BOTOLPH DISSIDENTS RELEASE "THE BACK OF THE BEYOND"

Formed in 2007, Botolph Dissidents is the project of vocalist, guitarist and band leader Andrew McGuire. Based out of Tokyo, Japan, this three-piece international metal band is comprised of working musicians, that run jam sessions and support local indie bands in the Tokyo area. The soaring vocals, technical metal guitar passages mixed with American East Coast aggression, UK progressive flavored bass lines powered by the Australian outback infused drum engine, blends elements of classic, power, thrash, and groove metal into a classic meets modern listening experience that appeals to listeners of all generations and genres. As for the band name, ‘Botolph’ pays homage to Andrew’s hometown of Boston, Massachusetts. With ‘Boston’ bing a contraction of ‘Saint Botolph’s Town’ and Saint Botolph being the patron saint of travelers, it’s very fitting as all three members are from different countries and background having converged and formed in Tokyo. The ‘Dissidents’ part of the name comes from the fact that the band continues the metal tradition of using music as a form of journalism to address and stand up to the issues of injustice in society.

Now that the pandemic has settled down, the band has finally recorded and released their debut album, ’The Back of the Beyond.’ With the album completed, the band looks forward to touring and introducing themselves to the world, meeting fellow metal bands and gaining fans across the globe. The album, The Back of the Beyond gives us soaring operatic melodic passages intertwined with passionate aggressive vocals, choruses that hook you in, old school and modern riffs where guitar is king, blazing technical neo-classical solos, time changes, chugging riffs, funky passages, each song is a unique metal journey.

Botolph Dissidents have a large catalog of songs they will be recording in the future once their debut CD goes into circulation and they build their fan base, bring fans of all generations, cultures and backgrounds together with music being the common bond.

SUBLATION RELEASE "ON THE ADVANCEMENT OF DECAY"

The new album from Philadelphia-based technical death metal act SUBLATION is out now.

On the Advancement of Decay is an experimental journey through a myriad of production styles and genres with a focus on Decay. As the release progresses there is a regression of clarity, melody, and even rhyming meter as SUBLATION navigates from one theme to the next. The painter Jay Defeo once said "Only by chancing the ridiculous, can I hope for the sublime" and with this release SUBLATION chances the ridiculous, grasping towards an ideal of a metal release that has narrative, compositional, and sonic cohesion.

Bio:

SUBLATION is a death metal band hailing from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Formed in 2008, under the name Fisthammer by frontman Max Svalgard, and drummer Danny Piselli. They recorded their first demo with brothers Mike and Doug Sabolick of A Life Once Lost and under their tutelage, they forged a unique style of technical blackened death metal.

In 2012, Fisthammer released their debut album Devour All You See, through HPGD Productions. The response to the album was strongly positive, and led one reviewer to describe them as “set to be this generation's Decapitated”. Fisthammer went on to do 150 + shows in support of that album, all self-funded without the help of any label or outside management. In 2014, they released their follow-up album Infallible, which was once again recorded with renowned engineer Carson Slovak at Atrium audio. The follow-up album saw Fisthammer take even more influence from their black metal roots, while still having the technical and trash elements of their previous work. After the release of Infallible, Fisthammer once again did several national tours, including opening up for the legendary MASTER.

In 2020, SUBLATION returned from its 5-year hiatus with a new name and a newly-shared vision for the band. Never being a band to follow trends, SUBLATION aims to release a brand of death metal that rejects the lyrical confines of death metal while musically and sonically embracing the raw and visceral facets of their roots.

interprets chaos as water, like something formless that can be differentiated.

Before the ocean and the earth appeared— before the skies had overspread them all—the face of Nature in a vast expanse was naught but Chaos uniformly waste.

It was a rude and undeveloped mass, that nothing made except a ponderous weight; and all discordant elements confused, were there congested in a shapeless heap. The primordial state before creation, strictly combining two separate notions of primordial waters or a primordial darkness from which a new order emerges and a primordial state as a merging of opposites, such as neither world and earth, which must be separated by a creator deity in an act of cosmogony. In both cases, chaos referring to a notion of a primordial state contains the cosmos in potentia but needs to be formed by a demiurge before the world can begin its existence.
