MOONSKIN RELEASE NEW SINGLE: "BLOOD ENSLAVED"

PRESS RELEASE:

Release Date: August 16th, 2024

The modern music industry has made its choice: simpler, dumber, deader. In a cultural landscape where mumble rap drools across every playlist and pop hooks are chemically engineered for maximum catchiness, the industry no longer hides what it’s doing—it’s lowering the bar until it scrapes the dirt.

Across corporate boardrooms where profit is gospel and data scientists have replaced producers, music has been boiled down to a science—stripped of soul, creativity, and risk. Complex harmony has been abandoned for predictable major and minor scales, diminished chords and modal progressions replaced by the safest possible choices. Gone is the era that gave us songs like “The Number of the Beast” (Iron Maiden), “War Pigs” (Black Sabbath), “Subdivisions” (Rush), and “Rocketman” ( Elton John)—tracks that dared to be strange, political, dissonant, or defiantly uncommercial. Today’s hits are built for algorithms, not artistry. But metal hasn’t played along (Well most metal, coughs, m******re).

"What passes for lyrics today in say mumble rap barely even qualifies as language," says Moonskin’s vocalist. "It’s not songwriting—it’s stream-of-consciousness slurring over clickbait beats. Half-conscious, drug-numbed, barely coherent. Mass-produced lyrically lobotomized sludge spoon-fed to listeners trained not to question it. Even country—a genre once rich with storytelling and character has been flattened into a formula. It’s the same song, over and over."

By contrast, the world Moonskin inhabits—alongside bands like Cradle of Filth, Meshuggah, In Flames, Lamb Of God, and *special shoutout to Devin Townsend*—remains defiantly lyrical, layered, and unafraid to demand intelligence from its audience. These bands/artists still write with intent. With poetry. With fury that’s not just loud, but thoughtful.

"Metal doesn’t need to be ‘accessible,’" Moonskin continues. "It needs to be honest. And honesty is ugly. It’s complex. It doesn’t come in three words and a looped beat."

Their latest single, Blood Enslaved, in comparison isn’t just a song —it’s a piece of art, a warning. Not the longest, technical, or lyrically complex but deliberate and unflinching, and a far cry above “**** pass me the hookah”. It’s an allegory of vampirism that explores the seduction and surrender of those who follow blindly—those who offer up their lifeblood to power-hungry architects in robes of divinity, and the addiction that afflicts the latter.

So, while mainstream execs toast another chart-topping track built on deliberate stupidity, metalheads still dig through lyrics, dissect riffs, and search for meaning. In this era of musical sedation, metal is the last genre that still trusts its audience to think.

For those who missed it—Moonskin’s Blood Enslaved waits in the dark

VYR MUK RELEASE "CRIMSON FIELDS OF SORROW"

PRESS RELEASE:

Out Now

FFO: Behemoth, SepticFlesh, Dimmu Borgir

Genre: Symphonic Black/Death Metal

Listen Here: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/vyrmuk/crimson-fields-of-sorrow

Ukraine’s rising force in the extreme metal underground, Vyr Muk , returns with the harrowing new album, Crimson Fields of Sorrow , released April 10, 2025. This symphonic black/death metal opus is a cold, cinematic plunge into the horrors of war, inner collapse, and spiritual desolation.

Crafted by Vladyslav Blizniuk , the sole mind behind Vyr Muk, the album stands as a defiant and mournful tribute to a world in decay. Originating from Kharkiv, Ukraine , Vyr Muk debuted in 2023 and has since carved a unique identity—melding bleak black/death metal with haunting ambient atmospheres and lyrics delivered in the Ukrainian language.

Crimson Fields of Sorrow is a ritual of grief and defiance , evoking the brutality of Behemoth, the orchestral grandeur of SepticFlesh, and the icy majesty of Dimmu Borgir. Tracks blend razor-sharp riffs, tormented screams, and sweeping orchestration to paint a battlefield scarred by loss and existential dread.

“This album is a hymn for the fallen,” says Blizniuk, “and a curse upon the void.”

Produced at : Anti Social Riddim Studios

Album Artwork by : Oleksandr Koval

Vyr Muk invites fans of emotionally charged extreme metal to experience an unforgettable journey through sorrow, survival, and shadow.

In 2024 the band released the first of two companion EPs, titled Relinquish, Life. Continuing to refine their unique blend of blackened progressive death, the band also released a new music video for the single Stretched Until We Bleed, described by No Clean Singing as "barbarically careening and crashing...it's also technically impressive - and somehow precisely executed."

PROGENY OF SUN RELEASE NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO: "DECIMATION"

PRESS RELEASE:

Finnish blackened death metal band Progeny of Sun is set to release the second studio album 'Prophets of the Void' on September 5th 2025 via Inverse Records. The second single 'Decimation' is out today and music video can be seen here:

Guitarist Jaakko Hautamäki comments:

"Niko kindly suggested to Joni that we should have a "pumping song" so it wouldn't get cold on stage. I looked at my phone to see what the hell this was about. Joni had written the song and Niko immediately wrote the lyrics. Pepe was allowed to record the drums exactly as he wanted, as long as they matched Joni's demo tracks made by mouse. I tried to participate in the project by adding massive synth sections to the song. In the end there was only one left, but I had to do something. Töle had been complaining for years that the songs could be a bit more challenging. Joni relented and immediately added two bass solos to the song. Niko also surprised everyone with his kindness by giving Töle a record amount of backing vocals, some of which were even solo parts. So there you have it, and the main thing is that the bassist now has something fun to do at gigs."

BIOGRAPHY:

In the beginning, Progeny of Sun was a two-man band formed by Jaakko Hautamäki and Niko Aromaa. Jaakko was responsible for the instrumentals, mixing, and mastering, while Niko handled the vocals, lyrics, visuals, etc.

The songs Jaakko introduced were very versatile. Some had speed, some were slow, some painted a picture with their atmosphere, and some were more straightforward bangers. Despite the diversity in style, everything worked exceptionally well in tandem, and from this premise, the band started to develop and pave its own way forward.

To start with, Progeny of Sun created a 6-song self-titled EP and discovered that their music was met with great reception. The duo behind the band did all the mixing, mastering, videos, and artwork themselves. The project as a whole was very fun and rewarding to work on.

After the EP release, Jaakko and Niko began to think that something more was still needed. They still had a burning desire to spread their music around the world, but with just two people, it would have been impossible.

Subsequently, Jaakko found two local musicians from the Seinäjoki area: Joni Kiviniemi (guitar) and Juha Peura (drums). Joni and Juha were initially brought on board just to offer their vision and play their assigned instruments for new material. Soon, however, it began to feel like they were part of the family, and so it was decided that they would become full-fledged members of the squad and a part of the band's story. Not long after, Tuomo Tolkki (bass) was also welcomed to join, and in a matter of a few months, the full lineup was formed.

The first release with the full lineup, a 3-track EP 'Dark Wanderer', was released in 2021. Next in line were the single releases ‘Worthless’ and ‘Anguish’, which were released in 2022. Thanks to the aforementioned experimental phase, Progeny of Sun has gained self-confidence and started to understand its own identity. The band worked hard on the debut album ‘Throne of Desolation’, which was released at the end of 2023. Progeny of Sun's second album 'Prophets of the Void' will be released in September 2025. Following their debut album, the band has identified their strengths, which are utilized and showcased even more prominently on the second album.
