Prepare to plunge headfirst into the abyss of sonic despair as doom-sludge trio PEINE KAPITAL has announced they will release their new self-titled album this fall. Fans and music critics alike have lavished praise upon the band for their previous releases, with one review describing them as a “vital force in the current heavy landscape.” PEINE KAPITAL’s new album is their most ferocious and punishing work yet. It stands tall as a brutal forty-five minute magnum opus, and it features the band at their most nihilistic. With songs about depression, human decay, and man’s inherently animalistic nature, the album is as dark as it gets.

“It’s hard to be optimistic in such a fucked up world,” the band said of the pessimistic subject matter. “Because we witness violence and ugliness on a daily basis, we can’t help but make music that is aggressive and filthy.” On their self-titled effort, PEINE KAPITAL trudges through the dark underbelly of the human psyche, bringing back their findings to display them in the cold light of day for all to see. 

In addition to announcing the album, the three-piece have released the masterful first single, “Cour Bestiale”. The ten-minute track explores the struggle of man to overcome his nature and remain good in a world full of evil. “Cour Bestiale” is just a small taste of what the band has to offer on the new album, promising more doom and gloom in the very near future. Peine Kapital will be released via Sludgelord Records on October 27th.

Hailing from the picturesque city of Strasbourg in eastern France, PEINE KAPITAL emerges as a formidable force in the realm of sludge and doom metal. The three-piece powerhouse is comprised of Thibault Bru on drums, Benjamin Simon on bass, and Renaud Deschamps on guitars, with the latter two members performing double duty as vocalists. The band is a collective born from the ashes of their previous musical endeavor, THE PLEDGE OF CAIN, also known as T.P.O.C. During their time together, the band had an impressive run, sharing the stage with the likes of ELECTRIC WIZARD, SUMA, and NADJA. The year 2013 marked the end of an era as T.P.O.C. disbanded following an intense tour across the United States.

However, the three found the allure of heavy distortion and the thunderous cadence of slow pounding riffs proved too irresistible to ignore. In 2017, the trio reunited, their passion for the music they loved driving them to reconvene and create something new. Thus, PEINE KAPITAL was born. The band continues to push the boundaries of their genre, crafting an auditory experience that immerses listeners in their world of darkness and gloom. The trio manages to offer music that is abrasive and dynamic in equal measure, setting them apart from their contemporaries. With lyrics about politics and the state of the world at large, PEINE KAPITAL is a punch to the face, both sonically and psychologically.
