THIS DAY IN 1992: BLACK SABBATH RELEASE "DEHUMANIZER"

After three killer albums with Tony Martin on vocals, "Eternal Idol" (1987), "Headless Cross" (1989) and "Tyr" (1990), Tony Iommi approached Ronnie James Dio and Geezer Butler to reunite the "Mob Rules" (1981) line-up (including Vinny Appice on drums). The result was this classic album featuring humns like "Time Machine", "TV Crimes", "Master of Insanity" and "Letters from Earth", just to name a few. The album was recorded at Rockfield Sudios, Gales and mastered at Musicland Studios in Germany. The reunion ended when Dio and Appice left the band when the other members arranged to play supporting Ozzy Osbourne. For that show, Rob Halford filled the vocals. And it was the prelude to Tony Martin´s return to the band.

SHEZMU STREAMS NEW TRACK FROM DEBUT ALBUM "À TRAVERS LES LAMBEAUX"

PRESS RELEASE: Montréal menacing black/death/doom trio SHEZMU's debut album, "À Travers Les Lambeaux", will be out on CD & digitally via Krucyator Productions on July 27th. The second single “Les Secrets des Ziggourats,” which serves as the fifth track of the opus, is available for streaming. "‘Les Secrets des Ziggourats’ talks about mental health — more precisely schizophrenia and epilepsy — and their roles during ancient times,” inform SHEZMU. “People with such mental illness were often portrayed as they came from the Gods themselves.”
Hailing from the frozen fields of Montréal, Shezmu was forged in 2016 by Olivier Bérubé Emond (also goes by the pseudonym Comte Bergaby in the underground) and Marc-André Labonne. As a duo, they released a self-titled demo cassette in 2017, followed by two successive MLP releases in 2018: The Scent of War under Les Fleurs du Mal Productions and Breaching The Tomb under the banners of both Les Fleurs du Mal and Iron Bonehead Productions. 2018 also saw the Quebec force expanding their size and sonic palette with the addition of bass player Yanick Tremblay-Simard (Sol Miracula, Aiauasca).

Since their inception, SHEZMU has dove deep into the lore of human history and enlightenment. Just like the definition of SHEZMU (Ancient Eygptian God of wine & oils and also blood & slaughter), the band always took a contradictory and explorative direction to their sound. Their techniques have no boundaries: fast blast beats, mid-tempo occult riffing, or ancient sonic doom, they are all part of the wheel, a dance between Sun and Moon. Just as a whisper into one’s ear, the band recounts the darkest passages of ancient times through distinctive and evil riffs.

On the upcoming debut album, "À Travers Les Lambeaux", the trio took a different approach to the writing of this album, resulting in some of Comte Bergaby’s most personal lyrics to date. While still using visions of ancient history as the lyrical basis, the songs explore the themes of rage, sorrow, and madness. Creating a triangulum among these emotions, SHEZMU heralds symptoms of profound anguish. The magnitude of anger can be well heard throughout the enraged blast beats, fast tremolo pickings, and low-end guttural vocals. The clean, desperate yells on some tracks such as “Lex Talionis” evoke the atmosphere of grief. The fever of madness continues to heat until the album reaches its boiling point: it is portrayed as the triumph of darkness over sanity. For More Info:

DERHEAD TO RELEASE "IRRATIONAL I" EP

“Irrational I” is the new EP by avant-garde depressive black metal project Derhead. The EP will be released on July 24th through Brucia Records.
This last opus expands on the band’s distinctive Depressive Black Metal roots by incorporating the heaviness of Doom and Industrial music, thus defining this new creative cycle as something decidedly avant-garde and experimental.
Skilfully mixing raw and aggressive riffs with the epic grandeur of more sophisticated and slower parts, “Irrational I” deals with our fragmented relationship with the concepts of reality, desire and time.
The two long tracks comprising the EP will slowly unfold to reveal the contrasting nature of our place within the cogwheels of time, leading us to contemplate the contrast between reality and our inner self.
