Australian heavy thrash metal band EVOCATUS will release their new album "Path to Tartarus" on October 30th. The new album is EVOCATUS` second full length release and the successor to their debut album "Mortem in Deos" from 2017. "Path to Tartarus" will be released independently and will feature ten tracks. As the band states:
"Path to Tartarus is a melodic death metal collection of stories about ancient gods, bloody battles and a look into the mind of battle-hardened warriors. An epic crescendo to the final destination of Tartarus.
The album consists of hectic riffs, blistering solos, and crushing vocals whilst allowing for melodic harmonies, symphonic layers, and interludes creating an immersive and rich atmosphere. A ten-song, sixty-three-minute journey that will leave you wanting more!
Having shared the stage with the likes of Kalmah, Psycroptic, and Cattle Decapitation (among others) Evocatus are yet another example of the explosion of quality melodic death metal roaring out from down under.
In Greek mythology, Tartarus is the deep abyss that is used as a dungeon of torment and suffering for the wicked and as the prison for the Titans.
You can be sure that this album is the soundtrack to that place".

Grimmreaper comes from the mind of Logan Grimm, formed as a result of learning that he could write music. This whole project came from watching a psychologist on YouTube, Jordan Peterson, talk about the idea of slaying dragons in your life, cleaning your room, taking responsibility, and reaching your potential.
Peterson explained stories in the Bible and traditions of ancient cultures that shook Grimm from his cynicism on those matters, and he found the ability to express his ideas. He went from not playing the guitar to having a metal album written in about 18 months completely by himself. He explains the album in his own words:
“In the album, I make the final argument that life is suffering, but you should make the unlikely and illogical decision to make a pact or covenant with the highest conception of good and truth. You should treat this covenant like a relationship with a guiding force that, ultimately, is your best bet against misery and unnecessary suffering. You could call that idea of the highest good as the universe, or truth, or the stars. I choose to call it God.”
The single “Resent” was the first song Grimm ever recorded in his life, it took about two years to finish. It is a nasty song, going into the resentment that can accrue in yourself from losing in life. Failing, being low on the social hierarchy, not being wanted… these things can easily and quickly bring you to the conclusion that life is not worth pursuing, and more than that, that existence itself is corrupt beyond repair. A losing game. A zero-sum catastrophe.
Fans of Trivium, In Flames, and Meshuggah are invited to succumb to a grey world, where nihilism prevails when you hear “Resent” via its premiere on TheCircle Pit YouTube Channel HERE.
KALMO is a one-man metal band from Finland led by inimitable main-man Mika. His music is raw and dark doom metal spiced with a fistful of black metal. The lyrics are written in Finnish and tell tales and visions about the inevitable end of this all. KALMO feasts on influences from true old school metal masters like Celtic Frost, Slayer, Death Breath, Black Sabbath, and Master. To add some more to the list, which could almost be endless, at least the names of Triptykon, King Diamond, Gallhammer, Hellhammer, Vorum and Immortal must be spoken aloud.
“After finding a true name in KALMO (cadaver in English), ominous visions of the inescapable doom have been falling into place in the darkness. There is only one mind, one lost soul in the core of Kalmo. The axes of doom guitars and bass are played and the dark cries are bawled by this man. The beat of doom is conjured up with the black magic of state-of-the-art, technical drumslade witchery.”
The debut EP, Demoni, was unleashed on May 10th 2019. This release was a demonic rite of passage and Kalmo is hungry for more. New dark verses are being written and prepared to spew forth via Sliptrick Records in 2021.

Out of the ashes of black'n'roll duo "Sturmwacht" and as a side project to Melodic Death Metal band "Doomed To Fail", Toblakai was started by René Müller in 2019.
The aim was to channel the passion for black and thrash metal and to use the solo-project framework to write, record and produce music without any limitations in regards to genre or target audience. Already with the first EP "One", Alex Fürbass (drums) and Immanuel Liebmann (vocals) - both also part of Doomed To Fail - were happy to pitch in and help out with adding their skills to the recording sessions. Once the creative juices started flowing, more output was created, and roughly one year after the EP, the first full length "Puritans Hand" took shape. The songs are filled with influences from black, thrash and heavy metal, and the record was fully recorded and produced by René Müller. Soon after the recordings were finished, the three musicians decided to turn the solo-project into a full fledged band and started working on new material again.
The band name is inspired by Steven Erikson's "Malazan Book of the Fallen", where the character Karsa Orlong is both a merciless killer and a liberator of slaves, both a brute savage and a man pondering the lessons of civilization, both a barbarian, yet often wiser than so-called civilized people. Most of all, he forges his own destiny.
Toblakai remains a project dedicated to the tastes of the three musicians and does not aim to please an audience, but will gladly welcome any listener who shares the same tastes. No guidelines, no trends, no goals. Just metal. Witness.

One-man Zimbabwean melodeath project Nuclear Winter is excited to share the new single "The Corridor of Shells." Fresh off his July 2020 EP Stormscapes, mastermind Gary Stautmeister says, "I'm pleased to release this song which comes from a new album I'm working on. This song is about the aftermath of a battle and uses the Japanese idea that retreating/surrendering brings shame to their country."
Nuclear Winter's cover of "What Is Love" was featured on MetalSucks this April, gaining this underdog project international notoriety. Stormscapes garnered positive attention as well; as Distorted Sound put it, "This is a very powerful release and indicates a bright future for Nuclear Winter." The upcoming single is sure to continue Nuclear Winter's forward march!
"Corridor of Shells" will be available on November 23rd
