Hailing from the toxic war-torn wastelands and neon-drenched retro-futuristic ruins of 2029, where the rain is acid, the slime is green, and the leather is studded, ATOMIZATOR first awoke from their cryogenic slumber in 2015. Their mission was simple: to contaminate the musical landscape with face-melting visions of red-hot lasers, sludge-covered highways, urban desolation and atomic liquor, without firing so much as a single warning shot. 

Their first full-length debut album, "Nuclear Booze Patrol", was recorded in May 2023 at a secret bunker (REC Studio) in Geneva, Switzerland. Furiously pounding their way through the defenses - and eardrums- of the unsuspecting listener, ATOMIZATOR's sonic assault combines razor-sharp riffs, a pummeling rhythm section and a venomous vocal attack that delivers grimy, no-holds-barred, balls-to-the-wall thrash/speed metal with minimal frills and maximal might that is guaranteed to provoke severe whiplash, mental meltdown and a healthy dose of thermonuclear intoxication. 

When asked to describe their musical philosophy, the reply of the gasmask-clad, shotgun-wielding, molotov-sipping thrash commando was short and simple: "We strike with force."

Melodic Death Metal Veterans Resurface With a Crushing Fusion of Death, Doom, and Blackened Fury — Featuring Cover Artwork by Mark Riddick

Woodbridge, VA — After more than two decades in hibernation, Virginia-based melodic death metal band AS THE SEA PARTS is set to unleash their long-awaited debut full-length album Psychosis on July 11th, 2025 . Originally formed in 1995 by multi-instrumentalist Paul Vanderslice , the band left a lasting impression in the underground with their Trilogy of Sorrow demo before entering a prolonged hiatus. Now, the storm resurfaces — heavier, darker, and more epic than ever.

For fans of early At The Gates , In Flames , and Death , Psychosis delivers a crushing blend of old-school melodic death metal infused with death/doom grandeur and streaks of blackened atmosphere. Reuniting original drummer Erik Sayenga ( Warthrone , ex- Dying Fetus ) and guitarist Scott Loose ( Brave , Stellar Death , While Heaven Wept ), Vanderslice reawakened the long-dormant beast in 2019 — with fire still in its veins.

Following the release of the digital singles Psychosis (2021) and Where Paradise Lies (2022), the upcoming album expands that sonic promise with ten meticulously crafted tracks that embrace the golden age of melodic death while forging a brooding, introspective identity all their own.

  “Psychosis isn’t just a return — it’s a continuation of what we started in the ‘90s,” says Vanderslice. “We took everything we loved from that era and pushed it even further — with deeper songwriting, bigger dynamics, and a relentless emotional core.”

Adding to the album’s legacy, the cover artwork was created by iconic metal illustrator Mark Riddick , whose darkly detailed style perfectly captures the album’s chaotic and tortured spirit.

Psychosis will be released independently and available on all major streaming platforms. Physical editions — including CD and limited merch — will be available via the band’s official website and Bandcamp.

DEPHOSPHORUS aims to expand listeners’ consciousness, fostering a vision of a sustainable future where humanity not only survives but thrives in harmony with its biosphere - and even with AI. Much like the anarchic utopia imagined by Iain M. Banks in The Culture books, this future is one where technology and humanity coexist symbiotically.

Their latest effort, “Planetoktonos”, is the band’s fifth full-length release, a ferocious collection of 9 cosmic, menacing tracks that pay tribute to the energy and dynamics of trailblazing acts such as Anodyne, Nasum, Playing Enemy, Breach, Knut, Leviathan and Bolt Thrower.

“Planetoktonos” - a Greek word coined by the band, roughly translating to “Planetkiller”- brings DEPHOSPHORUS closer than ever to their ideal sound. Mindfully forged in the positive atmosphere of Ignite Studio, a rising cornerstone of the local underground scene (home to acts like Antimob, Embrace Of Thorns and Chain Cult), the album was mastered by sonic guru James Plotkin (OLD, Khanate), ensuring every detail hits with impact.

Psychedelic layers are woven into the album’s fabric thanks to electronics mastermind Miltos Schimatariotis, a long- term collaborator and unofficial fifth member of the band. Schimatariotis, owner of Northside Studio, has been instrumental in shaping previous releases such as “Night Sky Transform”, “Ravenous Solemnit” and their collaboration LP with Haapoja.

As always, DEPHOSPHORUS explores science fiction and cosmology through an existential and political lens in both the lyrics and aesthetics of “Planetoktonos”. Several tracks, along with the album’s title and artwork - designed by Graphic No Jutsu (see Planet Of Zeus, Nightrage, etc.) - are inspired by The Expanse novel series by James S.A. Corey, a near-future universe where humanity has colonized the Solar System but faces the unknown consequences of encountering alien intelligence and technology. Other tracks delve into reflections on cosmologic and existential themes, spanning Dyson spheres and the persistence of life to the toxicity of defeatism and the looming threats of rogue AI or superintelligence.
