Death/Thrash Metal classic re-issued!

It’s sort of hard to believe that Master has been around for almost 40 years now. We remember seeing these guys at nearly every club in the world back in the days, and front-man Paul Speckmann and crew never disappointed. The discography is an impressive collective of honest, brutal Death Metal that is straight from the book of said genre. From 1990 up to 2018 Master has produced solid to great releases, and they have never gone away and have become more brutal with age.

“The Human Machine” from 2010 is a mild kick in the chest void of subtlety or reserve. It’s well-produced, fast-paced Death Metal that has a technical side emanating from it, quite polished one might add. Maturity through Death Metal often means a band either waters down its style and subject matter in accordance to some imaginary borders or they manage to progress from the roots and grow from within. Master has managed to grow without letting up. In fact, Master’s “The Human Machine” could stand up well against death album from 2010 or so, it’s both viable and stirs the senses.

The songs are typically Master: free-thought-promoting, sensible dirges, and violent reactions to all things inane or unjust. In the long lineage that is Master’s discography, the ever constant theme is subjugation, be it internal, mental or governmental. Speckmann’s vocals are so reminiscent to Tom G. Warrior from Celtic Frost it is haunting. His influences show throughout the album, as does the proficiency of the band he has assembled with Alex Nejezchleba on guitars and Zdenek Pradlovsky drumming. The trio is amazingly talented and produces through a mere trio what some bands can not accomplish with five members.

From start to finish, “The Human Machine” is a Death Metal lesson. This is the way Death Metal should be presented: fast, thought-provoking and legible. Another fine release from a vastly underrated band is ready for ingestion.

Composition work for “never again” began almost immediately after the release of “Global Warning”. The songs began to build on the familiar thrash metal pillars, but this time the songs became longer and the soundscape duller and ruder than in previous releases. The lyrics on the album deal with familiar themes; mental illness, snake oil traders, livelihoods in low-wage sectors, and hybrid warfare.

As such, it is a sad coincidence that a few months after the recordings of the record, Russia cowardly launched an offensive war against Ukraine. “To weaken and Destroy” describes a situation like this where the war is waged in a way other than shooting with guns.

To weaken and Destroy also features the Visiting Vocalist; Samuli Peltola, known from Medeaia and Sirkuit preiker. Samuli is a good friend and familiar visitor from the first Necro weasel release, so I wanted Samuli to do some featuring vocals again. He also plays a guitar solo in the song ”Forced to Isolate”.

There is a second featuring artist as Mikko Suikkanen will visit the album in the song “Sheeps”. We have been friends and played with in bands (Abduction, Free Country and Deep End) for a couple of decades and Mikko's voice is perfect for the song.

The main theme in the lyrics of the album is the different mental challenges in life. Mental health issues as the subject of the songs have been with Necro weasel since the beginning and will continue with the next releases.

Hamilton, ON, Canada's obscene and brutal avant-garde quartet 30 immolated; 16 returned have a new music video inspired by the terrifying reimagining of Paulo Passolini’s infamous film Saló or 120 Days of Sodom based on The Marquis de Sade’s novel of the same name. "The Antechamber of Hell", which is a track off the band's 2019 self-titled debut album, is a video that might be too gruesome to watch and the band is giving a warning that it might be NSFW for some, so make sure you're in a safe space when viewing.

The video perfectly reflects the band’s sexually sadistic lyrics and aesthetic appearance in the debut self-titled album."

CRONENBERG RELEASE "UNMAKE WHAT THEY´VE MADE" EP

Underground body horror metal act CRONENBERG are set to release its new EP UNMAKE WHAT THEY'VE MADE. The EP continues on with songs devoted to classic and contemporary body horror media filtered through the grime and slime of gore metal. The four tracks feature gurgled vocals, rusty chainsaw guitars, bowel churning bass, and skull-crushing drums, and one track even takes a brief exploration into dungeon synth.

Frontman GRANDMASTER FLUSH ruminates on the writing and recording process: "I basically just listened to a bunch of Macabre and tried to rip off as many of their riffs as possible. I then played them through Dismember's guitar tone. Boom. There's a thin line between homage and wholesale theft."

BLITZKRIEG RELEASE NEW SINGLE "I AM HIS VOICE"

“I Am His Voice” is a brand new and long-awaited single from British NWOBHM legends, BLITZKRIEG. Produced by Simon Eferny (Paradise Lost, Napalm Death etc), the new offering from the British band is the best classic heavy metal has to offer. Singer Brian Ross (also from Satan fame) is in top shape!

As a "Side B" to this digital single, you can listen to a live version of "Pull The Trigger", the mythical song that Blitzkrieg released in their 1985 split 7" with Venom. The live version was recorded just before Covid hit the world.

Blitzkrieg formed in 1980 and, besides the legendary album “A Time Of Change” from 1985, the band is known for the close connection to Metallica. Metallica recorded the song “Blitzkrieg” on the 1984 “Creeping Death” single, plus the 1998 “Garage Days Inc” album, and has performed the song on a regular basis live.

Blitzkrieg’s latest album ”Judge Not” was released through Mighty Music in April 2018 and gained a lot of great reviews from the press. Later, in 2019, the band released the EP ”Loud and Proud” on CD & 12”, containing different versions of the songs from ”Judge Not” together with unreleased tracks.
