DAWN OF EXISTENCE RELEASE "ANCIENT ARTS"

PRESS RELEASE:

Release Date: May 5, 2023

FFO: Hypocrisy, Septicflesh, Rotting Christ

Location: San Antonio, TX

Dawn of Existence, the enigmatic blackened melodic death metal duo known for their unapologetic approach and thematic depth, unveil their latest masterpiece, "Ancient Arts," released on May 5, 2023. This highly anticipated release promises to take listeners on a journey through the realms of the occult, cosmology, history, and fantasy, delivering a ritualistic experience like no other.

Since their inception in 2017, Dawn of Existence has been pushing the boundaries of melodic death metal, blending vicious brutality with elegant melodies to create a sound that is both haunting and captivating. With "Ancient Arts," the band delves deeper into their thematic explorations, weaving a tapestry of eldritch tales and arcane mysteries.

The album's first single, "Marble Garden," sets the stage for the dark and immersive journey that awaits. Inspired by a lost golden age of civilization, the track explores a world where magic and science coexist, painting a vivid picture of a society on the brink of collapse.

As the album unfolds, listeners will be transported through a series of otherworldly landscapes and harrowing tales. From the Orwellian nightmare of "Toe Up" to the cosmic fury of "Satan Spacelord," each track offers a glimpse into the darker corners of the human psyche and the mysteries of the universe.

"Mystic Serpent" beckons with its seductive rhythms and occult imagery, while "Škoda ‘14" brings the listener crashing back to earth with its visceral depiction of war and chaos. "The Hierophant" challenges convention and tradition, while "Tides" explores the dualistic nature of mankind.

The album culminates with "Meet Me At The Stake," a defiant anthem that confronts the hypocrisy and persecution faced by pagans, witches, and practitioners of the occult throughout history. It's a rallying cry for those who dare to challenge the status quo and embrace their true selves.

With "Ancient Arts," Dawn of Existence has crafted a work of unparalleled intensity and depth. From its haunting melodies to its ferocious rhythms, this album is sure to leave a lasting impression on all who dare to listen.

Dawn of Existence is ready to unleash "Ancient Arts" upon the world, and there's no doubt that this record will leave its black mark upon the masses.

TANORK RELEASE "DESTINED TO DIE..."

PRESS RELEASE:

Tanork is an old-school death metal band from Rennes that was formed in 2020. It's made up of 2 17-year-olds from Diwan, Eflam on vocals and guitar and Melaine on bass and vocals, as the band had not yet found a drummer, they performed live with a drum machine until now.

The lyrics are mostly written in Breton and a little in English, as Tanork seeks to defend its Breton culture and identity, which is increasingly being sidelined these days. The lyrics are often political and protesting about various subjects such as animal overexploitation, the atrocities of war, the horrors of colonization etc....

Our influences are multiple: Sepultura for the groove and power, Death for the sound and speed, Morbid Angel for the heaviness and Suffocation for the brutal side that the band tries to bring.

ONCE UPON THE END RELEASE "ARCHIVE 200"

PRESS RELEASE:

ONCE UPON THE END – ARCHIVE 200

LABEL: INDEPENDENT RELEASE

RELEASE DATE: APRIL 5th 2024

“We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent.”

– J. Robert Oppenheimer

They walk the wastelands of a world laid low by climate catastrophe, greed and humanity’s insatiable lust for power. Five bards of a dystopian near-future they carry their bandolier of songs through a broken landscape, bringing tales of hope, tragedy and dire lessons that must never be forgotten to the isolated and alone. And all of their ballads of an age forsaken, a once great civilisation brought down, begin with the same portentous words…Once Upon the End...

Hailing from Paris, the city of lights, Once Upon the End are a melodic death metal band that look beyond those fabled lights and into the hungry darkness that waits at the end of mankind’s calamitous path. Their songs are set in the last days of the world as we know it and in the shattered kingdom of nightmares that lies on the other side of our self-inflicted doom. Their impending EP, Archive 200, features a blend of new songs and past classics, completely re-worked and re-recorded with the stunning vocals of recent recruit Ezalyr. Ezalyr’s voice possesses a magnificent duality, blending towering melodic strength with a raw, impassioned, caustic rasp that rides upon the surging waves of power generated by the band’s momentous riffs. ‘We Are The Dead’ – an ode to the survivors of Once Upon the End’s conceptual apocalypse – is a perfect illustration of everything this exceptional band has to offer;  beginning with a haunting melodic introduction that explodes into a ravenous swarm of guitars. Elsewhere solos spiral into the heavens while a roaming bass presence weaves an underlying layer of sonorous, unspoken words. The drums provide an unflinching intensity and unstoppable momentum throughout every subtle shift in tempo and that fierce, blazing vocal seizes your attention in an unbreakable grip. Yet for all its magnificence ‘We Are The Dead’ does not stand alone on the landscape of ruin that is Archive 200 – ‘Dying Concrete’ bears witness to the collapse of human society with a fizzing energy and majestic choruses, ‘Moon Scavengers’ boasts some of the finest riffs you will ever hear as it shifts between moods and rhythms with an effortless, accomplished poise, while ‘The Old Ones’ provides a breathtaking, multi-faceted conclusion to a truly remarkable melodic death metal collection.

It’s been eight years since Once Upon the End began the exploration of their dark, fantastical world and the journey is becoming more enthralling and exciting with every release. Their 2021 debut album, The Next Chapter, was an impressive piece of work, but with Archive 200 this French band have really thrust their standard into the torn soil of the melodic death metal battlefield and issued a daunting challenge to all. Mastered by Frédéric Gervais (Pensées Nocturnes, Glorior Belli, In The Woods etc) Archive 200 sounds crisp and clear, yet richly textured, making the most of every nuance and detail in these fine songs. On April 5th step across the threshold into a chilling vision of the future and embrace the incredible song craft, musicianship and sheer power of Once Upon the End.

INCINERATED RE-RELEASE "LOBOTOMISE"

PRESS RELEASE:

Dawnbreed Records is pleased to finally announce a new official release in CD format of "Lobotomise", the acclaimed sophomore album of Australian death-grind act INCINERATED. The album was originally released in 2017 and this new highly anticipated pressing will be available from March 1st 2024.

There is nothing else in the entire multiverse of music that can compare to the madness that grind brings to the table in every instance. When allowed to become its own beast and fester away at the boundaries of societal norms, we get some of the most eviscerating and uncompromising performances that the sound has to offer. When paired with the most primal, brutish and grisly end of death metal’s already gruesome spectrum, things can get dragged into a place of truly unparalleled viciousness.

For all intents and purposes, INCINERATED has been pushing those limits for years with their 2017 homicidal streak, "Lobotomise", offering some of the deadliest and most obscene death-grind that the mind can tolerate. It's the sort of madness that forces blood to pour from your eyes and an insatiable urge to destroy all in your path while the blown-out riffs and utter chaos of Incinerated drive you forward to not just dismantle the very fabric of civilization, but to disintegrate all who come before you.

"Lobotomise" is not just the title for these fourteen lessons in the most brutal form of rending flesh, but it is the single-minded goal of INCINERATED. A wholly cruel work with no frills or moments of reprieve to hide yourself in, "Lobotomise" comes for your very soul.

SVART LOTUS RELEASE "SOM ET VONDT ÅR"

PRESS RELEASE:

Band: SVART LOTUS

Album: Som et Vondt År

Country: Norway

Genre: Black Metal

Label: Hellstain Productions

Release date: March 1st, 2024

This is the band’s second full-length album, and it builds on the band’s characteristic, dark and doomy ’90s black metal with both harshness and beauty. Incorporating innovative elements and skillful blending of various styles and moods, Svart Lotus is ascending to new heights with this latest release, showcasing the true artistic capabilities of the band in a well-arranged composition of eight tracks for close to 40 minutes of playing time. The Norwegian title-track roughly translates to “like a bad year”, and the album lyrics deal with contemporary issues of human nature, ego, existentialism, darkness, doom, hopelessness, and despair – suitably covered by cuts from the classic Dr Mabuse’s psychoanalysis.

“Som et Vondt År” also boasts outstanding guest artists, including Nag (Tsjuder) delivering sections of screaming vocals, Eldur (Fortíð) contributing with his unique clean vocals on “Hat og Forakt”, and Jarrett «Nekronatalenheten» Pritchard on lead guitar on "Cryptic Lights"!

For fans of Celtic Frost, Enslaved and Dødheimsgard

Svart Lotus is a Norwegian metal band that was started in 2012 by Tor R. Stavenes, also known as Seidemann from 1349. The band plays extreme metal with elements of black, death and doom. They have previously released a self-titled EP in 2016 and a full-length album in 2018. The band is known for their powerful and atmospheric sound and has impressed both critics and fans with their depth and variation.

The band consists of Brye (Djevelkult) who handles the drums, Jordheim on guitar together with Stavenes who is also lead vocalist backed by Kaslegard’s vocals and bass.

ATRÆ BILIS RELEASE "AUMICIDE"

PRESS RELEASE:

Like all bands that meld metal’s numerous disparate incarnations, Vancouver's ATRÆ BILIS are not easily pigeonholed. Death metal, atmospheric dissonance, tech brutality, and much more are all thrown into the ATRÆ BILIS meat grinder coalescing beautifully and disturbingly into their own signature fusion like a perfectly functioning innovative machine.

On their new album Aumicide, the follow-up to the band’s 2021 debut full-length, Apexapien, ATRÆ BILIS has taken axiomatic strides in expanding the scope of their elegantly perplexing mélange of incinerating invocations. Sounding both crushingly concrete and slickly organic, the band amputates all boundaries, injecting Cyberdyne slams, serrated inscrutability, and unfettered new magnitudes of vocal abuse. Conceptually as committed as it is musically, Aumicide tells of a test specimen subject to experiments in faith removal by intromitting simulations of Hell to sever the self from the multiverse, resulting in the genesis of a new era; an egregore engineered by an absolute godlessness.

Produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Christian Donaldson of Cryptopsy, the massive production on Aumicide utterly pulverizes, elevating the Canadian power to uncharted extremities of deadly heaviness. This manifestation results in one of the most singularly ambitious underground releases of 2024, propelling the often-backward-looking death metal genre unflinchingly into a far more terrifying future.

The album is completed with cover art featuring a sculpture by Michael Perry and Angela Webber at Grayhouse Studios, photography by Rob Zawistowski and Savannah Bagshaw, and the layout and design by Marko Jerković at Wrathdesign. Fans of Ulcerate, Suffocation, Cryptopsy, Neuraxis, Beyond Creation, Gorguts, Afterbirth, Deeds Of Flesh, Dying Fetus, Decapitated, and Circle Of Dead Children must hear ATRÆ BILIS’ Aumicide.

With the release of “Salted In Stygia,” guitarist and lyricist David Stepanavicius reveals, “Any song could have been selected as a single, for each is one smaller part of a greater whole. However, ‘Salted In Stygia’ was chosen for it accounts the artwork image. At this locus of the album's concept, an apparatus designed to ingress a synthesized Hell, has been punctured into the nervous system of a test subject. Why? To manipulate the causality of manifestation, and to orchestrate the hologram."

"Just like our previous releases..." he continues, "you can expect the story arc to include another dismal rebirth. However, between this single and that junction, Aumicide recites the snuffing of the human spirit, as experienced from the inside."

Stepanavicius goes on to note... "Hermeticism observes, [that] ‘He who understands the principle of vibration, has grasped the spectre of power’ - Curiously, one need not seek too far to find that Aumicide has apparently already materialized an inverse version of itself. If that isn't power, I'm not sure what is.”

The lead single from ATRÆ BILIS’ Aumicide, “Salted In Stygia,” is now playing everywhere including YouTube HERE and Bandcamp HERE.

Aumicide will be unveiled on LP, CD, MC, and digital platforms April 19th. Find preorders for all formats and merch at the 20 Buck Spin webshop HERE and Bandcamp HERE.

VRSA RELEASE "SALTWATER CIRCADIAN"

Tracklist:

Saltwater Circadian 5:25

Hurricane Song 6:11

Shellbacks 6:18

Thirst 5:28

Born on the Tide 9:09

Ocean Floor 7:10

Josh comments:

"Living on the coast of Long Island Sound along with sailing and fishing culture has led to a ten-year journey of writing with nautical imagery. Even before our previous release Cvlt of Machina, the seed of Saltwater Circadian started to take hold in my mind.”

About VRSA:

VRSA (Vancomycin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus) formed in 2007 as Josh sought to start a band with a more unique name who did something different. Taking their name from the staph infection that has mutated by the overuse of antibiotics, it's a commentary on the human race doing things we don't fully understand and destroying ourselves in the process. It seemed to have just the right amounts of social commentary and enigmatic meaning.

Their debut full-length Old Man Gray released in 2010 followed by albums Galaxia in 2011 and Phantom of an Era in 2015. Their 2018 EP Cvlt of Machina is to be followed by VRSA’s upcoming offering Saltwater Circadian, to be released on March 30th 2024. Musically the outfit are predominantly influenced by post metal, sludge metal, some stoner and doom, but are no by no means bound to these styles alone. The band’s upcoming fifth album, Saltwater Circadian, explores water imagery, sea creatures and ancient sailing traditions.

“VRSA is a hard band to categorize, although everyone (on the net) calls them some form of doom […] It’s almost like alternative doom, or dark metal or something....” - Heavy Planet

“They veer stylistically to either side of the designation, but there’s little question that Connecticut four-piece VRSA are metal at their roots”. - The Obelisk

VRSA is:

Joshua – vocals, guitar

Andrius – Guitar

Matt – Bass, Vocals

Walt – Drums
