISSONANCE, DOOM • From a Death Metal base, exploring new dimensions of extreme Metal universe, feeding up sadness and wickedness… The line up is made up of experienced musicians who joined the project after years spent playing in other bands. After two EPs, (“Monolithic” 2020 and “Divide et Impera” 2021) in which the compositional approach and sound performances have evolved and matured, the character of the band finally takes shape on 9-track-debut album "VISCERAL VOID ENTROPY", The main influences are linked to bands such as Nero di Marte, Ulcerate, Deathspell Omega, Gorguts, Execration...but there are also references to other genres, like Doom/Psychrock for some atmospheres or Avant-garde classical music of Stockhausen, Penderecki and Mussorgsky in the orchestrations/arrangements and in the interludes.

Latvian heavy/thrash metal band Iron Wings have released a new album "Ritual of Rage". The album includes the song "Devil`s Lullaby" released last year and two songs that were released this year as the forerunners of the new album - "Apathy" and "Angel".

"The album was created by referring to and updating the art direction - symbolism, which developed in the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century - in literature, music, painting and sculpture. The origins of symbolism in French poetry can be traced back to the work of Charles Baudelaire (1821-1867), especially in the collection "Flowers of Evil" (1857), where sexuality, death, sin and other themes that are also relevant to Iron Wings' album "Ritual of Rage." In the music and lyrics, you can find quotations from famous artists, mythologies, paraphrases, and various symbols that have entered history and their indirect meanings. Denial of the current real situation, the new normal."

Cruentus was formed in Norrköping, Sweden, in 1998. Martin Öhman and Petter Bocian first started the band and shortly after Fredrik Larsson (later Karnell) joined. With influences mainly revolving around Scandinavian extreme metal bands, such as Edge of Sanity, Dissection, Entombed, At the Gates, Amorphis and Dark Tranquillity, but also from acts like Metallica and Iron Maiden, the group had a strong musical ground to evolve from.

The first couple of years the band rehearsed a lot, recorded two demos and played a few local shows. Shortly after this Fredrik left the band due to other commitments. Martin and Petter continued playing but not as regularly as before. It wasn’t until around 2010 they started to rehearse on a steady basis. Lots of songs were written and after some postponement the band released the first album in December of 2020.

The debut album was titled ”Night Embrace Me” and was recorded at Deathskull Studio C & D in the band’s hometown of Norrköping. Mixing and mastering was done by Magnus ”Devo” Andersson (ex-Marduk) at Endarker Studios Sweden. The album consists of 10 songs with musical elements of both death, thrash and black metal.

”Night Embrace Me” was released on CD by Thrash Corner Records and distributed in Asia and Europe. The album was also released on cassette by the Malaysian label Qalaqas Black Art. The band received good reviews and a lot of critics saw parables with the metal scene in the 1990s, and with a background in that scene, the band took great pride in those words.

In early 2022 the band teamed up with the Austrian metal label Kvlt und Kaos Productions for the release of their second album, ”Fossilized”, which will see the light of day July 15th 2022. The recording took place at Deathskull Studio E and Tomas Skogsberg mixed the album at Sunlight Studios. Skogsberg, most famous for the legendary Stockholm Death Metal Sound (Entombed, Dismember, etc.) made no mistake in getting the best possible sound for the band’s sophomore album. The mastering of the album was done by Sverker Widgren (Diabolical) at Wing Studios.

The album is a natural continuation of the debut, with the same aggressiveness and intensity, but refined to get a heavier and tighter sound. Lyrically the band expresses the different emotions coherent with being a human and the diversities of life itself and our coexistence with the present reality.

Cruentus is steadily writing new material, refining and improving the musical ability and songwriting leading to a better end result. The band has already started working on their third album and will continue evolving their music on the same path. With the same amount of aggressiveness mixed with more melodic parts. The goal is to raise the bar with each release.

Formed in 2003, by founding guitarist Mike DeBord, MARTYRED went on hiatus in 2010 and reformed in 2017. The group is known for their razor grinding guitars mixed with blackened thrash elements and often abstract time signatures, characterized by blast beats, complex riffing, and pit style hook riffs. Additionally, their reality-based lyrics characterized by war themes and mental trauma that are notable in death metal. Various line-up changes throughout the years have left Mike DeBord as the sole remaining original member, as well as the band's driving force. The music of Consecration has always been touched by the black hand of despair, draped in shrouds of sadness. Their songs conjure vistas of desolation and paint pale ghosts of agony and loss on backdrops of storm riven twilight skies. They have explored the depths of melancholy and the echoing chambers of the dead and now, with the perfect line-up cemented in place they have discovered the absolute essence of their sound; a fluid coalescence of the rot and decay of ancient death metal and the sombre majesty of doom. The terrors of the tomb and the agonies of bereavement embrace becoming one...becoming Cinis.

The title, Cinis, is taken from the Latin meaning cold ashes and has numerous associations with death, destruction and ruin, extinguished love and burnt out hate. It’s the perfect title for Consecration’s third full length album which takes the listener in a chilling, irresistible embrace and carries them on a haunted odyssey of grief and fear. From the mountainous riffs of opener ‘The Dweller In The Tumulus’, through the ancient crypts of ‘Ground To Ashes (A Cremulation)’ featuring a bloodcurdling guest vocal from Dave Ingram (Benediction, ex-Bolt Thrower) and on into the visceral horrors of ‘The Charnel House’, Cinis is a bleak world to explore, a shadowed dream to wander and an unforgettable listening experience. Daniel Bollans’ evocative vocals are a tumultuous roar, a cold whisper from the other side of death, a blood-choked, guttural invocation or a shrieking cry from an inescapable nightmare. A versatile narrator, he strides through the landscapes created by the guitars of Liam Houseago and Andy Matthews and crawls the lightless deeps carved out by the rhythm section of bassist Shane Amies and drummer Jorge Figueiredo.

Bollans is also responsible for the enthralling artwork which cloaks Cinis, full of references to the unnerving tales within. Meanwhile the job of ensuring that the sound quality of Cinis was a match for its incredible songs and visual presentation was handed over to Greg Chandler (Esoteric, Officium Triste, Convocation etc) whose mastering has drawn every last sanguine drop of power from each tortured note, making Cinis complete – a perfect, dark whole. Now allied with the expertise and experience of Redefining Darkness Records, Consecration are ready to spread their harrowing sounds throughout the world. DAYLIGHT MISERY RELEASE NEW TRACK: "CANCERWORM"

The Athenian metal band Daylight Misery, inspired by the loss of their dear friend Dimitris Theodoropoulos (member of the progressive metal band Rex Mundi from Thessaloniki) on the 31st of May 2021 from cancer, decided to write a song called “Cancerworm” which is based on his story and everything he has been through over the last years of his life. The purpose of this song is to raise money which will be offered in his memory to children who suffer from neoplastic diseases.

Many known artists from the Heavy Metal scene participated in “Cancerworm”. Specifically, guest vocals were done by Aaron Stainthorpe from the British band the legendary MY DYING BRIDE as well as Sakis Tolis, founder, guitarist, and leader of the biggest metal band in Greece, ROTTING CHRIST. Furthermore, the guitar solo of the song was played by the Greek guitar player Gus G. who has a brilliant career with his main band FIREWIND and with his solo work as well. It should be noted that during the period of 2009-2017, he was the guitarist of OZZY OSBOURNE and launched with him the full-length album “Scream”. Vocals were done by Vassilis Mazaris, bass player by Aggelos Malisovas while Nicos B. played the guitar. The lyrics were written by Vassilis Mazaris and the music was created by Nicos B.

On the song also participated Harris Pazaroulas, performed in the double bass quartet, Kostas Panagiotou member of the Greek-British metal band PANTEIST on keyboards and Bill Papanikolakis on drums as a session member. The recording/mixing/mastering of the song was done by George Bokos at Grindhouse Studios Athens while the lyric video was created by John Kaimakamis and the Nightwatchers. Graphics were edited by Jon Toussas for Graphic No Jutsu.
