The music of Consecration has always been touched by the black hand of despair, draped in shrouds of sadness. Their songs conjure vistas of desolation and paint pale ghosts of agony and loss on backdrops of storm riven twilight skies. They have explored the depths of melancholy and the echoing chambers of the dead and now, with the perfect line-up cemented in place they have discovered the absolute essence of their sound; a fluid coalescence of the rot and decay of ancient death metal and the sombre majesty of doom. The terrors of the tomb and the agonies of bereavement embrace becoming one...becoming Cinis.

The title, Cinis, is taken from the Latin meaning cold ashes and has numerous associations with death, destruction and ruin, extinguished love and burnt out hate. It’s the perfect title for Consecration’s third full length album which takes the listener in a chilling, irresistible embrace and carries them on a haunted odyssey of grief and fear. From the mountainous riffs of opener ‘The Dweller In The Tumulus’, through the ancient crypts of ‘Ground To Ashes (A Cremulation)’ featuring a bloodcurdling guest vocal from Dave Ingram (Benediction, ex-Bolt Thrower) and on into the visceral horrors of ‘The Charnel House’, Cinis is a bleak world to explore, a shadowed dream to wander and an unforgettable listening experience. Daniel Bollans’ evocative vocals are a tumultuous roar, a cold whisper from the other side of death, a blood-choked, guttural invocation or a shrieking cry from an inescapable nightmare. A versatile narrator, he strides through the landscapes created by the guitars of Liam Houseago and Andy Matthews and crawls the lightless deeps carved out by the rhythm section of bassist Shane Amies and drummer Jorge Figueiredo.

Bollans is also responsible for the enthralling artwork which cloaks Cinis, full of references to the unnerving tales within. Meanwhile the job of ensuring that the sound quality of Cinis was a match for its incredible songs and visual presentation was handed over to Greg Chandler (Esoteric, Officium Triste, Convocation etc) whose mastering has drawn every last sanguine drop of power from each tortured note, making Cinis complete – a perfect, dark whole. Now allied with the expertise and experience of Redefining Darkness Records, Consecration are ready to spread their harrowing sounds throughout the world. The new dark age begins on June 17th, when Cinis is set free...

The Athenian metal band Daylight Misery, inspired by the loss of their dear friend Dimitris Theodoropoulos (member of the progressive metal band Rex Mundi from Thessaloniki) on the 31st of May 2021 from cancer, decided to write a song called “Cancerworm” which is based on his story and everything he has been through over the last years of his life. The purpose of this song is to raise money which will be offered in his memory to children who suffer from neoplastic diseases.

Many known artists from the Heavy Metal scene participated in “Cancerworm”. Specifically, guest vocals were done by Aaron Stainthorpe from the British band the legendary MY DYING BRIDE as well as Sakis Tolis, founder, guitarist, and leader of the biggest metal band in Greece, ROTTING CHRIST. Furthermore, the guitar solo of the song was played by the Greek guitar player Gus G. who has a brilliant career with his main band FIREWIND and with his solo work as well. It should be noted that during the period of 2009-2017, he was the guitarist of OZZY OSBOURNE and launched with him the full-length album “Scream”. Vocals were done by Vassilis Mazaris, bass player by Aggelos Malisovas while Nicos B. played the guitar. The lyrics were written by Vassilis Mazaris and the music was created by Nicos B.

On the song also participated Harris Pazaroulas, performed in the double bass quartet, Kostas Panagiotou member of the Greek-British metal band PANTEIST on keyboards and Bill Papanikolakis on drums as a session member. The recording/mixing/mastering of the song was done by George Bokos at Grindhouse Studios Athens while the lyric video was created by John Kaimakamis and the Nightwatchers. Graphics were edited by Jon Toussas for Graphic No Jutsu.

VØLUS RELEASE NEW TRACK "THE BREATHING REFLECTION"

Blackened death entity VØLUS has released a new track off its forthcoming album, Thrown to the Abyss. The song, titled "The Breathing Reflection," is streaming now at this location.

Thrown to the Abyss is a follow-up to Festering Anti-Cosmic Wound (2020) and Deadstar Illumination EP (2021). The album name is taken from the song "Thrown to the Abyss" VØLUS wrote back in 2018 on The Vermin Speak demo.

Lisa was by no means a stranger to the world of metal having released her heavy debut album under the pseudonym of WHITE CRONE receiving raving reviews in the underground scene. Despite the pandemic disrupting initial plans, the band have produced an astounding new record. Opening with the enthralling “The Reaper is Calling”, SPLINTERED THRONE bring a high-spirited energy into the deadly track. Channeling their melodic essence, this opening number aptly establishes the mood of the album. SEEP RELEASE "HYMNS TO THE GORE"

One-man death/doom project SEEP is set to unleash its full-length debut, Hymns to the Gore on Extremely Rotten Productions. Hailing from the rural countryside of Maine, SEEP mastermind Vomitus set out to expand upon his 2020 demo by adding elements of goregrind and brutal death to an already violent doom/death foundation. The end result is eight depraved offerings of unfettered, old-school brutality. 

Vomitus comments on the album, “I love all things death metal, particularly unpolished obscurities from the 90s/00s. This entire album is an ode to that - back when death metal was about gross shit, had raw production, and was all about being as heavy as humanly possible.”

BEKMØRK has released their sophomore album, The Path Nocturnal. The black metal duo unleashed their debut album Incantations of the Frigid North in 2019; a release that was met with critical acclaim and made Antichrist Magazine's list of top 50 black metal albums of 2019.

Staying true to their name and nature, BEKMØRK (Norwegian for pitch-black) returns with a thicker sound and even heavier guitars than their debut release. With growls that claw their way from the abyss and the band’s trademark morbid riffs, the atmospheric and haunting opening track, “Hail to the Moths”, sets the tone for all that follows. “Black Waltz” shows the impressive range of the band, as visceral drums and frenzied guitars weave the tale of a demonic ceremony at the ruins of a castle in Switzerland, before giving way to a chilling refrain.
