BRUTAL ASSAULT 2026: 5 BLACK METAL BANDS YOU CAN´T MISS

 

MARDUK

A classic band from the Swedish black metal scene from the early nineties that will take the stage on the Brutal Assault Fest in 2026. This is a completely cult band that has a career spanning over 35 years. With classic albums like "Opus Nocturne", "Those of the Unlight" and "Nightwing", among others the band is also a fantastic live band to watch. Classics like "Panzer Division Marduk", "Opus Nocturne" or "Wolves" are pure blasphemy and aggression unleashed.

OLD MAN´S CHILD

Another classic band but this time of the Norwegian black metal scene that will be on the Brutal Assault Fest in 2026. The main man behind Old Man´s Child´s music is former Dimmu Borgir guitarist and bassist and Dødheimsgard guitarist, Galder. He is joined with an elite of black metal musicians for the live shows: Former Dimmu Borgir and actual Abyssic and Susperia drummer Tjodalv; Insidious Disease, Susperia and former Dimmu Borgir guitarist, Cyrus and Susperia and Abyssic bassist Elvorn. Old Man´s Child´s most recent album is "Slaves of the World" from 2009, so we expect a night of classics in the Brutal Assault stage.

THE LAWS PLAYING SARCOFAGO

Lead by Sarcofago´s founding member Gerald "Incubus" Minelli who was the bassist on the classic line-up of the band, The Laws will play a special set in the Brutal Assault Fest. The band has been touring intensively around the world paying tribute to Sarcofago´s legacy in black and death metal history. Playing tracks from the classic era of the band, The Laws focus on the "I.N.R.I" and "The Laws of Scourge" albums and the "Rotting" EP. Lovers of old school black metal, especially from the early Brazilian scene will surely enjoy this show at the Brutal Assault.

TORMENTOR

This is a classic band from the Eastern Europe black metal scene. In fact, this is Attila Csihar´s band way before he joined Mayhem for the first time in 1993. The band's early history featured many demos and also a live album from 1986. This was way before they released the "Recipe Ferrum" debut album that dates from year 2000 (if we not count the "Anno Domini" demo from 1989 that is considered by many as Tormentor´s real debut album. Attila Csihar always gives it all on stage and makes one hell of a show so this is what we expect from Tormentor in the Brutal Assault.

DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT

Contrasting with the other bands that we have featured here, Der Weg Einer Freiheit was formed more recently (in year 2009 indeed) in Germany. The band has a modern sound combined with melodic arrangements that constrast with the heavier parts of the compositions. The band has already released six albums since their 2010 debut with the self titled album. Their latest album is "Innern", released in 2025 that is the one that will be presented on the Brutal Assault Fest.
